The Poetry Of.
Harold Lorin..................................................
They Opened All The Doors
They opened all the doors
Of all the cages.
The faithful gentler creatures,
Hope, Faith, and Love,
Stayed waiting in their places.
But lurching leaping barking out came
Disease, despair, and desolation,
They tracked her down
And set themselves upon her.
Twisting biting grimacing shouting
They circle and dance around her
They breathe horror in her eyes
They have nearly brought her down
Valentine
I had loved her before she would love me.
Something had first to happen so
We could become.
Something she must withhold from me
Until she had retrieved it from another.
Perhaps it was only the words
Perhaps it was something more
But on this day another world ago
She looked at me and from
Underneath her silken hair
Behind her deep dark eyes
She said to me "I love," you
And we were
God is Love
"God Is Love" the pleasant pastor said
She smiled and said again
With bright but quiet confidence
That "God Is Love"
So I am now instructed
To understand that The Ineffable
The Incomprehensible
The Infinite and Intimate are one
Faith's version of the Unifying Theory
I have no idea of what to doubt here
There is nothing to dispute
God is God
Love is her sleeping eyes
When the sun and I together rise but do not wake her.
Until the smell of summer coffee fills the house.
