The Poetry Of..
Kenneth Widmerpool...............

Though

That was my bravest moment
Because it had to be
But you must know my dear one
You are wonderment to me.

The moon was as high as it had to be
Casting silver on the tidal sea
As my heart was high with a sense of you
That I hoped you could not see

We were chanting English poems
As we drove home from that sea
And you asked me that awful question
Which I had hoped you would not ask
And a voice within me whispered
If you care for her let her be

Of course I am your ancient friend
Harmless and hopeless as I need be
And that high star shone above us
As I said what you must hear
Oh come ye back to Spectra
Oh come ye back to the pond
And wake me from the dead again
Until it is time to die.

Watertalk

Small houses nestled in the trees
That nestled by the pond where
We were that day swimming
To the undecided point where I
Would ask a question.
Our hearts and all our histories
Settled out onto the water drifting to
The silent shady places created by the trees
In which small houses nestled.

This Is The Year

This is our only year
I will have no other when you think I am
Whom you might want me to be
These are the days we are meant to have.
If there are going to be kisses
They must surely be right now.
