Oatmeal Pear Bread

Recipe By : The Bread Machine Cookbook by Melissa Clark May 1993 p93

3-4 Points Per Serving

1 1/2 LB LOAF

1 1/3 cups pear nectar

3 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce

3 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup whole wheat flour

1 1/4 cups oatmeal

2 cups bread flour

2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

3/4 cup dried pears -- diced

Bake according to manufacturer's instructions, adding the pear during the raisin bread cycle, or five minutes before the final kneading is finished.

Makes 12 thick slices.

NOTES: A terrific, healthy loaf that is not too sweet. If you cannot find pear nectar, use milk. Also, if your dried pears feel tough and leathery, soak them in boiling water for 15 minutes or so; they will plump right up.

JENN'S LOWER FAT NOTE: Use unsweetened applesauce instead of oil.
