"What time is it?" I asked Roxie as we stood in the doorway of the tour bus. She looked at her watch.
"Almost 4:30," she said. I looked out at the crowd of fans. Smiling, I waved to them, but figured they really weren't looking at me.
"You ready?" JC asked. I looked up at him through my sunglasses and smiled. He took my hand and walked out into the crowd. We were almost at the hotel entrance when someone stopped him for a autograph. He looked at me apologetically.
"It's all part of the job," I whispered to him. I smiled and kissed his cheek before me and the four other girls made our way into the building.
"That'll be us one day," Star sighed.
"That was us after the last concert," Elis said, rolling her eyes. "Remember?"
"Yeah," Mel said as we sat down on the couches in the lounge, "they don't know who we are yet. After this tour, we'll be big."
"And rich," Star added, "and famous, and gorgeous, and-"
"So, you're saying we're not gorgeous now?" I said, raising an eyebrow at her.
"Yep!" Melissa crossed her arms over her chest and glared at her.
"You know you're gonna die now, right?" I told Star. "Not by me. Just by Mel."
"I can run," Star said.
"Hun, she's got long legs," I said. "We're the only short ones, remember?"
"Oh yeah."
"You girls ready?" We turned to see the guys entering the hotel, adjusting their clothing. Star and I snickered. The others nodded.
"Let's go get checked in and then we'll find a way to sneak out of here and meet Kevin and Brian," JC said. I nodded and we went and checked in. By the time we got out stuff situated in our room, I looked at my watch. Yeesh! We were already five minutes late.
"I'd better give Brian a call," I said I picked up my cell phone and dialed Brian's number.
"B-rok."
"You answer your cell phone by saying your name?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Very formal, Mr. Littrell."
"Hey, Al," he said, happily. "Where are you?"
"We got held up. We're leaving right now so we should be there in a few minutes," I told him.
"Who's we?" he asked.
"Me and JC." There was a pause at the other end of the line. "He'll behave, I swear."
"What? Huh? Oh, sorry. Kevin was saying something. Of course, I know. Everything'll be fine. Just hurry up and get here. We don't want to make a scene."
"Kay, be there in a flash." I hung up the phone and looked at JC, who was preening himself in the mirror. "What are you doing?"
"Fixing my hair," he said. I rolled my eyes.
"You look fine," I told him, taking his hand. "C'mon, we're late as it is."
"How're we getting there?" I pointed down to our feet. "But, what about the fans?" I pointed at a hat and a pair of sunglasses. He smiled and kissed me softly. "Always thinking ahead."
"Hun, you've been wearing these for days," I reminded him, tucking my hair under my Flyers hat and a pair of sunglasses. "Ready?" He nodded. Taking his hand, again, I grabbed my purse, the hotel key, and we were off.
