"Alex-"
"Save it!" I snapped, a sudden wave of anger washing over. I looked up at the two of them. Kevin, who had been nervously fidgeting with the pull string on his coat, looked up in surprise. "This has nothing to do with you. You, Brian, have been nice to me from the start. The only thing you've ever done is help me. You supported mine and JC's relationship even when he was acting like an *ss towards you. You . . ." I turned towards Kevin, "you have got a lot of nerve. Brian just so happened to be in Baltimore the same time I was, so he decided not to waste any time and call me. We had a very nice afternoon and got to know each other. You should be thanking him! He is the only reason I agreed to meet with you, got it? The only reason."
"So, you're saying that you really didn't want to meet me in the first place?" Kevin said, growing defensive. I raised an eyebrow, challengingly.
"You waltzed right into my dressing room and just decided to announce that you were my brother!" I exclaimed. "What the hell was I supposed to think? That you were being nice?"
"That I was trying to let you back into the family!" he roared. I paused. Let? Let! Oh, no, I don't think so.
"Not let," Brian said, trying to make up for his cousins fault. "I'm not really sure there's a way to put what we were doing, but we were trying to get back together with you in some way."
"Well, that was one damn bad way of doing it, dontcha think?" I sighed, looking at Brian. "Bri, please leave the room. Go outside and sit with the others. I need to have a talk with Kevin and you're not really part of it, sorry."
"That's okay," he said. Smiling slightly, he walked out of the room, shutting the door, again, behind him. I turned to Kevin, who had the same determined face as I did.
"We have some discussing to do."
"It just got quiet," Justin said, his ear pressed against the door. All of the sudden, it opened, almost causing him to fall into the room. He quickly regained his balance and ran over, sitting on a chair and crossing his legs as if he wasn't doing anything at all. Once he saw it was Brian, he grimaced in pain and slowly uncrossed his legs. I just shook my head.
"What's going on in there?" I asked as Brian shut the door behind him. He shrugged and leaned against the wall.
"I dunno," he said, "but Alex just asked me to leave. She said she needed to talk to Kevin alone."
"So, you two are okay, now?" Joey asked. Brian nodded.
"I just hope they don't kill each other," Star said. "Alex is extremely strong willed."
"You mean stubborn," Elis said, half joking. Mel sighed, putting her head on Justin's shoulder.
"Well, so can Kevin," Brian said. "Besides the eyes, that is one way to tell that their related."
"Isn't that scary, though?" Roxie said. "Their eyes are exactly the same emerald green color. It's just so freaky." Everyone was silent.
"Rox, get some sleep, hun," Star said, raising an eyebrow at her. Roxie nodded hyperly and put her head on Lance's shoulder, pretending to snore. Elis rolled her eyes.
"I wonder how long their gonna be in there," Lance said.
"Until Alex kills him, most likely," Joey said. After a moment, they all looked at JC, who was sitting on the floor on the opposite side of the door as Brian, and had been silent the entire time.
"Yo, man, you okay?" Justin asked his best friend. JC just shrugged, sighing.
"What are you thinking?" Mel asked. He shrugged again. "You're thinking you're gonna lose her, aren't you?" The tension in the room mounted as JC looked up at her. His eyes were not filled with the anger everyone had thought he would be feeling, but they were filled with pain. He nodded and looked back down at the ground.
"Man, don't worry about it," Joey said, sitting down next to JC and pulling Elis down next to him. "You know she loves you. No matter what happens, you won't lose her." At that moment, the door to the room slowly opened and Kevin stepped out, looking forlorn and fuming at the same time.
"C'mon, Bri, let's go."
