"I can't believe it's over already!" I sighed, sitting down on the couch backstage. The concert had just ended and the guys were in their dressing rooms, showering.
"What a rush!" Elis said, collapsing onto the floor. Roxie tripped over her and fell onto me. I groaned and pushed her onto the other end of the couch. Star ran in and jumped on her, while Mel just sat in the doorway.
"It was like a mad caffeine dash!" Star exclaimed, rolling off Roxie onto the floor next to Elis.
"It's always like a mad caffeine dash with you," I pointed out, kicking her playfully in the side.
"True," she said. We all stared up at the ceiling for a few minutes, just catching our breath.
"Alex?" I looked at the girls.
"Yeah?" I said. They looked at me in confusion.
"What?" Elis asked.
"Didn't someone call me?" They all shook their heads.
"I heard someone, but it wasn't any of us," Star said.
"It was me." I looked over at the doorway and saw one of my favorite pop-stars standing there.
Say, hi?" I said, my breath catching in my throat.
"Hi," he said. "I'm Kevin."
"I'm Roxie!" Roxie said, excitedly, trying to get some of the tension out of the room.
"I'm Elisbeph," Elis said.
"Star," Star said.
"Mel."
"And, well, I'm Alex," I said. "How did you know my name?"
"You said it during the concert," Kevin pointed out.
"Oh, yeah."
"Can we talk for a sec?" he asked, hopefully. I looked at the others.
"Sure, I guess," I said, shrugging.
"JC's not gonna like this," Elis sang, quietly.
"Don't let him find me," I whispered as I got up to follow Kevin. "Tell him I'm in the bathroom or something."
"He'd follow you in there any day," Elis said. I rolled my eyes. They all nodded and watched me walk out of the room. I followed Kevin into an empty dressing room. When we got there, I found myself surrounded by the other four Backstreet Boys, two girls I didn't know, and Kevin. "So, umm, what did you want to talk about?"
"Guys, can you leave us alone for a few minutes?" Kevin asked the others. The guys nodded and stood up.
"We'll be outside," Brian said. He patted Kevin on the back and smiled at me before leaving.
"Actually, Bri, you can stay," Kevin said. "You're part of this, too." Brian just shrugged and sat back down.
"Can I stay, too, Kev?" the brunette whined. Kevin shook his head.
"Nah, Kris. I'd like you to go with the rest of the guys. I'll explain this later." The girls pouted, glared at me, then left.
"What's this all about?" I asked, sitting down on the counter.
"You were adopted, right?" Kevin asked.
"A little forward, don't ya think?" I countered, offended by the way he was trying to pry into my personal life.
"Sorry, but it's important." I sighed and took out my ponytail, shaking out my long hair.
"Yeah, I was adopted. Why do you wanna know?"
"Have you ever met your real mother?"
"My real mother is the one I lived with until I graduated high school. The one who never gave me up. The one who actually wanted me," I retorted, angrily.
"Oh, sorry," Kevin said, apologetically.
"Wait, what are you getting at? How did you know who I was?"
"Woh, don't get mad," Brian jumped in, placing a hand on my knee. "We're only trying to make sure we were right." I smacked his hand off.
"Right about what?"
"That fact that you and Kevin are siblings." It took me a minute to register what he had said, but when I did, the only thing I could do was stare.
"WHAT?!" I exclaimed.
"Good going, Bri," Kevin sat down next to his cousin. He turned to me. "My mother had an affair a few years after I was born," he explained. "She never told anyone until now, but, for some odd reason, she decided to tell me and my brothers last week. You, as we found out, were the result of that affair."
"So, you're saying I was a mistake?" I growled.
"No! I just-"
"Save it," I snapped. "You came all the way from Orlando just to ruin my life. Well, now you've done it and so why don't you just go back home?"
"I didn't want to ruin your life!" Kevin protested. "I just wanted to be part of it."
"Well, it's a little late for that, don't ya think?" With that, I turned on heel, not wanting them to see the tears that had began streaming down my cheeks. I flung the door open and ran into JC. Pushing him out of the way, I ran down the hall.
"Well, we definitely know she's your sibling," Brian said, trying, hopefully, to comfort his cousin. "She's got the same hot temper."
"What the hell are you guys doing here?" JC asked, storming into the room. "What'd you do to Alex?"
