"You sure you're okay?" Dia sighed, glaring at Brian.
"This is the fourth time you've asked me that," she said. "Stop it."
"Sorry," he said, smiling sheepishly. She smiled slightly and closed her eyes. Their rehearsal had ended only an hour ago and the concert wasn't until the next day. The others (AKA the other four BSB, Kaisa, Dreama, Saph, Amy, Gary, and Emy) had gone to the local library to check for some books on spells and the craft. They made Dia stay at the hotel room, telling her to rest because she was weak.
"I'm not weak!" she had argued, standing up. She wavered and fell back down onto the couch. "I just have trouble standing."
"I'll stay with her," Brian had offered and though she'd tried to make him go, he'd been his stubborn self and stayed with her.
"Here." Dia opened her eyes to see Brian standing above her, holding a towel with ice wrapped in it.
"I don't need it," Dia said.
"Yes you do," he argued, putting it on her forehead. She pushed it away. "Alex."
"Don't call me that!" she growled. He sighed.
"I'm sorry," he apologized. Dia looked away, hot tears burning in her eyes. "Dia, please. I'm trying to help. You've got the purple bruise on your forehead that doesn't look too pleasant-"
"It doesn't hurt," she protested. Instinctively, she reached up and touched it, unable to stop the painful groan that escaped her lips.
"Oh, it doesn't?" Brian said. Gently, he took her hand off the bruise and placed the ice on top. Dia sucked in her breath as pain coerced through her head. In a reflex, she squeezed his hand. She didn't realize she was squeezing it until he gently squeezed back. Immediately, she let go and turned away, hoping her didn't see her blush.
"Why don't we see what's on TV?" he asked. Brian sat down on the bed next to her and grabbed the remote, switching on the TV. They searched the channels and stopped at a bad sitcom.
They sat there in silence for a while, but sitting kind of awkwardly. Biting his lip, Brian slowly laid his hand on top of Dia's, half-expecting her to hit him. Instead, she laced her fingers through his. Brain looked at her and smiled. She smiled back nervously.
"C'mere," Brian said, softly. Gently, her pulled Dia towards him and wrapped his arm around her waist. She laid her head on his chest and sighed. "You okay?" Dia shook her head. "What's wrong?"
"I fell responsible," she said, sitting up and looking at him. "For everything, for Kevin, for Dreama, Johnny and Lisa, for everything. Look at all the trouble I've caused."
"You aren't responsible for anything," Brian said, taking her hand again. "Dreama, Johnny, and Lisa were not your fault. As for Kevin, that was an accident."
"But still, I-"
"Shh." Brian put a finger to her lips. "Dia don't talk like that. We'll find a way out of this. I swear." Brian took his finger off her lips and caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, gazing at her. She blushed a rosy pink. He smiled slowly, leaning in and kissing her softly.
When they broke apart, they leaned their foreheads together. Dia chewed on her lower lip shyly and smiled. Brian smiled back.
