Chapter 12

Dia's hand flew to her mouth and she ran into the bathroom. Everyone was silent.

"There has to be another way," Brian said, shaking his head. "There just has to be," Kaisa shook her head sadly.

"We looked Brian," she said. "We looked everywhere. There's no other way."

"I guess it's up to Dia, now," Emy said, quietly.

"I'll go make sure she's okay," Dreama said. Getting off Kevin's lap, she walked to the bathroom. She knocked on the door. "Dia?" She tried the handle, but it was locked. "Ahh, screw it." She walked through the door and found Dia sitting n the floor next to the toilet. Her knees were up to her chest and she was staring in front of her. She didn't move as Dreama walked in.

"I always knew Spike would get me back," Dia said, tonelessly.

"What do you mean?" Dreama asked, sitting on the counter.

"The worst part about being a vampire is that when your soul dies, it goes to hell. No questions asked, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars."

"Dia, you can't seriously be thinking about doing this," Dreama said.

"I have to," Dia said, looking up at her best friend through her tear filled eyes.

"No, you don't!"

"Yes, I do. If I was selfish enough to make Kevin stay what I made him, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Brian and the others would hate me forever."

"Brian could never hate you."

"But he can resent me," Dia sighed. "Dreama, I have no choice. I have to do this." There was a long pause.

"I'll miss you, y'know," Dreama said, softly. Dia smiled up at her, weakly.

"Why? Not enough people to make fun of?" Dia said. Dreama laughed. "C'mon, we might as well get this over with."

"How much time do we have?" Dia asked Kaisa, sitting down next to Brian.

"You're gonna do this?" Saph asked, amazed.

"I have to."

"No you don't!" Dia looked at her knowingly.

"Look, Dia," Kevin said, "you don't have to do this."

"Yes, I do," Dia said, determined. Kevin shook his head and stood up, motioning for her to follow. Dia followed him to the other room, using the door as he walked through the wall. Shutting the door behind her, she sat down next to him on the bed.

"I know how torn you are," he said, softly. "I know you want to stay with Brian and your friends."

"And you're torn between Dreama and the Backstreet Boys," Dia said knowingly. Kevin nodded. "She'd lose both of us." Kevin nodded again.

"But we have to do this," Kevin sighed. Dia nodded.

"If we don't, then the three of us will be discovered and probably put in a lab." Kevin sighed.

"You sure you want to do this?" he asked. Dia shook her head.

"No." She looked him straight in the eye. "But we have to."
