Chapter 15

“What, you don’t like it?” AJ pouted as both women collapsed into a fit of laughter, holding onto one another for support.

“Speedo’s, really, aren’t, you’re, umm . . . thing,” Kassy said in between laughs. Bowing his head, AJ turned and stomped back into the wardrobe trailer.

“That was horrible, ladies,” Howie said, stifling his own fit of laughter. “He was only trying to impress you.”

“Like that?” Kassy asked, pointing to the trailer door. “I dunno, it might just be me, but Speedo’s aren’t exactly impressive.”

“And neither is what’s under it,” Kristin said. Then, Kassy looked at her and they smiled mischievously.

“Well . . .” they said in unison before breaking into another fit of laughter.

“You two are too much,” Howie sighed. He was still smiling as he walked away.

They’re laughter soon died down and Kassy turned back to her laptop. She typed for awhile, rummaging through her notes to see what she could come up with. Though some of AJ’s question towards the guys had been totally irrelevant – such as “How much tuna can you shove in your mouth at a time?” – there were others that offered the exact information she needed – “What do you think the BSB will do when your six record, sixty-million dollar contract is up?”

“So, what’s your deal?” Kassy looked up from her work and looked over at Kristin.

“What do you mean?” she asked, confused.

“You could have Brian,” Kristin explained. “He could be all yours if you would only admit to him how you feel.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Yes, you do. You love Brian. Everyone knows it but him. I know you know it. I might not know you that well, but the happiest I’ve ever seen you was when you were dancing with him at the restaurant.” Kristin smiled down at Kassy from her spot on the stone ledge. The lady was sitting on the cement ground, her laptop tucked neatly between her legs. She was picking at imaginary lint on her pants and adjusting her purple and white striped halter-top. “See? Look at you! You’re avoiding the topic! It’s so obvious that you want Brian!”

“Okay, I heard my name. Who wants me?” The two of them looked up to see Brian walking towards the photo site, Leighanne by his side.

“Why would anyone want you?” Kristin asked, sarcastically.

“Because everyone wants me,” he retorted, feigning a high-society look. “Right, Kas?”

“Umm, yeah, I guess,” Kassy responded, still focused on her pants. Dropping Leighanne’s hand, Brian walked over and knelt down in front of Kassy, putting his fingertips under her chin and lifting it so she met his eyes.

“Kas, what’s wrong?” he asked, tenderly. She just shook her head.

“Brian! Let’s go!” Leighanne demanded, unhappy with the attention she wasn’t getting. Gazing into Kassy’s eyes for another moment, Brian got up and went over to Leighanne like a puppy on a leash. Grabbing his hand, she led him in the direction of the wardrobe trailer.

“Whipped!” AJ coughed, coming up to the girls.

“Where’d you disappear to, Jay?” Kristin asked. “I thought you were gonna model some more clothes for us.”

“I didn’t want to come in contact with It,” he joked. Striking a pose, he smiled his most dazzling smile at the two women. “How do I look?” Kassy glanced up and nodded.

“Great, Jay. That’s much better than the last one,” she said, approvingly, at his black jeans and dark red collared shit that lay unbuttoned on top of a black wife-beater. Kristin gave him the thumbs up sign. Dropping his arms, he looked at Kassy.

“Did Thing, over there, upset you, Kas?” he asked, pointing in the direction where the couple had walked off. “Want me to hurt her? Pop a boob or something?” Smirking slightly, Kassy shook her head.

“Nah, I’m fine, jay.”

“You sure?” She nodded. AJ shrugged. “Okay, whatever.”
