Chapter 4

"Where is he?" asked Serafina, getting frustrated. The 3 girls were standing in front of the Haunted Mansion, and Nick and company were already 5 minutes late.

"Hey, sorry we're late," said a voice from behind the girls. They turned around to face 5 all-too-familiar guys. They were all out of breath.

"I thought you said you were bringing your siblings," wondered Serafina.

"Well, my dad and wanted to take them out for a day of fun. So I let them go. Serafina, Calysta, and Sebrena, meet Brian, Kevin, AJ, and Howie," introduced Nick.

"Hold on, how did you know who we were?" asked Calysta.

"Serafina mentioned that you were coming. So I took a guess," explained Nick.

"Where should we go first?" asked Brian.

"Well, since we're here, let's go to the Haunted Mansion," said Kevin. The group of (. . . hold on, I'm counting . . .) 8 walked up to the ride. Surprisingly, they were the only ones going on the ride. They walked into the room with the growing walls and the funky pictures. A 'vampire' (please . . .) walked out of a secret panel.

"Ah, I see ve have 3 lovely maidens. Don't be afraid," said the guy in the 'Transylvania' voice. That comment sent the girls into fits of laughter. "Non-believers, are ve?" (Where's Buffy when you need her? Is there some sort of signal light like in Batman? You know, instead of being shaped like a bat it would be more like a stake. Oh, forget it. She wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.)

"No, we believe in vampires," laughed Calysta.

"My vife vould love you girls. Maybe you could come over for dinner one night. She makes a powerful stew. It'll fatten you up quick. And if you try and resist, she'll ~breaking into song~ put a spell on you!" (This is scary)

"So, you're saying she's a witch?" asked Sebrena, eyeing him, barely containing her laughter.

"Yes. But don't be avraid, ve von't hurt you . . . much." He laughed that evil villany laugh and a door slid open. In a puff of smoke, he disappeared. The 8 of us walked to the loading platform. A 'werewolf' was the loading dude (Dude? Dude? Okay, when did that word enter my vocabulary?).

"Time to pair off. Only two per car," said/growled the guy (at least he was a better actor than the 'vamp').

"Calysta, vant to ride vith me?" asked Howie, impersonating the 'vampire'.

"Stop the vampire act and I will," replied Calysta.

"Ok, then." Howie and Calysta got into the first car.

"Sebrena, you want to ride with me?" asked Kevin.

"Sure, I mean there's no one else I could survive sitting next to," said Sebrena. They got into the second car. Brian and AJ just jumped (no, I mean, literally jumped) into the next car. Serafina raised an eyebrow at Nick, and he just shrugged. They got in the car behind Brian and AJ.

"You didn't tell them about us did you?" whispered Serafina.

"No. I didn't notice it until now, but your choker looks a lot like a snake." The ride started moving.

"That's because it is." Serafina removed Kaisa from her neck, and held her out for Nick to see.

"Is that Kaisa?"

"Yeah. It's a little less weird to have a snake that looks like a choker then a horse that follows you around."

"True. So do Cal and Sebrena have . . . umm . . . pets like Kaisa?" asked Nick, relaxing into the seat.

"Yes. Sebrena has a grey wolf named Dreama. And Alex has a Siberian Tiger named Dia."

"A tiger?" asked Nick, looking a little nervous.

"Yep, so you better not piss us off," said Serafina, relaxing into the seat. "I love this ride. Even though most of it is not anywhere near right." Brian and AJ were screaming in mock-fear (or that's what they thought it was). Serafina and Nick rolled their eyes.

In Howie and Calysta's Car

"Have you been on this ride before?" asked Howie, breaking the ice.

"Yeah, it's one of my favorites."

"So you don't scare easily?"

"No," said Calysta, flatly.

"You're really good at keeping conversations going," Howie joked.

"You're not exactly skilled yourself," Calysta retorted.

"Well, at least I'm trying," said Howie.

"And failing miserably."

"Hey!"

"I'm only telling the truth," Calysta stated, starting to finger her choker/snake.

"That's a really cool necklace."

"Thanks, I like it a lot too."

"I gathered that. It looks a lot like a snake. Do you like snakes?"

"No, I hate snakes, that's why I'm wearing it."

"You're a very sarcastic person, aren't you?"

"No, I'm never sarcastic. Why, whatever gave you that idea?"

"This conversation is going nowhere"

"I'm glad you finally realized that."

"Do you have a problem with me or something?"

"No, it's just that I like this ride, so I want to enjoy it. Sorry if I came off rude."

"That's ok." At that moment, AJ and Brian fake screamed again. "They're psychopaths."

Calysta sent a telepathic message to Sebrena and Serafina. Hey, let's make the ride stop and give them all a good scare.

I agree. They need a little 'livening up,' messaged Serafina.

Hmm . . . we could have fun with this, messaged Sebrena. All of a sudden the ride stopped and the lights went out. (Cal's doing) The safety bars turned into masses of snakes. (Serafina) A large Godzilla-like eye appeared next to the four cars (Sebrena). Intrigued by Sebrena's image, Serafina made a Godzilla roar rumble through the air. Also, Calysta was making ghostly images appear. The entire time, the guys were freaking out. A snap sounded and they were at the end of the ride. The guys looked pale and shaken.

"That was definitely not part of the ride," said Brian.

"How can you girls be so calm?" asked AJ.

"Like I said, we don't scare easily," said Calsyta. All of a sudden, it started to rain.

Sebrena! messaged Serafina.

Sorry! I just wanted a funnel cake she messaged back. A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, followed quickly by a clap of thunder.

"Let's head to Nick's house. It's the closest," said Brian. The group of 8 jogged to the parking lot. The girls got in Cal's car, and followed the guys to Nick's house.
