Joe Millionaire 2
By Wendy Thompson 10/21/03

Q. Seems like this series might be more interesting than the last. What did you think of last night’s episode?

A. It was a pretty interesting premier. I imagine it must have been difficult for Fox to find qualified European women to do the show, our cowboy only has fourteen to choose from. I still believe it will be interesting to see how everyone interacts with each other and with David.

Q. Do you believe any one of these women will wind up with David?

A. Realistically, one of the main problems I foresee is the difficulty in having one of these women leave her family, job, and friends behind to blindly follow David to a new life in the U.S. Contrary to popular belief, not every foreigner is willing to leave everything they hold dear behind to come live in the U.S.
I’ve lived in Europe, and am familiar with how most European think about this topic. Some of these women come from a totally different sociological background than David, making it difficult for them to intimately bond with him, even if they have learned to speak English and become fond of him.

Q. Do you believe whomever he chooses will accept him as he is and integrate herself with his lifestyle?

A. I believe not every woman is ready to follow someone from rodeo to rodeo, and live out of a suitcase, unless one of the twists consists of a large monetary bonus for the couple, if they decide to stay together. It could happen, if she is really romantically in love, but this type of feeling is not likely to develop in such a short time. Nevertheless, I feel we should be optimistic and not underestimate our likeable cowboy, since anything can happen on this type of show, especially with the numerous twists we have been promised.

Q. What did you think of the women?

A. The women consist of an assortment of personalities and lifestyles. Some might go far, like Linda, Tereza and Lina. All three appear to have an easygoing and well-balanced personality. Others, like Olinda and Alessia, appear to be what I would call “well experienced in life”, and will possibly make the show colorful, but are definitely not going to impress our cowboy enough to go all the way, since I believe David is a pretty good judge of character. He will possibly filter out the few materialistic ones, as well as the adventure seekers, in the next few weeks.
It is really too soon for me to have an idea of each woman’s personality, and we will have to wait a couple of weeks to see what happens.

Q. What is your opinion of David?

A. I liked their choice of David as Joe Mil. 2. He appears to be quite a contrast compared to Evan, from the first series. I believe David is a nice and easygoing guy, a real life cowboy, nothing more and nothing less. He expresses himself well, and appears at ease in front of the cameras. David will most likely keep the viewers entertained and, if he is as well mannered and respectful towards the women, as I believe him to be, will endear more than one European damsel.
