Joe Millionaire 2
By Wendy Thompson 11/25/03

Q. Well, it was different, I have to admit.

A. I’ll say one thing, Fox producers sure know how to come up with a good ending!
David felt attracted to Linda from the beginning. I believed, for a moment, she would not be able to make up for the lost time, and I am glad he chose her in the end. I can’t shake the feeling Cat was leading David on, and there was more to her than met the eye. She did not appear too devastated after finding out David had not chosen her, especially for someone who kept saying she had fallen in love with him.

Q. You seem to have liked this installment of Joe Mil.

A. I might be in the minority, but I liked this series. I would guess this show’s ratings were not spectacular, mostly due to the show’s complex schedule. I would also venture to say most audiences were not thrilled having to read subtitles in order to understand what some of the women were saying. Nevertheless, I feel the show was interesting to watch, and the different European locations, chosen for this show, were beautiful.

Q. What is your overall impression on David, now that the show has ended?

A. David did an exceptional job throughout the series. He may not be very polished, but he came across as honest, sincere, and extremely respectful with all the women. He also expressed his feelings and thoughts effectively in front of the camera; something not as easy to do as it seems.

Q. Talk to me about Linda.

A. Linda is a very elegant, knowledgeable, and attractive young lady; the type of woman David probably never would have had an opportunity to meet, if he would not have been involved with the show.
Young people from former Eastern Block countries are generally well educated, since their educational system offers an extremely well rounded and sophisticated curriculum. This is why, in those countries, it is not uncommon to meet individuals fluent in several languages.

Q. Do you believe they might actually make it?

A. It is difficult to say what will happen in the long run. David seems smitten with her, and I believe his feelings for her are genuine. Linda appears to have developed an attraction for David, but it is too soon to tell if it will flourish into something deeper.
Both need to do much more than talk to each other in monosyllables, in my opinion. They need to begin communicating, with each other, their feelings, hopes and aspirations for the future, trying to find some common ground in which to develop a long-term relationship. David has the difficult task of helping Linda understand and accept our wonderful but complex society, which is totally different from where she has lived all her life. Once the hype is over, she will have a difficult time overcoming her nostalgia for her family, country, and lifestyle.

Q. She did receive a large check!

A. Contrary to popular belief, money does not solve everything.
Just imagine, for a moment, leaving behind our good old U.S.A., your friends, family, language and customs, to move to a farm in the middle of The Czech Republic. Personally, once the hype is over, I don’t believe having $250,000 in your pocket is going to make you any less homesick, in the long run.
I have grown fond of both Linda and David, and hope everything works out for them. It is possible they may have a future together, but only time will tell.
