ELIZABETH AND KAYLA ARE MY DAUGHTER'S. ELIZABETH IS 15 AND A FRESHMEN IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND KAYLA IS 13 AND IN 8TH GRADE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. THEY ARE MY "ANGELS". I WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITHOUT THEM. THEY ARE BOTH HONOR ROLL STUDENTS, AND NO THANKS TO THEIR MOM. THEY DID THAT ON THEIR OWN. I AM SOOOO PROUD OF MY DAUGHTERS. KAYLA'S POEM "WITHOUT YOU" IS BEING PUBLISHED BY THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF POETRY. THE BOOK THAT IT IS IN IS CALLED TOUCHED BY GRACE, The International Library of Poetry.

Well another school year has just begun and now Elizabeth is in 10th grade and Kayla is in 9th grade. Wow..when I think about it, it seems like yesterday I brought them home from the hospital for the first time...WOW!!!! Like the song goes turn around and their grown. *S*

THIS FIRST POEM IS FROM MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER KAYLA, IT IS HER POEM AND SHE HAS THE COPYRIGHT'S TO IT. IT WAS WRITTEN BY KAYLA FOR HER GRANDFATHER, WHO PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 6, 1998.

WITHOUT YOU

WITHOUT YOU, THE WORLD SEEMS GONE.
THE DAYS FEELING SHORT, THE NIGHTS FEELING LONG,
ENDLESS DAYS OF SERENITY,
LENGTH, SADNESS, AND PITY.

WHEN THE WIND BLOWS,
IT'S AIR FROM YOUR MOUTH AND NOSE.
WHEN THE RAIN FALLS DOWN,
WE KNOW THAT'S YOUR TEARS AND FROWN.

PEOPLE ALWAYS COME AND GO,
BUT WE'LL NEVER LET GO, THAT WE KNOW.
WHEN WE SEE YOUR PICTURES LAYING AROUND,
OUR SORROW TURNS OUR SMILES AROUND.

WITH THIS POEM, EVERYONE CAN SEE
HOW WE FEEL--YOU AND ME.
SO WITHOUT THIS POEM, WE COULDN'T EXPRESS
THE WAY WE FEEL--SAD AND DEPRESSED.

THIS POEM WAS WRITTEN BY MY OLDEST DAUGHTER ELIZABETH IT IS A POEM SHE WROTE FOR HER FRENCH TEACHER,Mme. SHYMCHK, WHO IS LEAVING AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, TO STAY AT HOME WITH HER CHILDREN.

ANGEL

THERE ONCE WAS AN ANGEL
FROM WAY UP HIGH.
WHO TOUCHED OUR SOULS
AND TOUCHED OUR LIVES.

SHE CAME DOWN
TO TEACH US ALL.
ALWAYS WITH US
WHEN WE CALL.

SHE LOVES US DEARLY
AND ALL OF US KNOW.
THAT ANGELS TOO
HAVE TO GO.

SO SHE LEFT US WITH A BLESSING
AND THEN SHE SAID GOOD-BYE.
SHE'LL COME BACK SOON
OR AT LEAST TRY.

THE ANGEL IS GONE
BUT STILL IN OUR HEARTS.
BECAUSE WE FEEL AWFUL BECAUSE
SHE HAD TO PART.

DEDICATED TO Mme. SHYMCHK

ELIZABETH---1999

THIS IS ANOTHER POEM KAYLA WROTE FOR HER GRANDFATHER.

My Grandfather

The days go by,
Not one without a sigh.
For, the times we try to think of you,
Just brings sorrow through and through.

Crying our hearts out is what we did best,
When that day came, when they laid you to rest.
That day of many, we'll never forget,
you, who your grandchildren, wish your great-grandchildren
could've met.

But, that we know can't happen now,
And so, we try to move on.
We'll brag to our children about how great you were,
Although anything you never won!!

~KAYLA~ *1999*

This Poem was written by my daughter Elizabeth. It is published in the National Poetry Library Book! Please don't take this. *S*

Being Near you

Candles are lit
with you by my side
The room is dark
yet nowhere to hide.

Your arms are strong
and you hold me near.
"I feel safe,"
is whispered into your ear.

Our hearts are beating
just as one.
As we stay together
until the sun(sunrise).

Then we still
stay together.
Just as I knew we would
staying cose to each other.

~Beth~ *1999*

THIS THIRD POEM I AM PUTTING HERE BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROMS, GRADUATIONS, AND SUMMER VACATIONS. I HOPE WITH ALL MY HEART THAT IF I COULD GET AT LEAST ONE PERSON TO THINK BEFORE THEY DRINK, THAT WOULD BE ONE LESS DRUNK ON THE ROAD. AND ONE LESS INNOCENT DEATH. PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE

DEATH OF AN INNOCENT

I went to a party, Mom
I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink,
Mom, So I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside, Mom
the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom,
even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom.
but as I pulled out onto the road,
the other car didn't see me, Mom,
and hit me like a load.

As I lay there on the pavement, Mom,
I hear the policeman say,
the other guy is drunk, Mom
and now I'm the one who will pay.

I'm lying here dying, Mom,
I wish you'd get here soon,
How could this happen to me, Mom?
My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, Mom,
and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom,
I'll die in a short time.

I just want to tell you, Mom,
I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom.
The others didn't think.

He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is he drank and I will die.
Why do people drink, Mom?
It can ruin your whole life.

I'm feeling sharp pains now, Mom
Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking, Mom,
And I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying
and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom.
Tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom,
put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.

Someone should have told him, Mom
not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom
I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom,
I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom,
When I needed you, You were always there.

I have one last question, Mom
before I say good bye,
I didn't drink and drive, Mom
So why am I the one to die?
