London-Cambridge Bike Ride
27th July 2003

On Sunday 27th July Al, Em, Boz, Kate and Simon got out of bed at a time few of us knew even existed, endured the predictable unpredictability of a Sunday rail service and headed to Cheshunt bearing bikes. We then cycled 50 miles to Cambridge, stopping occasionally on the way (but only to carry out a gruelling workout of squat-thrusts, star-jumps and sit-ups, and certainly not to eat chocolate and lardy malt loaf). Simon started after the rest of us, and finished nearly two hours ahead. The remaining stragglers came in moments before a 90-year old (officially the oldest rider on the course), but only because he stopped at a roundabout 100 yards from the finish line.
At Midsummer Common we were greeted by a veritable gaggle of well-wishers including Izzy, Rob, George, Sadie, Grum, Helly, James and Dog. Thanks for your support!
The reason we did this was to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, so if you sponsored us, many thanks. Splurge your wad at the earliest convenience... In the meantime, here are some picture to "prove" that we all made it..
