The Car Care Guide
(How To Fix The Break Downs)

Car Will Not Start

First step is pace around the car and start think from the basics.Start to consider the obvious things first, which naturally we blush to bring up.It's unwise to let the machine think that it's scored a psychological victory so early in the game.Start with following;

 Have you ran out of patrol?

 Is starter running strongly?

Some time people don't put attention on fuel in the tank or The fuel guage may be lying to you or simply dead / not working, So if you are having trouble remembering the last time you put any patrol, improvise a dipstick or insert something flexible like a rubber wire to check the tank level.have you overchocked the engine and flodded it? if this seems the likely possibility, push the choke in and operate the starter with your foot hard down on the accelerator to ventilate the combustion chamber.

Is the starter turning the engine fast enough, or is it not turning it at all? Starters generally make a fearsome rattling noise when in operation.If you are still doubtfull, this can be verified by having somebody take a look under the hood while other operate the starter button or the ignition key.
The fan pully and the belt will be revolving fairly smartly if the starter is working effectively.If the engine is turned very slow or sluggish then we have to look to the electric for the faults.

 Weak battery

 Low-Voltage circuit

  • Switch on the lights.if they are dim or non-exsistent,The battery may be flat.
  • Check the loose conection of battery terminals.
  • some time the fluffy white corrosion on battery terminals will disconnect the electrical circuit.
  • Jumps leads are cinch to use if you observe these rules:make sure you get them connected up right way round. The positive(+) terminal of the battery booster(mainly marked with red wire or red line mark) to the positive terminal of the clapped -out battery, and the black lead connects the negative(-) terminal.
Breakdowns on engine can only be appeared from two channels.Either it could be the fuel problem or the electrical problem.Since the topic here is the low-volatge circuits, so we will discuss only on the electrical part.
Low-Volatge circuit can happen from the followings;
  • Faulty ignition coil in carburator system and ignitor in fuel injection
  • Faulty contact breaker in carburator systems and starting sensor in fuel injection
  • Low voltage from the sparkplugs. which can be checked by mechanic. over-used sparkplugs can distribute low-voltage which might not enough to ignite the fuel in Combustion chamber.
  • Uncliped or damaged disrtributor cap in carburator system.
  • Old / damaged plug wires. Some times the flow of current leaks while igniting. The full flow of required current does not passes to the starter.
  • low current passes or no current to fuel injections.

 Fuel System

Few basic things to check in fuel system.
  • Fuel Pump, working or not.Most of the time it has been observed in mechanical type pumps that they work properly when the car is cold. Immediate after the engine gets warm the fuel pump stops working.( Two types. Mechanical and Electrical).
  • Inefficient fuel pumps will some time prevents it from reaching it proper performance at high rev.
  • Fuel Filter.( Rusty or clogged with dust).
  • Poor adjustment of Carburator or low-voltage to fuel injections,which can put the starting problem.
  • choke fuel line.
