Skyla was a very responsible little girl from an early age. She was all over the place, playing with her siblings, but she was also following me around, talking to me, and wanting to be in on helping with her helpless sisters and brothers. She learned to do all kinds of things. She could tube feed, change a diaper by rolling someone, change a bed that someone was in, by rolling them, and administer medicines accurately. Later, she learned how to suction her brother Travis in her mid-teens. She was one out of only two of my children who wanted to learn to do this, and it was a marvelous help to me.
Skyla had a manual wheelchair that was made light, so she could pop wheelies, and travel fast! She was off to the store to buy something for me, and back so quickly I barely noticed she was gone yet! She would go to the bank for me, and get money from the cash machine, because I could not leave the house, when Travis was dying. She would also take checks, and deposit them for me during those years. Here we are together when she was sixteen.
Skyla is an adult now, and her future is for her to tell. She continues to be a wonderful daughter, and human being.
If you're reading this, Skyla, can't you just see me smile? Three cheers for you, my darling daughter! I love you from the bottom of my heart!
