Green Ones by Cathy Dellinger

Green Ones
by

The west wind brings air cooled
by summer's tears wiped away
with the fall's essence and the
distant scent of snow.

The goddess of autumn who
remains nameless warms the sky
for one brief moment with heated
color and the promise of dreams
to come.

And so the mysterious
green ones stretch and yawn
waiting for their blanket to arrive,
plump and filled with down.

A mortal moment filled with
consternation. but to the
mysterious green ones a moment
divine.
