All of the SHIPMAN family genealogy has been kindly given to me by others. I am grateful that they have been so kind as to share. I have no documentation to prove or disprove any of it. SHIPMAN FAMILY GENEALOGY

SCHIFFMAN, Mr. ????---Born in Hamburg, Germany. Married Esther (last name unknown). He died on the journey aboard ship to England outside of Wales. He's buried in near Wales. They had two sons together. Esther married Mr. Gage after Mr. Schiffman's death and had one known child with him. All that is known is that Mr. Schiffman and Miss Esther were on their way to America by way of vessel through England. Miss Esther never made it to America, however, the two Schiffman boys and their half-brother David Gage did come over.

CHILDREN OF MR. SCHIFFMAN AND MISS ESTHER:

1. SCHIFFMAN/SHIPMAN, Daniel--Born about 1715 in Hamburg, Germany. Died November 8, 1798 in Barren/Warren County, Kentucky.

2. SCHIFFMAN/SHIPMAN, Joseph--Born about 1717 in Hamburg, Germany.

We believed these brothers changed the name from SCHIFFMAN to SHIPMAN upon coming to America for reasons unknown.

SHIPMAN, Daniel---Born about 1715 in Hamburg, Germany. Married Elizabeth BURLESON 1740 in Lunenburg, Virginia. Elizabeth was born about 1720 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and died before 1782 in North Carolina. They had nine children. Daniel died on November 8, 1798 in Barren/Warren County, Kentucky.

9. SHIPMAN, Edward--born about 1742

SHIPMAN, Edward---Born about 1742 in Virginia. He married Sarah Williams OSTEEN in 1776. Sarah was born in Georgia.

(NOTE: I've also been given note of Edward marrying an Elizabeth MERRELL and having three children with her.)

Edward and Sarah had eight known children. Edward died in 1814 in Buncombe County, North Carolina.

SHIPMAN, John---Born about 1776 in North Carolina. Married Melinda PURCELL in 1828 in Tennessee. Melinda was born about 1800 in Tennessee and died about 1848 in Missouri. John died about 1849.

Their child: SHIPMAN, Daniel was born about 1829 in Tennessee or Missouri. He married Tabatha ROBINSON in 1851 in Franklin, Arkansas and died about 1905 and is buried in Cana Cemetary, Van Zandt County, Texas.

Tabatha married William Hailey after Daniel SHIPMAN'S death in about 1861 in Texas. She later married a Mr. Bannister in about 1874 in Texas.

Daniel died in 1861 and is buried in Farmers Branch, Dallas County, TX.
