I only wanted to play
only wanted you to stay
why did you go away
why did you fade?
Now there is too much room to breathe
...I suffocate
too much time to think
...to contemplate
too many mistakes
...to compensate
well, we are sewn together in teeth
your secret is safe
yes your secret is safe

God in the skies above
do you know anything about love?
did you watch all the children die?
did you watch their mothers cry?
did you watch all the buildings fall?
did you watch their fathers crawl?

we are naked and oblivious
don't blink your eyes to the obvious
the apple that we ate is rotten
we have long since forgotten
...his name
and we hide our heads
...in shame

well the serpents crawling up the tree
crawling on his belly
counterclockwise
finding his way back to me
I wonder if he'll hiss
when he reaches my abyss
or maybe he will scream
in the "nothing's as it seems"
doesn't matter...

we are naked and oblivious
don't blink your eyes to the obvious
the apple that we ate is rotten
we have long since forgotten
...his name
and we hide our heads
...in shame

I only wanted to play
only wanted you to stay
why did you go away
why did you fade?
Now there is too much room to breathe
...I suffocate
too much time to think
...to contemplate
too many mistakes
...to compensate
well, we are sewn together in teeth
your secret is safe
