STRICKLER- HARTWELL AND FROM PAGES OF HER FAMILY BIBLE AND OTHER SOURCES.
YARNELL
David Yarnell born abt. 1772. Died April 16 1855 at the age of 83.
Married Rachel (unknown) who was born about 1774, Died August 11 1849 at
age 75.
Their children were:
Jane (Yarnell) Meredith Born abt. 1796 D. March 9, 1871 age 75
Hannah (Yarnell) Kennedy Born abt. 1793 D. Sept. 29 1875 age 82
David Yarnell Born abt 1809 D. September 1, 1872 age 63
Philip Yarnell, b. June 3, 1815, married, Martha (unknown), April 10 1860
One daughter Lilly C. Yarnell b. March 28,1861. His wife Martha died Jan.
14,,1862
He died August 11, 1870.
Martha Long Yarnell, b. May 12, 1812, married Samuel Meredith Neel March
6, 1836, d.. May 11, 1890. Samuel Meredith was born August 19, 1804 in
Uniontown, PA d. October 24, 1880 in Marshall Co. Kansas.
STRICKLER
Robert H. Strickler , born about 1834 in PA. Married Jane Ellen Neel in
Indiana May 16, 1859. They moved to Lewis Co. Missouri until the Civil
War broke out in 1861 they then moved to ILL. Robert went to war and died
on his way home in 1865. There is a record of two children. A son Ira M.
Strickler , born about 1861. He married Alma Gertrude Talbot. He died
March 7, 1918, age 57.
Daughter, Martha B. Strickler, born about 1864, married Feb. 20, 1887.
In the 1880 census , Marysville twp. Marshall Co, Kansas, Martha is
living with her brother, Ira, who is a farmer, and living with them are
their grandparents, Martha and "Sam" Neel.
HARTWELL
John Nicholas Hartwell married Jane Ellen (Neel) Strickler November 8,
1866. in Quincy ILL. She was his third wife and he was 25 years her
senior. Four of his children listed in her records are;

George N. Hartwell b. March 6 1854
Betsie A. (Hartwell) Robbin b. July 3, 1851
In the 1870 census in Chili Twp. Hancock Co, ILL, these four children are
listed with John, (a merchant) and Jane and also her daughter Martha
Strickler 6 years old. Jane has lost two children . a boy, Harry
Hartwell, born and died , December 21, 1867 and a daughter , Grace Neel
Hartwell b. Dec, 28 1868--d. April 18, 1870
The other children of this marriage are;
Mariam W. Hartwell, b.May 4 1871 in Bowen ILL. She married William R.
Barton Jan. 31, 1897 in Concordia, Kansas,
Jessie Nina Hartwell, b. April 10, 1874----Married Daniel W. Bales July
5, 1898. Their daughter was Anna Celeste Bales b. March 17, 1901 in Omaha
Neb. Anne married Arthur F. Luder August 16, 1920 in Tulsa Oklahoma. Anna
was the grandmother of Arlene Krings husband . She lives in Fairview
Kansas and she is the one who sent me the copies of the Journal written
by Jane E. (Neel) Hartwell and pages from the family bible.
Jessie N. (Hartwell) Bales d. Feb. 23, 1926, age 51 years and 10 months.
Olive Blanch Hartwell, b. June 12, 1877 near Marysville Kan. d. August
10, 1878.
Corydon C. Hartwell, b. April 23, 1879 near Marysville, Kansas----Married
Myrtle Lyman October 8, 1901 in Jamestown, Kansas. Their daughter was
Parthena Lucille Hartwell b. September 23, 1901 in Billings, Oklahoma.

She married Joseph Ritche in 1922. Their children were;
Joseph Hugh Ritchie b. 1923 in Vinita OK.
Shirley Jane Ritchie b. 1925 in Detroit, Michigan
Thomas Dewey Ritchie b. 1939
Corydon's second wife was Eva Robinson, They had one child ,
Thurlow Corydon Hartwell, b. 1925 in Salt Lake City . Thurlow married
Georgetta Sobatha in 1952. Their children are Barbara Ann Hartwell b.
1952 in Twin Falls, Idaho and Robert Hartwell b. 1955.)

On one page there is one name I can't make out nor who it refers to.
???tteci in Salina, Kansas---July 14, 1918
Arlene Krings tells me that on her original copy of the The Family record
sheet that got wet in a flood , at the bottom of that page is a record of
a marriage on March 4, 1874.
This is the date of Leah Ann's marriage to John Newland. .
I believe at the top of that page is the record of the marriage of
Winfield Neel and Hulda E. Simmons on October 15 1874.
Jane writes in her journal that at the age of 56 in the year of 1894 only
four children are living out of nine. And two grandchildren living, one
dead. I believe the four children living are Ira M. Strickler, Jessie
Nina Hartwell, Corydon C. Hartwell and Mariam W. Hartwell. Ira died in
1918, Mariam married 1897. Corydon and Jessie raised families.
