"Matters of the Heart"

Chapter 15

Brian and Rebecca got a surprise when they got back to his house. Kevin's 4Runner and AJ's Expedition were sitting in the driveway. "Great, What is he doing here? Do I have to go inside?" Brian asked.
"Yes you do, now come on. You might as well get this over with, and if Kevin is a dick again you can just kick his ass out of the house. I'm sure Nick would help you."
Brian laughed, took a deep breath then they went inside. Gina and Lauren were the first to run up to them, both hugging Brian at the same time. "We're so glad that you're ok!" Lauren said. "Nick called us and told us you were missing."
"I'm fighting a major hangover for you Littrell. You should feel loved," Gina said. "Are you ok?" she whispered and he nodded his head yes.
"Rok man, you better not pull this disappearing shit again," AJ said giving him a brotherly hug. "When Nick called I thought the poor guy was gonna piss in his pants."
"Very funny Bone. I was scared so sue me."
"It's ok Frack… even though I was only gone for like 12 hours," Brian said, and it was then that he noticed Kevin sitting on the couch. Kevin was sitting contently by himself holding a soda can in his hands. He stared at the tab with all his concentration. He felt someone watching him and turned his head to face Brian. Kevin's eyes were filled with tears. He slowly rose from the couch and walked over to Brian. Brian looked up at his tall cousin and started to cry. "I hate you for what you did."
"I know," Kevin's voice was barely audible. Kevin turned and looked at Rebecca. "I'm so sorry. I should have never said such things. I never should have judged you without knowing you. But I learned my lesson. All I ask and beg for is for your forgiveness." Kevin looked at Brian again. "I love you man."
Gina grabbed her throbbing head and took a hold of Lauren's and Rebecca's hand. "I think we should let them be alone. That and I need some aspirin."
Lauren smiled and nodded. The women started to walk towards the kitchen with Nick and Howie following. Lauren turned around to see AJ just standing behind Kevin almost about to cry. "AJ, we said we're going to leave them alone."
AJ wiped his eyes and sniffed. "Okie…" he said following them into the kitchen.
Kevin and Brian stood quietly looking at each other. Brian's eyes swelled up with tears and they began to fall. "Man Kevin, you know you make my life to stressful right?"
Kevin tried to smile but his mouth stubbornly refused. "I know."
Brian looked down and the floor and lifted his head towards his cousin's. "Damn you for being to damn tall." Brian placed his arms around his cousin and cried into his chest. Kevin wrapped his arms around Brian and cried into him as well. Kevin knew he had his cousin's forgiveness and let more and more tears fall until his eyes burned. The moment was ruined by a loud "AAWWW" coming from the kitchen followed by an "AJ leave them alone!"
Gina ran out of the kitchen with tears in her eyes. She grabbed onto Kevin and hugged him as tightly as she could. "You're a bastard sometimes, but damnit I love you."
"Group hug everyone!" AJ said going out and joining Brian, Kevin, and Gina. Rebecca, Lauren, and Nick and Howie followed forming a big group hug.
