“Tomorrow’s Promise”

Chapter 3

The guys got a call from management a few days later and had to leave that afternoon for an important meeting. Gina called Rebecca, Lauren, and Hannah over to her and Kevin’s house to hang out. She said she had some “big” news to share with everyone. Lauren got there first, and Rebecca and Hannah arrived a few minutes later. Hannah and Lauren were in the kitchen making some popcorn to munch on, and Gina and Rebecca were fixing drinks for the four of them.
“Gina when are you going to tell us your big news?” Lauren asked walking out to the living room with the popcorn and putting the video they rented into the VCR.
“What news? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said with a sly grin, carrying her drink into the living room and plopping down on the couch.
“No way, you’re not doing this to us, now spill it,” Rebecca said joining them with Hannah right behind her. They all took their seats in the room and put the previews on mute so Gina could let the cat out of the bag.
“Ok, fine since you put me in the spot light… Do you girls notice anything different about me today?” They all looked at her and said no. “Come on, look closer.”
It took a minute but Rebecca noticed what she was talking about. “Oh my God! Look at her finger!” Sitting there was a half-karat Ruby and Diamond sitting side by side on a small silver band.
Lauren and Hannah looked and had the same reaction. “You’re getting married?! Aahh! When did he ask you?” Lauren said.
“Last night. He was SO sweet, and the bastard made me cry so much! But I still love him.”
“Aaww,” the other three said at the same time. “We’re happy for you,” Hannah said.
“Thank you, now let’s watch this freaking movie!”
As soon as the movie ended they were all bored. The suggestion of watching another movie was thrown out, but the thought of sitting there for another hour and a half wasn’t very thrilling. Rebecca and Hannah went over to the stereo and looked through their CD collection. Hannah pulled out a copy of the Boys’ Millennium CD. They looked at each other and they both had the same idea.
“Hey we have an idea! Wanna act stupid for awhile?” Rebecca asked.
“Uh… sure,” Gina said. “What do you have in mind?”
“Let’s be our boys,” she said holding up the CD. “Kinda like karoke.”
“Yeah, like I’d sing when Nick sings, Bec when Brian… etc.”
“Man, I’m gonna have to sing a lot,” Rebecca said putting the CD into the player.
“Hey! At least you’ll get to sing!” Gina said.
“Just put on a song where Kevin sings,” Lauren said. “Ok, everyone ready?”
“Wait what are we going to sing into?” Hannah asked.
“OH! I have to say this… in the words of Nick Carter… our hands dumbass!” Gina said and busted out laughing along with the other three. “So I drank a little too much, so sue me. Ok we’re really going to do this now,” she said calming down. “Press play.”
Rebecca pressed play, “I Want It That Way” started playing, and she started singing into her hand. “You are my fire, the one desire, believe when I say, I want it that way.”
Then Hannah started, “But we are two worlds apart, Can’t reach to your heart, when you say that I want it that way… Tell me why…”
“Ain’t nothing but a heartache”
“Tell me why…”
“Ain’t nothing but a mistake, tell me why…”
“I never wanna hear you say…”
“I want it that way”
Lauren went to the front and started singing AJ’s part. “Am I your fire, Your one desire. Yes I know it’s too late, but I want it that way, Tell me why…”
“Ain’t nothing but a heartache”
“Tell me why…”
“Ain’t nothing but an mistake, tell me why…”
“I never wanna hear you say…”
“I want it that way…”
Gina jumped up onto the table and started to sing very off key. “Now I can see that we’re falling apart, From the way that it used to be yeah, No matter the distance, I want you to know, That deep down inside of me…”
When Howie’s part came up the four girls looked at each other, and busted out laughing. Then they all just sang it doing the hand motions that he did from the video. “You are my fire, The one desire, you are…”
“You are…”
“You are…”
Hannah went to the front for Nick’s big part, doing the hand motions and foot stomp that he did in the video. “Don’t wanna hear you sssaaaayyyyy…”
They were having so much fun that they didn’t even notice the guys standing in the door-way watching, their faces turning red from holding back their laughter. But when Hannah did that last part it was too much for Nick, and he started laughing, causing all of the other guys to laugh as well. Lauren and Hannah screamed when they heard them laugh, Gina fell off of the table, and Rebecca fell on the floor, totally embarrassed. The guys started clapping and cheering.
“Oh come on, you can’t stop now,” Brian said.
“Yeah encore!” AJ added.
Nick could hardly speak because he was laughing so hard, “Encore!”
“You guys are back uh… early,” Gina said turning the stereo off.
“Meeting got cut short,” Kevin said giving her a kiss.
“I think I’m going to crawl away and die now,” Hannah said not facing Nick.
“I’m coming with you,” Rebecca said as Brian and Nick came closer to them.
“Aww look they’re blushing,” Brian said pulling his girlfriend into his arms. “Don’t be embarrassed, I think it was cute,” he whispered into her ear.
Nick gave Hannah a hug and kiss. "Why can't you do a little song and dance for me at night?" Nick smiled greedily. Hannah kissed him lightly on the nose and whispered “we’ll see.”
“Sorry for crashing your party ladies, but you’ll get to party more later because we’re going for a guys night out tonight,” AJ said.
"Aw, no ladies?" Lauren placed her hands on her hips.
"Nope," Nick stole a quick kiss from Hannah and started towards the door.
"Damnit. What if I go to work early tonight?" Gina laughed.
Kevin turned at looked at his girlfriend, "Work?"
"Yeah, I'll become a stripper for the night and earn some extra mula."
"I don't think so. Only I get to see you strip." Kevin started towards the door with the rest of the guys.
"HA!" Gina yelled after them, "That's what you think."
Rebecca looked at all the girls and ran to the door to lock all of the guys out. Brian ran back and started to bang on the door. "Kevin heard that!" he screamed when no one answered the door. Rebecca and the other's laughed and sat back down on the couch.
"I'm bored," Rebecca said after a few minutes of silence. "I say we surprise the guys!"
They all agreed and headed to bathroom to make themselves ready for a night of clubbing.
