LESSON ONE SALVATION

It is  important for you to understand what happened in your life at the time of your salvation.  The more you understand, the more you will be thankful to God for His gift.

The word “Salvation” comes from a Greek word meaning, “rescued or delivered”.  Through Christ’s death  at Calvary, He completed the work of salvation.   One has to only claim what Jesus Christ has done through repentance and faith and receive Him as personal Savior. (Romans 10:9-10)  Jesus had to die because of sin, which made man hopeless to save himself from the eternal punishment in hell.  (Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23).  God’s  love and compassion made this grace (undeserved favor) available to us. (John 3:16)  It is not His will that any should perish, but that all men to come to repentance and faith.  (II Peter 3:9)

Your salvation experience has given you precious, countless blessings that you will enjoy now and forever.  Some  of them are:

 1. Forgiveness of all your sins.  You were given an opportunity by God to start “all over again”.  That’s why it is called “born again” (John 3:3).  You  became a brand new person in Christ.  II Corinthians 5:17 states “…. all things are passed away; behold, old things are become new.”  Jesus did not just forgive your past sins but your present and future sins as well. He also has given you the Power to overcome temptation. (I Corinthians 10:13).  When you sin,  you only need to claim his forgiveness by confession.  A privilege only given to God’s child.

(I John 1:9)

2. Becoming a member of the family of God.  (John 1:12-13)  By faith, you were adopted into the family of God.  This relationship will never change.  It is eternal.  As God’s child you are an heir to  His spiritual riches in His kingdom. (Galatians 4:5-7)

3. The gift of Eternal Life.  (Romans 6:23; John 10:28) This gives you the assurance of heaven when you leave your earthly vessel anytime.  You can confidently say that you are on your way to heaven and that you are saved forevermore.

4. The eternal presence of the Holy Spirit.  (Romans 8:9)  You have the power of God at your disposal to live a victorious life.  You no longer have a reason to be defeated and remain miserable.  You only need to ask the Holy Spirit to control of your life.  His presence in your heart gives you all of the necessities to be a victorious Christian and to enjoy the fruit of righteousness.  (Galatians 5:22-23)  When you find yourself defeated, it is because your flesh is in control, not  the Holy Spirit.

Your Salvation is your most cherished possession.  Share it with your loved ones and friends.  This is the reason why God has saved you.  Welcome!
