LESSON SEVEN – THE GREAT COMMISSION

Matthew 28:19-20 states the Commission God has given the believers through His local Church.  It is addressed not to individual Christians but to the Church as a body.  It comes in 3– fold:

 A.                Make disciples of men through the Gospel of Christ (vs. 19) - Mark 16:15 clarifies what to preach for men to know and follow the Lord Jesus Christ.  It simply means to get people saved.  The command does not end here.  We are also instructed to:

B.                Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We need to instruct the believers to follow and obey God in water baptism in a local Church  as the first step of obedience and to “fulfill all righteousness”.  Still, it does not end here. We need to:

C.                Teach them to observe all things He commanded.  We need to get them in the local Church to be under the instructions of the Word of God.  This gets them  equipped in life and in the ministry.

The Great Commission follows a series of event that an individual goes through to prepare him for the Master’s use.  It cannot be re-arranged, modified and disregarded.  It is the pattern by which we need to disciple every believer in Christ.  To fulfill this commission is to be blessed of God.  There’s an attached promise of His constant presence and blessings. vs. 20.

Your responsibility as a Child of God is to fulfill this commandment through the local Church.  You are called upon to witness to the lost: your loved-ones, neighbors, friends, etc. and make disciples out of them.  You can learn soul-winning by joining our Operation Go Program every Friday Night and learn the technique of successful Soul– Winning.  After your prospect gets saved, your job only begins.  Remember, it is Christ that saves, not you.   You need to explain to your prospect about Baptism as obedience and as an outward evidence of true conversion.   Begin by inviting  your prospect to the Church to make a public profession of faith..  This starts your discipleship ministry.

Discipleship is taking a new believer under your wing to establish him in the faith.  Guide him through the Word of God and fellowship  by your glittering testimony and life example.   Through Discipleship, you do not only help someone.  You also help yourself  grow and mature spiritually.

Our Mitosis Discipleship Program has 5 activities to engage in to help see both you and your disciple to grow:

 1) Fellowship in Word – Bible Study

 2) Fellowship in Prayer – through Prayer Partnership

 3) Fellowship in Service – Actual Church ministry

 4) Fellowship in Discipleship – Find another prospect to disciple  and

 5) Casual Fellowship – Normal get together, clean fun, creativity, showing your prospect how to live a normal Christian life and how to handle daily challenges.

MEMORY VERSE: II JOHN 9 – “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.  He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.”
