Dreams Are Only Dreams
I, Woman, have my "dream of
dreams".
As I lay my head, ready for slumber,
I find my thoughts running awry and asunder.
I close my mind down, and take on the sleep.
To only find myself, in darkness so deep.
I search among the ebony for a haven of rest.
I come to a circle of light, dim at its best.
I stand in the circle, the quick beating of my heart.
Sensing a slow, approaching presence that I expect to tear me
apart.
I go to my knees, with my arms down by my side.
Lowering my eyes, determined, knowing before I never cried.
I feel shivers of fear, coursing through my weary soul.
Believing I will not survive, with myself being whole.
I feel the presence getting nearer and nearer to me.
A voiceless, faceless entity, one I cannot see.
I find myself praying, God let me make it through this, I ask.
Please don't let me relive, again, the things of my past.
As I wait for the terror to surround me in the night.
I sense a strong hand, pulling me up from my plight.
A gentle touch I feel lifting my head, caressing my face.
With such tender softness, filled with masculine grace.
I look up, and even though he eyes I cannot see.
I sense he has looked and seen the beauty inside me.
Instead of a woman's ravaged and worn body of time.
He sees his perfection, filled with rhythm and rhyme.
As I sense his fingertips on my lips with a caress.
Words I feel come to me, "you are woman, no less".
As his arms hold me close, with a strength unknown.
He speaks again, silent words, his emotions he's shown.
Words come to me..."No more will you fall."
"My arms are here to hold you up, giving you what you
consider "tall".
"I take from your heart, the broken-ness; healing it with
trust aplenty.
"I take from your soul, the pain that once made it
empty."
" I give back to you, your spirit, strong and true."
"No more in life; will I let hurt touch you".
"I will fight your battles with you, no more do you stand
alone."
"For I have come for you, to take you home.
As I my soul soars on wings of pure delight.
My soul fills with his love, so beautiful; so right.
As he lays me down, and makes gentle love to me.
I know I am at the place, my life was meant to be.
As he takes my pleasure of him, to heaven and above.
I give myself, completely to his undying love.
I, Woman, have my "dream of dreams".
Yet, I slowly awaken, my night filled with life's schemes.
I come to an understanding, that dreams are only dreams.
