Southern Comfort
The sun rises into the hills
As the birds hide away in their nests
With the darkness comes the silence
But soon the silence is broken
And he cries again- screams with pain
TEars form in my eyes
But they don't dare roll down my cheek
It hurts me to watch

The next day brings light
Bruises and scratches show he's been bad
They question us, they question him
"He was bad- mommy didn't mean it"
But they don't care about explanations
The police some iwth their warrents
They come with their pain
And they take him away
They drag him away into the hills
Into the night- and again he screams
And agian I hold back my tears
It hurts to watch
And the next day- he doesn't come back
The light brings nothing
