Chapter 2 – The Process

For the next few days, Rydell watched the purple man make the coffee and leave. One day, Rydell decided to try to stop the purple man/coffee cycle. He timed his path to intersect with the purple man as he walked into the office to make the coffee. He started by looking the purple man right in the eyes to see how he would react. Mr. Purple didn’t so much as blink. He kept right on walking to the coffee machine. Rydell followed him, and grabbed the purple man’s hand to stop him from taking the coffee can out of the cabinet. Mr. Purple stopped and glared.

“Don’t stop the process. Not just yet.” His voice was, well, not human. It was as if the man spoke with three voices at once, and all of them sounded like they wanted to devour Rydell’s soul.. Rydell just glared back.

“Who are you?” The purple man grinned and looked around. Some people were staring at Rydell, a few whispering to each other.

“Meet me in the parking lot when you get out. You’ll be working late tonight.”
