We prayed that we could keep him
for just a little while
Just long enough to hold him
and maybe see him smile
But Jesus in his wisdom,
said that’s not to be
and took him home to
heaven to spend eternity
I never got to hold him
I never heard him cry
But someday I’ll be with him
