Those we believe to have been hidden or dismissed are collectively referred to as "the Lost". Most Inside believe that those who are Hidden fuse with the Host, while those dismissed are sent to the Neverwhere. I decided to group them accordingly, so as to end some confusion. (I reiterate here that their status is merely an assumption.)
Note: In learning more about the Lost, we have come to believe that their absence may not be so permenant as we thought. A few have returned briefly, and in that we feel it is unlikely that any have ever truly left us, with the possible exception of those who we believe have died.
Hidden
Gabriel: Male, of unknown age. Very openly pro-Christ. Taught us how to pray and forgive. Reassuring and gentle. Became Lost in April 2002.
Piers: Male, 26 or 28. From Yesua, former child prison labour camp inductee. Escaped at 15 and joined Resistance. Hunted by Rahkas. Spoke of wife Christine (dead) and son Isoceles (missing)...Became Lost on the weekend before Hallowe'en 1995, though it was quite awhile before we knew for certain that he was gone. We believe him to be dead.
Sulekhi: Female adult. Made sure things ran smoothly in the Collective. Clear mind, rational thought. Very basically a mother-away-from-home.
Rémy: Young adult male, he was an avid listener, romaticized life. Wrote poetry; enjoyed classic novels and plays, jazz and classical music, and expensive wines. His nickname was Julien, or formally, Rémy Julien. He is out rarely now.
Dixhuit: Adult male, comprised of both Rémy and Deuce; this fusion worked well in the Collective for various reasons, but mostly because of a mutual respect for each others' strengths. Rémy listened and was able to soothe, while Deuce spoke without revealing and brought truth to the forefront.
Bastien: Eccentric male in his late twenties. Prefered to be alone, but had taken Rane as an apprentice. Spoke with very interesting slang, if he decided to let you hear him.
Dismissed
Brynin: Female, 20 or 22. "Bad girl", wanted to party and experiment with drugs. Thought of sex as a way to get what she desired. Selfish and suicidal.
Domenic: Male, age 12 or 13. Violent, feral. So dangerous (borderline homocidal) that he was locked in the Deadbox for our protection.
Nina: Female, age 17 or 18. Accent or mild speech impediment. Had severe issues with eating disorders. Thought that being thin equalled perfection.
Valkyrie: Adult female, very European mannerisms. Dressed in brightly coloured sarongs and veils. Very quiet...some say she was mute. Loved to dance and was very artistic. She kept a small spice garden with which to occupy her time. Was incredibly subserviant and prefered Niven make all her personal decisions, such as what she wears or what activities she may participate in any given day. She maintained that she felt safe in doing so.
Rane: Elven female, approximately thirteen years of age. Was apprenticed to Bastien, in the art of cataloging and storing memories and sensations. Died September 2003 due to trauma associated with Bastien's sudden disappearance.
