Chapter One

AN: Review, Review, Review! Oh and did I mention Review? ;)

Carrie half stood up in the cab and paid the driver who pointed at the door in return. Carrie looked confused and mimicked his moves by pointing at the door beside her. The driver nodded and started tapping his fingers on the arm rest, anxiously. Destiny and Coral looked at Carrie in amusement.
“I think he wants us to get out.” Destiny finally said.
“Oh...is THAT what he wanted? I thought something was wrong with his finger.”
“Carrie, Carrie, Carrie...” Coral chanted as the three of them walked out of the cab. The driver looked thankful, mumbled some profanities and turned his head back towards the road. Carrie stuck her tongue out at him which caused her to trip over the sidewalk. The cab driver took no notice of her mishap and drove, splashing her with mud.

“What the hell?” Carrie looked at herself in disbelief.
“See, I told you it was a bad idea to wear white. Lying about your innocence will always come back to haunt you.” Destiny tried her best not to laugh.
“It’s a good thing you don’t have a white thing in your closet.” Coral smirked.
“Ain’t that the truth. Come here and give your best friend a hug.” Carrie smiled as she walked over to Destiny in a Frankenstein manner.
“Don’t take this the wrong way because I love you and all but not a chance in hell.” Destiny jumped back as fast as she could.
“I think you should take your shirt off, Carrie.”
“Nah uh, Coral. I won’t strip for you until you buy me dinner! What has the world come to?” Carrie gasped.
“Oh yippie. Do I get to be in your little insult group now?” Coral shook her head in disbelief.
“You always were in it. Don’t feel deprived. Anyway Carrie, just go with Corz and buy a sweatshirt in one of those souvenir places. I’ll wait right there.” Destiny pointed at a restaurant across the street.
“Why do I have to go?” Coral whined.
“Because you opened your big mouth. Now shoo! Be gone.” Destiny gently shoved the two toward the stand. When she was finally alone, she rummaged through her purse in order to find her cell phone. As soon as she got a hold of it, she stuck it in her pocket and carefully crossed the street. The restaurant had a charm to it. The wooden walls and the fireplace gave the room a warm ambiance, exactly what she needed on a rainy day. The hostess led her to a table and she sat down.

“Aw, nice pink underwear, Des.” Carrie commented.
“Nice sweatshirt, mickey mouse lover.” Destiny commented on Carrie’s new apparel.
“Extra low cut, looks good but is a pain in the ass when you sit down.” Destiny grumbled and moved to the chair which was positioned against the wall.
“Food!” Carrie gobbled down one of the rolls on the table.
“Um, yeah, enjoy. I have to go to the bathroom.” Destiny jumped off the chair and felt the cell phone in her pocket.
“The sad thing is that she thinks we don’t know she has the cell phone there.” Coral chuckled and stretched her arm out to reach for a roll.
“Yeah well, if she wants to cheat on her little agreement with AJ and with us, let her.” Carrie shrugged, grabbed the roll Coral was holding and buttered it up for herself.
“Whoa there. Leave one for me.” Coral slapped her friend’s hand.

“Answer damnitt...” Destiny tapped her foot on the floor in frustration.
“ ‘Lo?” AJ said, out of breath.
“Alex?”
“Yeah.” AJ sunk in his seat as he recognized the voice on the other side.
“Why are you out of breath?”
“My phone kept ringing so Kevin told me, no wait Kevin threatened me to put the cell back in my car or he’d do something that involved hurting my private parts with a monster truck...I wasn’t really listening. I was half way to the studio when I heard it ringing so I ran back.”
“Ouch!” Destiny scrunched her nose up.

“Tell me about it. So, you weren’t kidding about that time thing were you?” He stated, uncomfortably.
“I really didn’t think it would be such a long time.” Destiny sighed.
“So it was enough for you too?” He perked up.
“Too long if you ask me.”
“So um, would you go out with me tonight?”
“No.” She retorted.
“No?” he asked in disappointment.
“Oh honey, I didn’t mean it like that. I mean I would say yes but I don’t think you could fly out here.”
“Fly out where?”
“Italy.”
“What are you doing in Italy?”
“Hanging around.”
“And you called MY CELL? Destiny this is going to cost a fortune!”
“Sorry.” she chuckled.

"Forget about it, automatic reaction. When are you coming back?”
“A month...”
“A month?” He whimpered.
“I would change my plans but I have two other people to consider.” Destiny explained.
“Fine.” He exhaled.
“Don’t be mad.”
“Crap Destiny, think fast!” AJ ducked as Kevin grabbed the phone from his hands.
“Who’s this?” She heard his stern voice.
“Um...Kristin, lover boy.”
“Try again.”
“Dr. Ruth?”
“Why would Alexander James McLean need Dr. Ruth?” Kevin questioned.
“Maybe he likes the body wash.” Destiny said.
Kevin was silent.
“Oh, oh, oh! Or maybe AJ’s having an affair with her!” Destiny hopped up and down in her place.
“Des?” Kevin asked in a weird tone.
“That’s my name, sport.”
“Please don’t ever mention AJ and Dr. Ruth in a sexual manner again.”
“Aw why not? I think she could teach him a few things.”
“I’m blinded for life!” Kevin cringed in disgust and handed the phone over to Nick.
“Destiny!”

“NICKERS!”
“Can I talk to Carrie?”
“Sorry, Carrie’s not in the stall with me.”
“You’re in the bathroom?”
“Mmhmm.”
“Why did you call us from the bathroom?” Nick asked in horror.
“Because I ate something bad and ya know I figured I’d be here for a while so what better place to keep up with my friends?” Destiny laughed.
“Ew...” was all Nick could get out.
“I was just kidding, Nick. I just wanted someplace quiet. I’m not really supposed to be calling you guys.”
“Miss me that much?”
“Oh yeah. That’s it Nick. I miss your sexiness.”
“I knew it.” He flashed a victorious smile.
“Can you kindly hand the phone back to AJ now?” Destiny pleaded.
“Okay...but just a warning, once Kevin gets over his mental image, he’ll attack.” Nick said.

“Back.” AJ said.
“You’re not wearing red are you?” Destiny asked
“No, why?”
“Wouldn’t want Kevin to go all bull on you and ram his head into your side.”
“Can you see the headline? ‘Kevin Richardson rams his head into fellow Backstreet brother, AJ McLean.”
“That would be nasty.”
“But at least it would get them to stop talking about Serenity.”
“How are you handling that?” Destiny asked, with pure concern.
“I just stay away from magazine stands.” He said, uneasy.
“So, um do you want my flight schedule?” Destiny changed the subject.
“Sure.” AJ sighed and wrote the information on his hand.

“Hey Destiny.” Carrie smiled widely.
“Hey Carrie. What’s up with the cheshire cat look?”
“You were gone for 30 minutes.” Carrie responded, pointing at her watch.
“Yeah, so?”
“That’s a long time.”
“So, how’s Brian?” Coral smiled, resting her arm on Destiny’s shoulder.
“And Nick?”
“They’re fine.” Destiny pouted.
“Can I have the phone now?” Carrie asked.
“I wouldn’t advise it.”
“Why not? You just called them.”
“Kevin’s in a bad mood.”
“No phone it is.” Coral and Carrie said at the same time.

A month later, Carrie and Destiny were in the living room of Carrie and Coral’s hotel room, dressed in their warmest clothes. They were waiting for Coral to get out of her bedroom.
“Well, good thing you’re sharing a room with her. If she had a room by herself, I don’t think we’d ever get her out.”
“We didn’t get her out.” Carrie reminded her.
“True, but we will.” Destiny got a mischievous look her face. Destiny got up quietly and signaled for Carrie to follow her. They opened Coral’s bedroom to find her in a deep slumber. Coral shook her had in disapproval. Destiny got closer to the sleeping figure and positioned herself right next to the girl’s ear.
“GET UP SOLDIER!” Destiny yelled.
“YES SIR, RIGHT AWAY SIR.” Coral jumped out of bed and ran to get dressed.
“What the hell?” Carrie looked confused.
“Her uncle was in the army and used that on her from time to time.” Destiny said.
“That was pure evil.” Coral yelled from the bathroom.
“It got you up and we’re already late so deal!”

“Damn, Damn, Damn, DAMN.” AJ repeated.
“What’s wrong with you?” Howie asked.
“Destiny’s coming in tomorrow.”
“And that’s a bad thing?”
“I’m just nervous.”
“AJ McLean? Nervous?”
“You know all that thinking I told you about?”
“Yeah?” Howie jumped on the counter and drank some more of his soda.
“I didn’t really know how to react to Destiny being gone. My first reaction was anger because she just disappeared. No warning or anything and I just needed her near me. But at the same time I knew we needed to be apart. I got used to thinking of her and seeing her in my dreams. I thought up this perfect person and you know, when I’m able to control her words, it always turns out my way. What If she comes in tomorrow and spoils all those things for me? I honestly don’t think I could go on.” He confessed.

“AJ, Let me just get it out and tell you that she’s not going to be the person you have in your mind right now. If the person you thought up is saying the words you want her to say, she’s just reflecting your thoughts. Destiny’s her own person and a very opinionated one at that. If things don’t work out, it wasn’t meant to be. But that time I saw you two together, you had sparks flying and hitting us all in the damn eye. Just give it a chance. Let things happens. Don’t expect anything just go with the flow.”
“Thanks Dear Abby.” AJ smiled.
“I am not some middled age lady.” Howie crossed his arms.
“My bad. Thank you Howard Censored.”

“Are you sure changing was a good idea, Carrie? It looks pretty gray outside.” Destiny looked out through the windows of the Orlando airport.
“It always looks gray in Florida, it’s rarely cold.” Carrie said
“Yeah, I know but...whatever. You better be right.” Destiny said and wheeled her suitcase. Soon the found their way out of the airport and were at the greeting area. They directed their faces to the floor, not wanting hundreds of people see their physical state after being stuck in a plane for hours on hours. Destiny lifted her head once in a while hoping her eyes would meet those familiar, warm brown eyes. Every time she was left disappointed. He wasn’t in sight.
“Hey you guys, I want to go over to that book store. I need to catch up on some good ole tabloid gossip.” Carrie made her way through the crowd of people. Destiny and Coral followed her unwillingly.

“Hey you.” A raspy voice was heard from behind Destiny.
Destiny turned around and smiled.
“Your suitcase just ran over my foot.” AJ said raising his eyebrows.
“Did it? I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll just get my lawyer to call yours.”
She jumped into his arms excitedly.
“I missed you.” She kissed the tip of his nose.
“That much, huh?”
“Yeah...” She jumped out of his arms, still embracing him tightly.
“Are you insane? It’s 40 degrees out.” He said, tugging at the clothes she was wearing.
“CARRIE!” Destiny called to her friend in frustration.
“I didn’t know...” Carrie said looking up from the magazines.
“How did you know what I was talking about?”
“Good hearing?”
“You can borrow my sweatshirt.” AJ said as he removed the oversized shirt from his body, handing it to her. He was left in his wifebeater.
“I don’t want you to get a cold."
“If I do, you’ll just have to take care of me, won’t you?” He smirked.
“Oh yeah, lots of chicken soup.”
