Chapter 16

AN: I kinda don’t like this chapter so if you wrote me with some feedback it would make me feel better and encourage me to write some more alright? I hate to use the no feedback=no story rule but...hey if it’s called for :P

“Are we there yet?” Nick whined from his seat.
“No, Nick, we’re not. If we were there, you’d see the van would be parking right now and we would be slowly getting out. But as you can see, we’re in the middle of the road, still driving extremely fast and cars are flashing by like a cow on acid.” Kevin said with an annoyed tone.
“By the way, I thought you were sleeping.” Kevin retorted. The voice quieted down.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” Kevin smirked and returned to his call with Kristin.
“Kev...” AJ said as he nudged Kevin in ribs.
“What?” Kevin replied, obviously frustrated by the repeated interruptions.
“Just wondering if you could switch seats with me?” AJ asked with a hoarse voice.
“Nevermind that, what the hell happened to our voice?”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s raspy.”
“I hate to break this to you Kev, but my voice is always raspy.”
“Funny McLean. Are you getting sick?”
“Whatcha talking about? I never get sick.” AJ replied with confidence.
“Right.”
“Anyway, can we switch seats now?”
“Yeah, yeah. Didn’t possibly think you could last an entire hour without Destiny.” He said pointing at the sleeping girl on his right. Her head was leaning on the window, using it as a pillow. She was softly sniffing in her sleep.

“Well, wouldn’t want her to wake up to your face now would we, Kev?” AJ facetiously said. “No, we wouldn’t want her falling for a married man.” Kevin said as he got up and switched seats with his eager friend.
“Aw, she’s sleeping again.” AJ said, cooing over his girlfriend.
“Good observation skills, Bone.” Brian chuckled from his seat.
“Don’t all of you have something better to do than pick on me?”
“Yeah, sure.” Coral said.
“Thank you.” he replied.
“Pick on Brian.” Coral concluded with a grin.

“Funny.” Brian sighed and moved nervously in his seat.
“You know I’m just kidding...” Coral said light heartedly.
“Are you? I don’t think you are.” He said quietly.
“I don’t want to fight anymore, Brian.”
“What?”
“I really, really don’t.” She said and squeezed his hand.
“What exactly are you saying?”
“I don’t know.”
“O...okay.” he stuttered.
“Just letting this absurd feud end and letting whatever happen.” She whispered into his ear.
“Coral, you can’t do this to me.”
“Do what?” “One second you’re on, the next you’re off. Decide what the hell you want to do.” He said getting louder with every word.
“Brian, I don’t think this is the time.”
“I don’t care what they think. WE KISSED. We shared something and you’re just confusing the hell out of me.”

Destiny woke up at the sound of the yelling and sent a questioning look in AJ’s direction. He shrugged and shooshed her with his finger.

“Bri, do me a favor man.” Nick said perking up, trying to ignore the previous argument.
“Yeah?” Brian rolled his eyes at the insensitivity and turned his glance to his friend.
“Hand me that backpack over there.”
“Sure.” Brian grabbed the bag and threw it to his friend.
“Thanks.” He replied and started rummaging through the bag, in search of his phone.
“Uh huh.” He crossed his arms and returned to his sulking. “Hmmm.” Carrie mumbled in her sleep and nuzzled her head into Nick’s neck.
“Should I wake her up?” Nick said, apparently uncomfortable about this new position.
“Nah, she probably thinks you’re Spencer.” Coral replied.
“Who’s that?” Nick questioned.
“Her dog.”
“HER DOG?” was heard by three different voices.
“Geez, I was KIDDING. He’s her fiancé, don’t have a cow.”
“Right.” Nick said and returned to dialing a number.
“Serenity! Baby, what’s up?” Nick literally yelled into the phone.
Carrie groggily woke up at the sound of the conversation. She could hear Serenity’s squeaky voice from where she was sitting and it was making her sick to the stomach.

“I just wanted to tell you we were leaving. I’ll let you get back to your beauty sleep now.” Nick said just as loudly.
“And she certainly needs it.” Carrie whispered, remembering the way she was treated that day at the hospital.
Nick literally shoved her off him when he heard that.
“I love you too. I’ll miss you.” He flirtatiously said and quickly hung up the phone.

“What the hell was that, Carrie?”
“What?” she said innocently.
“You friggin called my girlfriend ugly.”
“YOUR WHAT?” Destiny yelled.
“You heard me, my girlfriend.”
“Wow...when did this happen?”
“When we got out of the hospital.”
“Right...and this was a week after she bugged you on the plane and dropped suitcases on your head, giving you a concussion.” Destiny said questioning the newly found relationship.
“Yeah, well...Destiny, just because you dislike her for some idiotic reason doesn’t mean she’s the devil.”
“She is the devil.”
“Des, this is my best friend we’re talking about.” AJ reminded her.
“I know baby, I just don’t like her.”
“And Nick, it wasn’t an idiotic reason she tried to steal my boyfriend. Don’t get me wrong, you’re a great guy and I’m sure you’ll find a great girl but for god sakes Nick what makes you think that this girl really wants YOU for who you are inside and not only for the mere fact that you’re close to Alex.” Destiny said quickly.
“Yeah okay Destiny, whatever.” Nick replied indifferent to her words.
“Okay, Nick, whatever.” She mimicked his tone of voice.

The rest of the drive was silent. No one dared to say a word to eachother. There was conflict between every second person in that van and in such a small space, it wasn’t healthy to get into an argument. The airport was desolate at such an hour and they had no problem getting through customs without being recognized.

“You guys, I’m hungry.” Nick announced as they entered the duty free area.
“That’s great Nick. Thanks for sharing.” Brian said, sitting on the first chair he saw.
“What’s up your ass?”
“I don’t know what was up yours earlier? Maybe it’s contagious.” Brian snapped and moved away from the blonde.
“Woo is someone PMSing?” Nick asked.
Carrie smacked his head.
“Ouch, what was that for?”
“That was crude.” She said shocked at his chauvinist remark.
“Sorry. Well, I’m gonna go down and get some food.”
“We’re leaving in 5.” Kevin pointed at his watch.
“So?”
“So be back.” Howie and Kevin said at the same time.
“Yeah, fine.” Nick said as he started walking off.
Suddenly he stopped and looked back at the group.
“Where’s the food court?”
“The other direction.” Howie smirked.
“Right, I knew that. I was just playing with you, D.” Nick said as he turned around.
“I would hope since there’s a sign up there and all.”
“Get a sense of humor.”
“I thought I had one.” Howie defended himself.
“You thought wrong.” Nick patted Howie’s back and walked toward the sign.
“And all of that just to avoid looking dumb?” Kevin asked amused.

Meanwhile Destiny and AJ were holding hands, walking past the stores, stopping at times to admire an object.

“Those would look great on you!” Destiny pointed at a pair of sunglasses in the window case.
“Yeah? You like em?”
“Sure but then again I wouldn’t be surprised if you already own that pair.”
“I don’t even remember what I own...”
“Ah. Well, forgot about those then.” Destiny said as she started walking again.
He pulled her back.
“Wha?” She asked.
“Those would look great on you.”
“Oh god AJ really? You always know how to flatter a lady.” Brian squeaked in a high pitched voice, sneaking up on both of them.
“Fucking hell Bri, what the fuck was that for?” AJ gave his friend a threatening look.
“Whoa, I take back what I said. A gentlemen would never use that ‘lingo’ around a lady. I’ll treat you better.” Brian said winking at Destiny.
“Jesus, what the hell is wrong with you, Brian?” AJ asked snapping his fingers in front of Brian’s face.
“Whatever do you mean?” He chirped.
“You’re acting all weird.”
“Don’t be threatened just because I’m hitting on your girl, man. She’s too blinded to see who she should really be with.” He slurred.
“And who’s that?” AJ asked angrily.
“Me.”
“WHAT THE FUCK?” AJ pounced at him.
“Stay back.” Destiny said getting in the middle of the two.
“But...but...” AJ started to plead his case.
“God AJ, he’s frickin drunk. Can’t you tell?” Destiny said with a worried look on her face.
“Are you serious? How’s that possible? He never drinks.”
“Of all people to notice...” Destiny started.
“I just didn’t think it was even a possibility.” AJ started as he calmed down.
“Yeah, I know. Follow me, Bri.” She said as she grabbed the man’s hand and led him to a vacant lounge.
Brian looked back, winked at AJ, threw his hand in the air and gave him the finger.
“I will not kill him...” AJ growled as he followed from behind.

“Brian...” Destiny said as she sat down.
Brian was still standing and was about to walk away when Destiny pulled him by the shirt and forced him to sit down.
“What the hell?” Brian asked annoyed and started getting up.
“Brian, I want to talk to you!” Destiny said.
“And I care, why?”
“Because I’m your friend, maybe?”
“That’s great.”
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Littrell?”
“I don’t know Des, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Stop butting into everyone’s business.”
“What?”
“Are you a parrot? Do you enjoy repeating yourself? You heard me.”
“Wow Brian, I was pretty aware that drinking changed a person but I never thought it would get this bad, especially not with you.” Destiny said in disappointment.

Brian covered his ears with his hands and started humming “Mary had a little lamb” loudly. Soon he started moving to the music he was creating. He jumped up from his seat and started dancing in circles, eventually collapsing on the floor due to the dizziness.

“Oh god, this is going to be a long flight...” Destiny sighed.

Nick was standing in line to Burger King, tapping his foot on the floor impatiently. He looked down at the floor and started counting the tiles. He swore as yelling from the front interrupted his count. He looked up annoyed as he was faced with an amusing sight.

“Are you even listening to me?” A man with an unknown accent asked.
“I’m sorry sir. What is your complaint?” The employee tried to sound as polite as possible.
“There no vegtoobles in da boorger.” The man continued speaking.
“Excuse me?” The woman asked confused, not able to understand the customer.
“You joking me?”
“I’m sorry. No, I just don’t understand you, sir.”
“You make a laugh about me.” He said getting annoyed.
“No!” She said honestly.
“I think he wants some vegetables in his sandwich.” a woman from behind said interrupting the two.
“I’m sorry. I don’t think I can do that. You ordered a cheeseburger. It doesn’t come with lettuce or tomato. If you want, you can order another burger that does come with those toppings.”
“NO. I have dis boorger. I pay good money and you deserve to give me the vegootbles.”

Nick chuckled as the line of costumers was slowly disappearing as the two were still arguing over a burger. Before he knew it, he was standing at the front. He could finally see the scene clearly. The manager was already called out with three other employees, all arguing with one foreign, stubborn costumer. Nick looked at his watch and saw that he had about one minute to get the food and bail. He grabbed his wallet from his back pocket and took out a few bills.

“Get me a whopper and whatever this gentleman here wants. My flight’s leaving in a few and I really need it urgently.” He said placing the bills on the counter and waving his fingers in the air. The employees rushed to prepare two new burgers, thankful to rid of that unwanted conversation.

“You’re Justin Timberlake, no?” The foreign man asked Nick.
“How about...no?” Nick said in horror.
“You Lance Bass?” The man tried again.
“Nope.”
“Chris Kirkpatrick?”
“Man, stop while you’re ahead. I’m not in Nsync.”
“You look like you should be.”
“Um...thank you, I think.
“You how do you say? Preppy.”
“Dude, I’m buying you’re a burger the least you can do is not stand here and insult me!” Nick said.
“Me? No.” The man said innocently.
“Okay.” Nick said as he nodded in thanks to the employee who returned with his food in a brown paper bag.
“The name’s Nick Carter, foo.” Nick said as he ran to catch his flight.

“Brian, how much did you drink?” Destiny said kneeling over the figure lying on the floor.
“Um, 1 or 2.” Brian said, showing Destiny 10 fingers.
“That’s 10, darling.”
“Yep, add 1 or 2 to that.” Brian giggled.
“This was not smart, Littrell.” She said getting up and offering him a hand.
He took it but didn’t even make an effort to pick himself up.
“Carry me, beautiful!” Brian said as he threw his arms in the air.
“That’s going to happen.” Destiny looked at him strangely.
“Help me?” She asked turning to AJ who was just looking at this scene with fright in his eyes.
“Yeah...sure.” He mumbled incoherently and stepped up to help his girlfriend.
Together they grabbed the numb man and got him up to his feet. They allowed him to lean on the both of them as they walked toward their gate.

“Was I ever this bad?”
“Well...yes.” Destiny said softly.
“I’m sorry.”
“It wasn’t your fault. Alcohol has a funny way of doing this to people.”
“Helloooo I’m still here.” Brian said stopping in his tracks.
“Brian, move.” Destiny demanded.
“Nope, not until you pay attention to me.”
“Stop being a baby and walk. You might think we can afford you being shit faced right now but we can’t so get your drunk skunk ass moving so we can make our flight because if we don’t, you’re going to have to face millions of angry fans and journalists.” AJ said, officially pissed off.
“Whoa, someone has an attitude problem.” Brian said as he started walking again.

“Kevin! My cousin!” Brian yelled as he ran toward Kevin.
“What’s up with him?” Kevin asked pointing down at Brian.
“Wasted.” AJ said simply.
“He drinks?” Coral asked with disgust.
“No, he never drinks.” Howie answered.
“Random thing?” Carrie asked.
“I doubt it. He must have been upset.”
“I don’t want him to get carried away.” AJ said sincerely.
“Oh wow...This must be hard to watch.” Carrie said, offering AJ a hug.
“Hey, I’m okay. It’s just him I’m worried about.” He accepted the hug.
“What’s the cause?”
“I think I know...” Destiny replied.
“Coral?”
“Yeah.” Destiny sighed.

“Hey you...” Brian said as he plopped down by Coral.
“Hey.” She said simply.
“Sup?”
“Nothing...” she smelled the liquor from his breath.
“So you really want to my friend?”
“Sure Brian, that would be nice.” Coral said calmly.
“Too bad. That’s not going to happen.”
“Why not?”
“Because you’re too old to be playing with toys.” Brian said as he got up.
“I’m not playing you, Bri.”
“I think you are. Whoa.” He said as he got dizzy and fell on Coral’s lap.
Shocked by the extra weight she shoved him off and he fell on the floor.
“If someone doesn’t stop doing that, I’m going to break something back there.” He pat his behind.
“Brian, we proved we could get along why can’t we just be friends?” She asked warmly.
“Way over you babe. Got bigger fish to fry...” He said.
“To fry?” He questioned himself. He shrugged and walked away.

With much struggle, they finally found themselves on the long flight back to Sweden. The flight was drama free because most of them were sleeping the entire time. The alcohol finally got to Brian’s system and caused him to doze off until 5 minutes before the plane landed. AJ and Destiny were to absorbed in eachother’s cuteness to care about what was going on around them. The rest just casually pretended like nothing was on their mind and rested before the strenuous tour began.
