Chapter 17

AN: If you haven't already, check out the note on the main page. Thanks for the people who wrote in (Esp. Ashley who wrote two letters. lol) I feel loved.

Four weeks into the tour, the guys and their crew were in Norway. The show they were supposed to have that night was cancelled due to a technical problem. Ignoring the boys’ groaning, moaning and whining, their manager decided to add another two dates in Norway at the end of the tour to make up for the one missed concert. The canceled date gave them a day off but neither one of them was showing much excitement. After all, there isn’t much a person can do when they’re snowed in. AJ groggily rolled out of bed to grab another tissue from the bathroom of the hotel room he was staying at. Much to Kevin’s concern, he and Destiny have been exchanging germs for the past few weeks, neither able to rid of the virus they possessed. Sick of the coughing, sneezing and dirty tissues thrown all over the place, he decided to separate the two. Two separate rooms until they were able to function normally. Meaning, not coughing up any vital organs every few minutes. AJ lazily returned to bed and just as he covered his fragile body with the sweet smelling blanket, a knock was heard. He groaned as he took the pillow and covered his head with it. The knock was heard again. He started kicking his legs in the air and moaning as he refused to get out of bed.

“AJ?” The voiced said.
“GO AWAY.” He managed to yell.
“And If I don’t?” The voice teased.
“Then I’ll have to call my bodyguard on you.”
“Watch me shake.”
“There’s this door problem so I guess I’ll have to rely on my imagination.”
“Come on Jay, just let me in.”
“Fine Nick, enter.” AJ said, giving in and opening the door.
“Thank you, oh mighty one.”
“You keep that up and you can leave.”
“I’ll only be a second, chill.”
“I don’t think I get any cooler.” He said while cuddling around the blankets.
“Yeah well, I just wanted to make sure it’s okay with you if Serenity came over for a while.”
“On tour?”
“Um yeah. Where else?”
“I don’t know about that, Nick.”
“Why not? And anyway, it’s not like I need permission from you. I just wanted to be civil.”
“Don’t get all Mr. Authority with me. I just don’t think Destiny or Carrie for that matter would like that much.”
“They can just stay away from us.” He said as he left the room.
“Yeah, the only problem is, I don’t think she’ll stay away from them.” He said quietly to himself.

“99 bottles of beer on the wall 99 bottles of beer...” Destiny sang in a nasal voice as she pointed to imaginary bottles on the wall facing her. Bored out of her mind, she decided to go downstairs to the lobby. Forgetting that she was wearing only pajamas, she hopped excitedly, high on the cold medicine down the hall. As she walked down, people were giving her weird looks and pointing at her apparel.
“What?” She questioned.
She looked down at her clothes and felt a hot flash reach her cheeks. She turned to a few of the people looking at her.
“It’s Destiny Thompson. It’ll be out in fall. Now keep your fingers to yourself.” She said quickly and rushed back to her room to change.

As she returned outside she bumped into Brian.
“Bri?”
“Dye?”
“Huh?”
“What?”
“Okay, wow lets start over.” She said confused.
Brian rolled his eyes.
“As much as I would love to do that I have somewhere to go.”
“Where exactly is that?”
“Back to my room.” He simply said.
“To do what? It’s boring as hell.” She questioned.
“I don’t know. Order something from room service, maybe.”
“Mind if I join you?”
“Don’t take this the wrong way but yeah, I do.” He said nervously fiddling with the jacket he was wearing.
“Oh, okay.” She said trying to keep the hurt to herself.
“Are you mad?” He asked sincerely for once in a long time.
“I’ll live.”
“I’m sorry Des but I gotta run.” He said and hurriedly ran back to his room.
Destiny turned her back to him and started walking in the other direction as she heard a loud crashing sound. She turned around quickly and made her way back to Brian.

“What happened?” She asked in horror looking down at the broken glass.
“Nothing, just had a little accident.”
“Let me help you clean up.”
“You really don’t have to do that.”
“I want to. I might be sick but I’m not dead.”
“Destiny, really don’t.”
“Brian, don’t be stupid.” She bent down on her knees and started piling the glass into a tissue. The aroma of alcohol filled the air.
“God Brian, tell me you didn’t.”
“What? I’m not allowed to drink now?”
“Not the whole frickin mini bar!” She yelled angrily.
“Whatever.”
“WHATEVER? That’s what you have to say for your defense?” She asked.
“Last time I checked Des, we’re not in court and I’m not under oath so I don’t have to answer. I’m at legal age and I have a right to drink. I’m not driving so I can’t be arrested. I did NOTHING illegal.”
“Maybe not to the law this country goes by but you’re harming yourself and the people around you.”
“Oh yeah, I’m so sure the world is being destroyed because Brian Thomas Littrell had a few drinks.”
“I didn’t mean it like that.”
“You can’t blame me for the everyone’s problems.”
“I’m not.”
“Yes you are, Destiny.”
“Okay fine, forget about generalizations. Brian, you’re hurting yourself. What about your voice?”
“What about it?”
She sighed, frustrated.
“Forget about that, more importantly, what about your health?”
“I don’t do this often.”
“You’ve been doing it more and more often lately, Brian. And I’ve been covering up for you for way too long. You’ve been waking up with these major hangovers and I’m always the one who has to run down to Kevin and explain to him that you got some stomach flu or that your stupid alarm clock didn’t work. It’s getting old. Get to your senses and stop.” She said finally standing up.

He stared at her with a cold look in his eyes. From this moment on, she knew the Brian who was one the sane, sober one. The Brian who was goofy and pure at all times was gone and he was replaced by this person she couldn’t tolerate.
“Get a grip, Destiny. The world hasn’t come to an end. Now if you’ll excuse me.”
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“I’m going to the lobby. I hear something’s going on there tonight.”
“Aren’t you at least going to help me clean?”
“Well, you seemed so eager to clean, so clean.”
“You are such an asshole, Littrell.”
“I can say the same about you, Des.” He slurred and left the scene. “What am I going to do?” She asked herself and continued cleaning the glass from the floor.

Meanwhile, Carrie and Coral were sitting around a table in the meeting room the hotel allowed them to use for an hour. They were both having an amazing time since they both have never been out of the United States until this tour. The two really bonded while the guys were practicing for their shows. They used to sneak out and go touring around the cities, checking out all the historic sights and taking millions of goofy pictures. Carrie seemed to always have a camera on hand and every time someone did anything embarrassing, she was sure to capture it. The BSB family welcomed her with opens arms from the moment they saw her. There was no way you could look at her face and not trust her. She was the loveable, hyper, charismatic one. Coral on the other hand was a little more quiet around them. She didn’t know how they would perceive her after the whole drama she had with Brian. The guys on the other hand, weren’t fast to judge. They took their time to get to know her and in time she opened up to them. They got to know the real Coral. A person who was a little insecure but would always be there for them. She would always try to help and always seem to have the right thing to say, they loved that about her.

“I miss you too, Spencer.” Carrie said, talking on her cell phone.
Coral tapped her fingers impatiently on the table.
“I love you even more!” She said with a sudden burst of energy.
“I don’t doubt that Carrie...What time is it back in the US anyway?” She asked not really caring if Carrie was listening to her.
Carrie looked at her with a questioning look and started counting with her fingers.
“1 am.” She whispered with the answer.
“Shouldn’t Spency Wency be in bed, honey?” Coral asked with a smile.
Carrie replied by shooshing her friend.
“So sorry.” Coral whispered and started tapping her foot now.
“I love you even more than that!” Carrie said returning her attention back to the conversation.
An idea popped into Coral’s head as she grabbed the phone from her unsuspecting friend.
“Listen Spencer, I’m gonna be the judge here and you both love eacother equally now before we both get fired, I’ll just say bye for you. She’ll call you back tomorrow.” Coral hung up and placed the phone in her pocket.

“No cell for you until we get this site done.”
“We’ve been sitting here for the past half n hour with no ideas.”
“I know, I know.” Coral said.
“And now we have about 10 minutes left.” Carrie said hopelessly.
“Trust me I know. But we gotta come up with something because the deadline for is tomorrow. We need some sort of plan.”
“Okay, so we’re trying to get into a fan’s head.”
“Exactly. We want to give them the information that no else knows.”
“Why not do what we do now?” Carrie questioned.
“Nothing?” Coral asked.
Carrie giggled, “No. Take pictures, film videos...”
“You mean a blooper site?”
“It’s not exactly a blooper. It’s stuff they do on their own will cause that’s the real them. Just post the ones that aren’t really THAT embarrassing on the site. And also include diaries and interviews. Basically make them feel like they are here without completely invading they boys’ privacy.”
“Sure, sounds like a good idea.”
“Name?” Carrie asked.
“Completely Outta Whack.”
“That sounds about right.” Carrie smiled at the title. “And we’re done.” Coral announced. “Alright. We’re outta here with 5 minutes to spare.”
“Mind if we grab some food?”
“Sure, there’s that restaurant in the lobby.”
“Do we really have to listen to that pianist again?” Coral cringed.
“God, I hope it’s not the same one. I couldn’t stand that woman’s playing.”
Coral nodded. “It was like she came from hell.”
“Yep, you’d think she had something personal against those keys, the way she hit them was horrific.” Carrie said bewildered.
“I know. I jumped out of my chair every time she started a new song.”

Brian was sitting at a table, drinking his second margarita when a teenage girl approached him.
“Excuse me, you’re Brian Littrell aren’t you?” She said with a thick accent. “Am I? Let me check.” He said grabbing his wallet from the back pocket of his jeans. He searched through the credit cards and removed his drivers licence.

“Yep, apparently I am.” He said showing her the card.
She giggled not knowing what to say.
“So where you from?” He asked her.
“From around here.”
“Yeah? Watcha doing in this hotel?”
“Friends of our family own it. They asked me to come help them this weekend.”
“Oh.” He said.
“I really love your music.”
“I’m glad.” He said with a smile as he sipped some more of his drink.
“I don’t really know what to say.”
“Then don’t say anything.” He said as he leaned over to kiss her.

Another knock was heard at AJ’s door. Angrily, he got out of bed. He grabbed a robe from the closet as he opened the door.
“WHAT?” He yelled forgetting he was supposed to watch his voice.
“It’s always nice to see you too, honey.” Destiny replied overwhelmed by his greeting.
“Whoa, sorry. I thought you were Nick.”
“Now I look like Nick?” She pouted.
“No and that’s good for my sake.”
“Sexy robe.” She winked.
“Yeah, I’m just the image of sexiness.” He said looking at himself in the mirror doors of the closet.
“Hey, so you have a cold. They’re only germs.”
“And they’re my germs.”
“Making them what? Magical?” She questioned.
“Obviously.” He signaled for her to come in.
She did and he closed the door behind her.
“So what are you doing here? Aren’t you afraid to disobey the all might Kevincules?”
“Kevincules?”
“Hercules - Kevincules...It sounded witty in my brain.” He shrugged.
She laughed. “Nah, I’m not scared of Kevin. I just need to talk.”
“You came over here to talk?” He asked in disappointment.
“Yeah, now stop being a baby and listen.” She teased.
“Must I?” He whined.
“Yes, you must.” She said with a serious look on her face.”
“Uh oh, this isn’t good is it?”
“No, it isn’t.” She sighed.
“Sit down.” He offered pointing to the chair.
Just as soon as she opened her mouth to speak, Nick came bursting in the door.
“She’s COMING! She finally organized to come here in three DAYS!” He yelled excitedly.
“How the hell did you get in?”
“I stole your key from Kevin.”
“Oh great. Now give it back.” AJ said grabbing the plastic card back from Nick.
“Touch-ee.” Nick said.
“You would be too if you’ve been trying to sleep the entire day but a 6 ft tall blonde keeps bursting into the room.”
“I got the hint, I’ll leave.” Nick said.
“Thank you.”
“Whoa Des, what are you doing here?”
“Well currently, I’m sitting.”
“You’re not following the rules.” Nick said in a sing-song voice.
“What are you going to do? Tell your mommy on us?” AJ asked.
“Nah, I’ll tell Kevin.” Nick said with a smile.
“I dare you.”
“Is that a threat?”
“Uh no, it was a dare.” AJ said.
“Same thing.” Nick said as he waved his arm in the arm and left.

“Back to what you were saying.” AJ said as he removed the robe and returned under the blankets.
“Who’s coming in three days?”
“Huh? Oh, Serenity.”
“Joy. Happy times have come again.” She said sarcastically.
“Sorry...I tried to tell him not to but he...” He stumbled.
“Forget about it. Serenity doesn’t worry me.” She gave him half a smile.
“What is it?” He asked.
“It’s about Brian. He’s lost control.”
“What do you mean?”
“He’s been drinking for the past two weeks...excessively.” She finally said and took a deep breath.

“Isn’t that cute?” Carrie asked pointing at a couple kissing in the corner.
“Aw yeah, almost as much as you and Spencer.” Coral said pinching her friend’s cheek.
“Ouch. Why do I feel like I’m at a family reunion suddenly?”
Coral laughed. “I don’t know.” She said with an innocent look.
“Wait a minute...Isn’t that Brian?” Carrie asked pointing at the guy.
“Umm...holy shit, it is.” Coral said with a shocked look on her face.
“Who’s the girl?” Carrie asked
“I have no clue...” Coral said, stupefied by the scene.
“Well Watson, we’re going to find out.” Carrie said grabbing Coral’s hand.
“Where’s the hat and pipe, Holmes?” Coral teased.
“At home. Elementary! my dear Watson, Elementary.”
Coral burst out laughing and followed Carrie to Brian’s table. Carrie stopped her as they were a few feet away from the table.
“I feel bad spying on him.” Coral confessed.
“We’re not spying. We’re observing.”
“The difference is?” Coral asked.
“None really, It just sounds better. Don’t ya think?”
“Sure, why not.”
“They’re all over eachother.” Carrie said.
“You have a thing for stating the obvious.” Coral giggled.
“Damn right I do.” She said proudly.
“You remind me so much of Nick at times.”
“Uhh thank you?”
“Just thinking out loud.” Coral said.
“No problem. It happens to the best of us.”
“Carrie, where the hell is he going with her?” Coral said
“I don’t know but she does not look old enough to be going anywhere with him.”
“She looks about 16.”
“We have to stop this.” Carrie said and ran to catch up with Brian and his nightly fling.

“Ahem.” Carrie said loudly as she reached her desired location.
“Yeah?” Brian said turning around.
“Hey Bri.” Carrie greeted warmly.
“Hey Carrie. This is uhh I’m sorry I don’t know how to pronounce your name.” Brian lied.
The girl smiled, believing his every word. “I’m Helia.”
“That’s a cool name. It means sun in Greek, doesn’t it?”
The girl nodded.
“Cool. Anyway, I hate to cut your evening short but we’re having a meeting upstairs and we really need you, Brian.”
“You do, do you?” He asked in disbelief.
“Yeah we do.”
“Alright. It was nice meeting you, Helia. We’ll be in touch.” He said and he gave her a warm hug. She waved her goodbye and departed from them. Coral was leaning on a pole by the elevator, waiting for them.

“What the hell was that about, Carrie? I know damn well there isn’t a meeting.”
“That’s not the point, Brian. You were going to sleep with her.”
“I was not.”
“Yeah you were.” Coral said.
“You weren’t even there so don’t get involved.” Brian snapped.
“And so what if i was?” He demanded to know.
“She’s not older than 16, Brian. You would have gone to jail.”
“Yeah, whatever. The laws might be different here.”
“They might be but it’s NOT right. You’re 27 for Gods sake.”
“Big boohoo. Why is everyone on my back? Why can’t I have ANY fun? Why is it not normal for me to drink or kiss some stranger? All of you wouldn’t have gotten so crazy if it was someone else.” He yelled and shook his head trying to get the dizziness away.
“Brian, you’re not thinking sensibly. Let us walk you to your room and just go to bed.” Coral said with a worried look.
“Damnitt Coral would you shut up? I don’t want to hear anything come out of your mouth. You’re the main cause for this whole thing I’m going through so just QUIT it.” He said and walked toward the elevator, pressing the button about 20 times in a row.
“Work you damn thing.” He said angrily.
When the doors finally opened he walked in and before he could say or do anything Coral and Carrie barged in. They pressed the button that closed the door and the elevator started going up.

AJ sighed. He’s never been on this side of the problem. For once he knew how his friends and family felt when he was in trouble. He looked at Destiny and pat the bed, motioning for her to come sit next to him. She nodded and got under the blanket. He pulled her into an embrace. They stayed that way until another person entered the room.
“Who the hell is here now?” AJ said impatiently.
“Not a nice way to greet your visitors, Alex.” Kevin said.
“It seems to be a trend, though.” Destiny said.
“How many keys DO you have to this room?” AJ asked.
“Only the one Nick took.” Kevin said as he sat down.
“Then how in the world did you get in here?” He said, letting go of Destiny.
“Told the maid I got locked out.”
“Ha.” Destiny said as she climbed out of the bed.
“Come back!” AJ pleaded.
“Are you that desperate, bro?” Kevin asked amused.
“No, that’s okay. I really should get back to my room.” Destiny said.
“Yeah Bone, she really should. Your voice, remember?”
“I KNOW we’re on tour, Kevin. But my voice is fine. Anyway, we’re on antibiotics meaning it’s not contagious anymore. I’m just nasal.”
“That’s what you say but you also said you NEVER get sick.” Kevin laughed.
“Don’t be smart.”
“That’s almost as saying don’t be stupid to Nick.” Kevin joked.
“You’re really giddy tonight Kev, what’s up?” Destiny asked.
“Maybe he got a new supply of viagra.” AJ said.
“Ha, Ha, Ha. Actually, I just got off the phone with Kristin.”
“Good for you, Kev.” Destiny said and gave him a pat on the back.
“And then you used the viagra?” AJ winked
“No then Nick burst in telling me that you’re in here TOGETHER.”
“I hate to ruin the moment even more but may I have a word with you?” Destiny asked.
“Sure.” Kevin replied and Destiny told him about Brian.

The doors of the elevator opened and Brian started walking in the direction of his room only to be pulled by Carrie in the other direction.
“Sorry ladies but my room is that way.” He said pointing left.
“I know where you room is but we’re going to Kevin’s room.”
“And why are we going to Kevin’s room? Family bonding time?” Brian questioned.
“Nah, maybe he’ll knock some sense into you.” Carrie said.
As they passed AJ’s room, they heard Kevin yell ‘WHAT?’
“I think we found him.” Carrie said with a victorious smile.
Coral nodded and knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Destiny said as she opened the door wide.
“Thanks.” Carrie said and sort of shoved Brian in. She followed and Coral came in last, closing the door behind her.
“Hey Cuz.” Kevin said.
“Why do I have a feeling y’all were talking about me?” Brian said giving Destiny an evil look.
“You and me, we need to talk.” Kevin said, dragging his cousin out of the room into somewhere private. The remaining group looked at eachother knowing that it wouldn’t be a peaceful night for Brian or Kevin. All they could do was hope that Kevin would help get Brian back to his senses.

Five days passed and no one spoke of that night in Norway. The morning after, a tired looking Kevin approached the group and told them that after speaking to Brian for the entire night, he promised not to drink. They didn’t know how much that meant at the time. Even though they could always count Brian’s word in the past, they weren’t so sure this time around. He was different but they had to try and believe. Brian had kept his word. He hadn’t been drinking but it’s only been four days and they’ve gone by pretty quickly. He tried to stay out of Coral’s way. He finally figured out that the reason he was drinking was because he was upset over the fact that him and Coral weren’t together and the closest she wanted to get to him was his friend. But he didn’t need another friend. As of now, if he couldn’t be what he wanted her to be, she wouldn’t be in his life at all.

Nick was spending every free moment with Serenity. To everyone’s surprised she seemed to be happy with Nick. Every time they saw her she was either laughing or completely fascinated in what he had to say. The group was currently in the bus traveling to the next city they were to perform in.
“Hey Nick, I’m gonna go get a soda, you want anything?” Serenity asked as she got up from the cough she was sitting on.
“No, I’m okay.” Nick mumbled, completely absorbed in the movie they were watching.
“Alright, I’ll be right back.” Serenity said and started walking over to the kitchen.
“Hey.” AJ greeted her and sipped some more of his water.
“Hey you, what’s up?” She asked her best friend.”
“Nothing, got a tad thirsty. What are you doing up?”
“Watching a movie with Nick.”
“Oh. Having fun?”
“Yeah, I really am. Thanks for allowing me to come.”
“It wasn’t me but sure, it’s been cool having you around.”
“Yeah?” She questioned.
“Yeah.” He answered.
“I finally got over my fear of flying, too!” She declared.
“I see that. Good for you.” He said.
“Suddenly, I’m really hungry. Anything left?”
“Yeah, I don’t think Brian and Nick ate everything in there yet.”
“Wow! they left a few donuts. Amazing!” she said as she grabbed one.
“Oh give me one of those.” He said and she handed him one. Hungrily, he bit into one.
“So how have you been, Alex?”
“Pretty good. Better than that actually.”
“I’m happy for you.”
“Thanks.”
“Sure.”
“Look, I better go back to bed. I’ll talk to you later. Enjoy that movie.”
“I’ll see ya later, McLean.”

In the morning, they stopped at a deserted fast food joint for breakfast. The crew gathered up outside and went their separate way, enjoying the time their recreational time.

“Get us a table, will ya?” AJ asked his girlfriend and she nodded.
“Yeah sure, get me uhh whatever you can as long as it doesn’t involve some animals brains.”
“I won’t repeat your mistake, Des.” AJ said and went to order the food. Destiny sat at a table only the be joined by Howie and Coral.
“Hey you guys, I need to go to freshen up. Tell Alex I’ll be right back, okay?” She requested.
They looked up at her, nodded and returned to their conversation.
Destiny searched around and entered the ladies bathroom. She washed her face with water, put on some makeup and brushed her hair. Happy with the results she exited the bathroom and by accident, bumped into a guy from the crew.
“Whoa, sorry Jordan. Didn’t see you there.” Destiny apologized.
“It’s okay. So how are you? I haven’t seen you in ages.”
“I’m good. Got over my cold, finally.”
“I can see that. Your voice is clear.”
“Yeah, don’t sound like I’m on my death bed anymore.”
“I doubt your angelic voice could sound that bad.”
“Oh trust me it did.” She said overlooking the compliment.
“Well you’re okay now.”
“Yeah. So how are you doing?”
“I’m good. But I could be better...”
“I’m sorry. Is there anything I can do to help?” She asked with concern.
“Well something that would make it better is this.” He leaped at her and kissed her strongly on the lips. It only took her a few seconds to realize what was happening and she violently pushed him away.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Jordan? You know damn well I have a boyfriend. You know what just leave me alone. I don’t want to hear any excuses just go to hell.” She said and stormed away. She returned to the table only to see AJ wasn’t there.
“Where’s Alex?” She questioned.
“He went to look for you. Are you okay? You look flushed.” Howie asked.
“Shit.” Destiny said and ran toward the bus.
When she finally got up the steps she heard sobbing coming from the bunks. Remorse and guilt crept through her body as she looked for her boyfriend. She shivered when she saw AJ’s body curled up in the corner. She never thought she would ever see him like this. AJ McLean was known to be tough, strong and right now he was the opposite of it.
“Alex?”
He didn’t bother looking up at her. He tired to stop crying, without success.
“AJ it wasn’t...” She tried to explain but he stopped her.
“It wasn’t anything, blah, blah, blah I don’t need the bullshit, Destiny.” He said trying to get a sentence out between his sobs.
She stared at him blankly.
“It’s done. It’s over. We’re over.” He finally said, got up and walked away from her.
