Chapter 5

“Where in the world are those 3?” Kevin said starring at the chairs occupied by bags.
“I dunno ...I’ll go look for them.” Howie responded
“Okay, just don’t go disappearing on me like they did. Our flight is boarding in less than 10 minutes!”
“Geez, that soon? We only arrived here like 30 minutes ago.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“I’ll go look for them but I guess they’ll hear the flight announcement anyway.”
“True. You know what? Forget it, they’re all adults they can find their way back.”
“Okay, I’m just going to get some gum for the flight.”
“Alright, be back in 10.”
“I will.” He said as he walked away.
Destiny didn’t know what to think. She never expected him to say those word and especially not after what she said to him. She stood frozen. Thoughts racing through her head. Neither one of them knew what to say. The right words were not in sight and she truly doubted if those words even existed.

Destiny really made AJ think about himself and the way he was behaving toward her. He never really meant to push her away but in his sub conscious he knew he was. Perhaps he didn’t want to admit it. He didn’t want to admit that he was acting badly because all he could think about was how she started this. He didn’t even want to think about the possibility that he had something to do with it, that he had any part in this. He was not guilty. Or at least that’s what he thought until she told him how she felt. Up to that moment he never really fully admitted to his ways. During that time his thoughts went back to the first time he met her. He thought she was beautiful. And of course, being himself he flirted shamelessly with her. He definitely did send her a single and he scolded himself for being angry at her for doing something that deep down he wanted her to do. He remembered how he felt the minute he saw her. That feeling remained every day, even through the times he was trying to shut his heart out. His heart never lied to him, he realized that now. He lied to himself. Love is scary. He just couldn’t deal with it at his young age and with his busy career. Love has many stages and each one is probably scarier to the other. Fears such as getting ‘too’ serious, the fear of the fights that may come along and the fear of settling down. but that thought of losing her. And probably losing her to someone else was even scarier. He couldn’t see her with anyone else but himself. Jealousy came to him as soon as he even thought about it. That’s when he decided to rush down and declare his feelings to her.

“I...uh” Destiny mumbled.
“Are you serious?” she managed to say.
“As a heart attack.”
“I...wow.”
“Do you guys want us to leave?” Nick asked.
Putting all the pieces together he somewhat understood what was going on. And hey, even if he didn’t know every detail, he still knew they had to be alone. Him and Brian definitely did not belong in this awkward situation.

“If you don’t mind.” AJ replied.
“Not at all, C’mon Nick.”
“Right behind you.”
“So...” “Want to sit?” He offered. “Yeah, sure.”

They walked toward the bench and sat down, facing eachother. Destiny starred into AJ’s eyes and for a change she saw compassion.

“Um, all I can say is that I’m really surprised. Definitely did not expect this.”
“You mean you didn’t intend me to come running after you after that speech you gave me?” He joked.
“Not really...well maybe running after me with your famous comebacks. Never expected you to say that.” She said with her eyes to the floor.
“I know I’ve been pretty mean to you.” He paused, a bit irritated by the fact that she wasn’t looking him in the eye. Slowly he lifted her neck so she was facing him again. “I’m really sorry about that.”
“Flight 204 to Miami International Airport Boarding now at Gate 42.”
“Great timing.” “I know right” she smiled “I guess we should go.”
“Yeah.” She said as they both got up. “Hey AJ...”
“Yep?”
“I...I want to...oh screw it” She laughed “About time you got to your senses boy.”
He laughed
“All thanks to you.”
“Damn right, I was fixing on kicking your butt if you kept acting like that.”
“Aw...” A smirk came to his face “How about smacking it instead”
“Getting a bit a head of ourselves aren’t we.”
“Oh well...at least we’re making progress.”
“That we are.”
“But you know what?”
“What’s that?”
“We’re LATE.”
“I really don’t get why we’re going to Miami anyways.”
“Ha right, guess we got some free time.”
“For how long?” “The tour was delayed for 2 weeks.”
“Not too bad. I can’t wait to get back.”
“Does that mean you’re coming back?”
“You bet your ass I am.”
“Phew...saved me there.”
“Wha?”
“Kev gave me a scolding for chasing you away.”
“Good for him.”
“Hey!”
She laughed “Good for him.”
She repeated as they walked up the stairs.

Destiny was practically glowing. She couldn’t help it. She didn’t mean to get all excited over a guy but she was. From the moment she saw him she was blinded by him. All his flaws were just invisible to her eyes. And now he was feeling the same way. Or at least that’s what she hoped. Only time would tell.

A girl came rushing in the airport, running toward the gate the Backstreet Boys were departing from. She was definitely a mystery. She kept herself a secret and becoming close to her would be a slow process. Towering over people with average height, she rushed to make it on time. Her wavy hair was dark as the night and her eyes were emerald green. Little did she knows that her ‘chase’ was just beginning. She urged to see him but when she did it’s not what she expected. He was holding a girl’s hand. Talking and laughing as they walked together. Pain and betrayal filled her body.
