AN: Here I am, beginning a new story. Yet, I feel comfortable because they're the same loveable characters. Write me and tell me what you think. Enjoy!
“Mrs. Littrell! Mrs. Littrell! Can I have your autograph?” Destiny shrieked in a high pitched voice as she ran towards Coral.
“Funny, Des.” Coral murmured and sat down on the bed of Destiny’s hotel room in Rome, Italy.
Five months had passed since Coral and Brian have gotten married and they spent every minute together, until Coral received a call from Destiny. She had informed her that her and Carrie had been spending some time in Italy and invited her to come along since Nick just left and they both had some free time on their hands. After convincing Brian to let her go for an entire month, she packed her bags, kissed him goodbye and jumped on the plane. Brian was wary about letting his wife out of his reach for what seemed to be a long period of time but knew she would have more fun with her friends since it was time for the Backstreet Boys to get back to work.
“And oh my god! Can I have that shirt? I’m sure Brian touched it!” Destiny continued in the same tone.
“No you may not. I’m freezing my ass off as it is.” Coral stuck her tongue out and rubbed her arms through the jacket she was wearing.
“No one told you to come over here in a tank top.” Destiny returned to her normal voice.
“I know, I know. You seem happy.” Coral said, standing up and opening her arms wide for a hug.
“I am. Some big things have been happening in my life.” Destiny hugged her friend and snapped away her jacket, by twirling her around.
“OH MY GOD A BRIAN SOUVENIR!” Destiny jumped up and down.
“Destiny!” Coral growled.
“So, how is it being an old married couple?” Destiny returned the jacket.
“I wouldn’t call us an old married couple?”
“Ah, so the sex is still hot?” Destiny winked.
“DESTINY!” Coral said as the rosy red color came to her cheeks.
“You crack me up. I missed you, Corz.”
“I missed you too. So what things have been happening in your life? And by any chance does AJ have something to do with your giddiness?” Coral asked.
Destiny sighed and shook her head.
“I haven’t spoken to AJ since he came over to my house on his wedding day.”
“That long?” Coral questioned with a surprised look on her face.
“I told him I didn’t want to be the rebound girl. I thought it would be better for us to just be apart for a while. I’m going back next month anyway, and I work with him so yeah, I’ll see him soon.” Destiny hesitated.
Coral sensed her uneasiness and quickly changed the subject.
“So what has been going on?”
“I got the leading role in a movie.” Destiny said with a bright smile.
Before Coral could respond a loud banging was heard at the door. Destiny covered her ears in frustration and walked over to the door. As soon as she cracked the door open, the person on the other side opened it widely.
“Coral!” Carrie waved.
“Can I have a hug with that wave?” Coral asked.
“Nope, just fries.”
“Fries? Why didn’t you mention that before? Screw the hug.” Coral said, jokingly.
“Hey! I take offense at that.” Carrie whimpered.
“Carrie’s just upset Nick’s gone.” Destiny laughed.
“Am not! I am doing just fine without him.”
“Staying in your room, staring at the ceiling and repetitively mumbling his name is not doing fine, honey.” Destiny said as she patted Carrie’s back.
“That’s not because of Nick, Des. That’s just because you’re boring.” Carrie teased.
“Why you little...” Destiny jumped on Carrie’s back.
“Lay off the wheaties.” Carrie said, struggling to maintain balance with the weight on her back.
Destiny groaned in anger and moved her knee to kick Carrie in the ass. In triumph, she jumped off the girls back and sat on a chair, further in the room.
“That was mature, Des.” Carrie said, finally closing the door to the room.
“And you know all about being mature cause you’re dating the king of maturity.” Destiny said, sarcastically.
“Ahem, still here.” Coral raised her hand.
“Sorry.” They both said.
“Don’t worry about it. This is better than Jerry Springer.”
“I wouldn’t hit Carrie with a chair. A giant plastic hammer, maybe, a chair, no.” Destiny shrugged.
“You keep threatening but never yet have you actually done it.” Carrie stuck her tongue out.
“It was much quieter here when her and Mr. Maturity were sucking face.” Destiny replied.
“Always been the one to say things in such a romantic way.” Carrie shook her head.
“I happen to be very poetic. Listen up...” Destiny flashed her hand in front of her face and tried her hardest to make a serious face.
“Mousey, Mousey where are you? Mousey, Mousey what shall I do? Shall I get you in a trap? Should I kick you out? Mousey, Mousy you’re so white. You’re so squeaky, you could be mistaken for Richard Simmons. Mousey, Mousey all I know is you must go. Goodbye Mousey.” Destiny said in a low, depressive voice. When she was done she bowed and walked over to the closet, in order to choose her next wardrobe.
The look on Carrie and Coral’s faces was priceless, a combination between fear and amusement. Neither could decide which reaction they should lean toward. After a few minutes in complete silence, they burst out laughing. Destiny flashed them a smile and searched for the right outfit.
“What kind of clothes are you looking for? Black? To go with your poetic mood?” Carrie asked.
“Nah, I keep my work separate from my party life.” Destiny explained.
“Speaking of work, what was that thing about a movie?” Coral asked as she tugged on Destiny’s shirt, resembling an impatient child.
“She hasn’t told you yet? That’s a story on its own!” Carrie bounced on the bed.
“Down Carrie. Nick already broke one bed.” Destiny said as she pulled out a pair of leather pants and a black tank top, which had Bitch written on it in golden letters.
“Nick broke a bed?” Coral asked.
“Yeah and don’t let your mind wander to the gutter. He was jumping on it, waiting for me to get ready one day.” Destiny said as she placed the clothes on the chair beside her.
“Don’t try to change the subject, Des. Tell her about the movie.”
“She was the one who asked, Carrie. Anyways, I was really bored one day so I was just touring around, getting off at every bus stop across the city. And I see this sign that basically said ‘Closed for Auditions’ so, I sneaked in. Grabbed a script from the pile they had and continued munching on my donut. So I’m just watching people, laughing hysterically at how much they sucked. Each one giving me an evil look as they stepped off the stage. Eventually this duder with really bad hair, sticking up like he just got out of bed walks up to me. Personally, I think he was tugging at his hair seeing all these people trying to perform. The keyword being trying, quite obviously. Anyway, so he comes up to me and he asks me if I think I can do any better. I agreed and just walked up there and read the same segment I heard being read over and over. Mind you I will still holding my donut so he comes up to me, grabs my hand and smothered himself in donut. After he uh got cleaned up, he told me I got the job...I don’t really know how but, yeah. I read the script that night and things just went on from there. It’s not a blockbuster production but it’s a private movie and it will air in the states since the producers are from there. They just taped it here. I’m pretty psyched.” Destiny said and finally exhaled.
“Wow...leave it to you.” Coral said, trying to swallow the news.
“Yeah, I know. It was pretty lucky.” Destiny admitted.
“When’s it coming out?”
“I don’t really know. I’m outta the loop. They have to edit it and stuff. I don’t know! I’m not Ms. Hollywood.”
“No, you’re Ms. Thompson.” Carrie said.
“And now she’s getting the Carter humor.” Destiny said in horror.
“So are we going out?” Carrie asked, ignoring Destiny’s comment.
“If Coral’s up to it.”
“Well, I’m standing so just drag me.” Coral said.
Carrie and Destiny looked at eachother sheepishly. Each grabbed one of her arms and dragged her like a heavy suitcase out the door.
“I didn’t mean it literally!” Coral’s yelling could be heard miles away.
“Sup Rok?” Nick mumbled as he walked into the studio and plopped down on the nearest seat.
“Still tired?” Brian asked in amusement.
“It’s six am and I’m jet lagged!” Nick whined.
“No one said you had to go to visit your girlfriend.”
“No one said we had to record here either.”
“You want to record in Europe?”
“Sure, why not?”
“Maybe because that would make the rest of us jet lagged.” Brian sat down on the couch beside Nick.
“Whatever, where’s everyone?” Nick questioned, looking around the empty studio.
“Whatever girlfriend! I am so not talking to you right now!” Brian mimicked a valley girl.
“Rok...”
“Late, as always.” Brian finally answered.
“Even Kevin?” Nick’s eyes widened.
“Kristin just came back last night so I’m guessing he didn’t get much sleep.” Brian answered.
“Brian, this marriage is making you think in a whole different way, isn’t it?” Nick joked.
“I didn’t even mean it like that but, ok.” Brian smiled.
“I was stuck in traffic, Kev! Honestly, there was this chick in front of me and she was in labor so the car stopped and I had to wait. It really wasn’t my fault cause I got up extra early just so I could make it on time! You know I’m always on time the first day of recording!” AJ barged in.
“He’s not here.” Brian smirked.
“Oh, never mind then. What’s up?” AJ leaned against the wall.
“Nothing much. I haven’t heard much from you in the past few months.” Brian said, sipping some of the coffee he prepared for himself earlier.
“I would love to say that I was searching for myself in India but for real, I just spent some time with my family and shopped for a new wardrobe.” AJ replied.
“Uh oh, sent the mall into another depression period?” Brian gasped.
“You betcha. Well I didn’t touch the women departments.”
“Why not? I thought you love to wear women’s lingerie.” Nick winked at his friend.
“You think you’re so funny , don’t you?” AJ snarled.
“Doesn’t everybody?”
“No. I did look through Victoria Secret, though. Not much of a secret, if you know what I’m saying.” AJ laughed.
“Okay, we’re here. We can start.” Kevin and Howie walked in followed by producers.
“Kevin bro, this is not cool. You need to be here on time because you’re taking the time away from our recording. We said six and we meant six, not 6:30, not 6:45, SIX. The number six followed by two zeros. Comprende?” AJ asked, patronizing Kevin the way Kevin always did when someone was late.
“Shove it.” Kevin shoved AJ out of the way and started working immediately.
“What time is it in Florida?” Carrie asked when the three of them were comfortably situated in the cab.
“if it’s 1pm here then It’s about 7am there and don’t even ask because you can’t call Nick.” Destiny said, grabbing Carrie’s purse.
“But...But!” Carrie argued.
“Yep, that guy definitely has a fine butt!” Destiny tapped the window, pointing at strangers.
“That 50 year old man?” Coral asked, actually looking outside.
“Ew Des, his butt was like huge.” Carrie shivered.
“Oh my god Becky. Look at her butt it is soooo big.” Coral played along.
“Shut up! I wasn’t even looking.” Destiny said and covered her ears.
“But you said...”
“I said what I said to keep Carrie here quiet.” Destiny replied and leaned her head against the window. She felt some magazine beside her feet so she pulled them up and started looking through them. Destiny cringed as she saw reporters were still dwelling on AJ’s breakup.
“This is sickening. Can’t they just find something else to talk about?” Destiny said, throwing the paper to her side.
“I guess not. I just hope this isn’t bothering AJ too much.” Coral sighed.
“I’m sure US press found some new gossip to spread. If we’re good at anything, it’s scandals.” Carrie said.
Destiny was silent for the rest of the trip. She wanted to call him but would he forgive her for losing contact with him for such a long amount of time? This question irked her but she couldn’t build the courage to find the answers.
“Only a phone call away.” She whispered to herself.
