REVIEW

Perfect Dark is a popular game, but what makes it so popular? Read below to uncover my aspect of the game.

Graphics

Most people judge a game by graphics, which I'm against. It doesn't matter how great graphics are, it's judged by the quality of the storyline. In some parts of the game, Joanna looks fine, but other parts, plain ugly. In combat simulator, when you view the back of simulant's heads in character select, some of them have bad hairdays or gross pony-tails. That's not too judge on though! When you shoot out a light bulb, for instance, sparks fly from it occasionally. When you shoot the glass in the good looking levels like the Grid, many real-shaped broken glass pieces fall. Even though that can cause a glitch in one area of that level, it's still fun to watch. All in all, the graphics are quality.

Sound

Sound is one of my favorite things in the game. The main sound is the chattering of the soldiers. They don't move their mouths but things like "I never liked him anyway" or "Get her!" can be heard near the soldier. Sometimes you may over hear hear a conversation by the door of the room which they are talking in. That's always fun.

Another type of sound is the music. It's like when the Super Mario 3 theme song plays, you automatically recognize it. That has a similarity with some Perfect Dark songs. The sounds have nice rhythm. You can also choose a particular song to listen to while playing combat simulator.

Characters

Joanna Dark is the main character in Perfect Dark. Unlike GoldenEye, the main character is female, which gives us a different way of seeing things. She has a brother, Jonathan, who shows up in a few levels and a sister, Velvet, who doesn't appear in the game at all, but can be used in Co-Op for second player. I think they picked out some good outfits for Mr. Blonde, who has a long white trench coat and Cassandra, a blue dress. Her necklace fits well. Her secretary in the orange dress can at first be confused as Cassandra's daughter. But she's not. Elvis, a popular alien, is a very good "extra" to the game. GoldenEye did not have aliens in it, which gives us new stuff to figure out about Elvis. He is very helpful in levels...his Calissto works well. Oh, and he doesn't sing real well. There is Trent Easton, but who really cares about that bloke?

Levels

GoldenEye had some great levels, but Perfect Dark beat it. I enjoy playing the solo mission levels but what's really fun is having a chance to play in some of those levels in combat simulator. Combat simulator can provide many levels to battle it out on once you achive some goals. A popular level, the Grid, is very similar to the Grid in the Matrix movie. Seeing the Grid in Perfect Dark and then watching the part of the movie in Matrix in which the Grid is involved excites many. The Complex, Felicty, and Temple are some classic levels included in Perfect Dark. In conclusion, the levels are very fun to discover new hideouts and secrets in.

In conclusion, Perfect Dark has some awesome features, some good, some bad. So buy Perfect Dark today, and enjoy it.
