YIKES! The icky brown spots of dead weeds!
Jon and I moved the 2 middle bushes from the rosegarden to fill this area in.
My sister-in-law, Cheryl, gave me a bunch of plants when we were at her house in January.
This is the BIG pineapple bush.
View of the A/C area from the side.
It's pretty dark, but maybe you can see the lava rock around the A/C unit.
Here are the baby elephant ears!
If you didn't know, elephant ears are 'tubers'. Like a potato they send out shoots, either above or under ground. That's how they spread! They are 'perennial'; that means they come back every year.
I remember the difference between what an 'annual' is and a 'perennial' is by thinking that "perennials are PERSISTENT; annuals aren't".
This area will be elephant ears and banana trees.
Here is the first rosebud of the season! Isn't it HUGE!?!?!
The rosebud has OPENED! There are a TON more rosebuds on this one bush!
We erected a shed over the weekend. (April 24 and 25, 2004) If it weren't for my friend Christine, it would NOT have gotten done over the weekend... You may want to look here regarding this experience ...
We had to re-vamp the turtle run. It was a prety cold winter and we lost a lot of plants. Needless to say, the goldfish didn't make it, but HEY! The turtle did!
Jessica and I planted 5 new plants to include the SAGO PALM and 2 ferns. We're going to be putting some elephant ears along the pond and the sides later this week.
