One of these seasons I'm going to change the layout of this webpage but don't hold your breath. We're coming off the first playoff season we've ever had so we do have some momentum going into this season. Our league got switched so we will be playing some new teams this season. Mickey pulled some strings with management to get some new blood on the team this year so we'll see how that pans out for us.
The top three teams make the playoffs this season so it's looking good for us.
Game 1: G-Men 15 Water Boys 11- I wasn't able to attend this game due to my honeymoon in Jamaica but
evidently it was "No problem, mon" since the team blew out the Water Boys. Mickey came through with a 5 for 5 job at the plate. John Greenland
pitched a solid game and was backed up by a very good defense. The future is looking bright for the G-Men.
Injury Report: Out: Rico - ankle injury, married future Physical Therapist for full recovery
Game 2: G-Men 18 The Loners 17- What started out as a blowout turned into too close of a game. We
were up by 4 runs going into what should have been the last inning however The Loners retired our side 1,2,3 and gave them one more inning which they took
full advantage of. They ended up scoring 8 runs to take the lead. Little did our fans know that we did this to set up a glorious finish. Jeff Hall
hit the winning RBI with 2 outs left to seal the deal (Jeff: you can thank me later for taking the pressure off with a little tying RBI of my own). The 2 out rally
hopefully pleased our fans enough to come out and support us next time. Special thanks to our new fan, Duane, for coming out to support the G-Men. Our
Manager Mickey Neal hit his first home run and thus John Greenland's Late-O-Meter is no longer needed. Our new tracking system is at the bottom
of this page.
Game 3: G-Men 12 Santa Barbara Brew Co. 19- Our winning streak came to an end. Brew Co.
got out to an early lead because of our poor hitting and even worse fielding. However we did manage to stage a comeback by scoring 9 runs in
one inning to tie the game and get one more inning. Unfortunately on the ensuing inning Brew Co. managed to stay at bat until the time ran out. Our
new teammate Brian Morris got his first RBI of his G-Men career so congrats to him. Other than that, not much in the way of highlights which reminds
me of our previous seasons.
Game 4: G-Men 7 Los Tucanes 12- We played the best team of this league by far. We didn't
have much margin for error as they were a great fielding team. We started out on top 4-1 but our bats didn't come through for us while the Tucanes
were struggling at the plate. Unfortunately after a few key errors the snowball effect began and their rout was on. Again, not much in the
way of highlights. For anti-highlights I did manage to strike out. That was nice. We're heading into the bye week with a 2-2 record. We
have to hope Los Tucanes slip up and we can beat the teams we should.
Injury Report: Out: Jeff - We don't want to know
Game 5: G-Men 7 Goleta Water Boys 9- We blew a good opportunity to solidify our playoff hopes.
If we had hit better this game would've been ours since their defense was lacking. On the plus side, after the 1st inning we played really well on defense. Many
people were playing in a new position. Jeff Hall started at 2nd base for the first time and even came up with a double play. Eric Johnson kept a
couple of hits from turning into doubles in the outfield and despite playing for the first time in a while, Ken Mixter was solid in left field. Unfortunately
when it came to hitting we were very quiet. Very quiet indeed.
Injury Report: Out: Ryan, Dave B.- Evidently the Pearl Jam concert was a bigger draw than G-Men Softball. Imagine that.
Game 6: G-Men vs. Loners- This game was postponed after the geniuses at Santa Barbara Parks and Rec. couldn't
turn on the lights for the game. We'll probably play this game at the end of the season and it could determine whether or not we make the playoffs.
Game 7: G-Men 15 Santa Barbara Brew Co. 12- Our best game of the season so far. We
managed to score every inning and made only 1 baserunning mistake this game. For us, that's a tremendous accomplishment.
Although we did make a few mistakes in the infield we played a solid game defensively overall. Mike Lindahl made a couple great scoops at
first base. Shane made a highlight reel diving catch early in the game. We managed to hold our lead throughout
the game even though our cushion kept getting smaller. The win really helped us towards getting a spot in the playoffs. One more win and
we clinch a spot for sure. Or, like last season, we can back in to the playoffs with a little help from other teams.
Injury Report: Out: Jeff Hall - Stuck on an island for criminals
Game 8: G-Men 9 Los Tucanes 14- Once again our last game of the season will determine
whether or not we make the playoffs. In a hard fought game we couldn't generate enough runs to beat the #1 team in our league. The top
of our lineup averaged 1 for 3 at the plate. In order for us to make the playoffs we'll have to do much better than that. Our defense played
well though. John Greenland pitched an excellent game and our fielding was great. Shane almost came up with another diving catch and
our infield came up with some very good plays. The only trouble we had was our attempts to throw around the infield after we made an out. I checked
with the last place Water Boys who said they lost last week to The Loners so the winner of next week's game determines the last seed in the playoffs. Actually,
if we tie we would make the final seed, but for all intents and purposes this is a must win game so hopefully everybody hits the batting cages before the game.
We need as many fans as possible to cheer us on!
Game 6 Revisited: G-Men 29 The Loners 4- With a playoff berth on the line the G-Men pulled
through in the clutch. Hits were going everywhere, errors were being made, but this time it wasn't by us. Our previous best offensive night was 21 runs.
Tonight that record was demolished. So many of our players had a great offensive night. Brian Morris had his first 2 hits of his G-Men Career. Jason went 3 for 3.
I went 4 for 4. Ryan Wenger hit a Single, Triple and a Home Run going 3 for 3 and just missed hitting the cycle.
Jeff Mintz hit the G-Men's first Grand Slam ever. You have to look at this guys stats, he's leading or near the top of every statistical category.
Maybe he was trying to impress his soon-to-be child. Maybe he should've waited until the child was born, a little more grown up and able to see it happen.
Either way, baby better wait until playoffs are over before baby jets out of the womb. We go into the playoffs on a high note and ready to take on the Santa Barbara Brew Co. Crew.
Playoff Game 1: Santa Barbara Brew Co. were scared and did not show up. We're actually lucky they didn't
because we decided to do batting practice and our fielding was atrocious. But this did mark the first time the G-Men have ever made it to the
Championship Game!
Championship: G-Men 3 Los Tucanes 14- Making it to the Championship should be a happy
moment but getting blown out in it sorta makes you not want to write how your team got walloped. Since it's been so long since the loss and
I haven't had the desire to write about the mugging, I forget exactly what happened. Let's just say it wasn't pretty and leave it at that.

Back by popular demand (or at least Mickey's) I present you with Mickey's Home Run Hit-O-Meter.
This will track the amount of Home Runs that our Manager Mickey Neal hits throughout the entire season. This is the current stat after 8 Games:
Note: September 30, 2003: Mickey hit his first G-Men Softball career home run. He pulled his hamstring from the sprint around the bases but he said it was worth it. May we all be so lucky as to pull a hammy.
Note: October 30, 2003: Mickey needs to pull another hammy.
Note: November 19, 2003: Mickey is taking it easy on me by not hitting any more homeruns so that I don't have to alter the Hit-O-Meter picture. Thanks Mickey!
Note: November 25, 2003: Mickey lets Jeff Mintz and Ryan Wenger bask in the glory of homerun hitting.
