Game Log

Game 1: Injury Prone 6   Ruffnecks 32- Our first game was against a Division I team. We scored on our first drive of the game to take the lead but eventually the Ruffnecks took over the game.

Game 2: Injury Prone 26  Valley Reservists 24- This game went back and forth with many lead changes. We went into the last 2 minutes of the game behind 24 to 20 but had a 60 yard drive capped off by a tip toe catch in the corner of the end zone by Art. Two Hail-Mary chances by the Reservists fell short.

Game 3: Injury Prone 0  2 Sick 28- Many missed opportunities in this game. We had 4 red zone chances that came up short each time, but we played pretty well despite playing the number #1 ranked team.

Game 4: Injury Prone 18  Mooseknuckles 12- We came out firing and scored 18 unanswered points. We took advantage of the Mooseknuckles' unorganization. Eventually they made a game of it with a couple of scores of their own, but we were able to make a crucial first down on the last drive of the game to seal it.

Game 5: Injury Prone 6  Not Impressed 41- Not Impressed definitely had the best athletes we have played so far. Their quarterback was a little weak though. Luckily for him a 10 or 15 yard pass would end up going for much more with the receivers' run after the catch. Their defense had great catch-up speed. Rich Romo came up with a great diving catch on our second drive that kept our drive going and eventually led to a TD by Jeff Hall.

Game 6: Injury Prone 16  Hit N Run 46- Maybe it was because of the fact that we had a two week layoff, but we started out very flat in this game, and it's too bad because we weren't as bad as the score showed. We finally were able to exploit their bump and run coverage with a double-move route by Rich Romo and scored on a 50 yeard pass play. Later in the game Justin made a diving catch after running a stop and go route to set up an easy touchdown. Armando and Grant came up with interceptions in this game as well. It's too bad it took so long for us to get back in the game. Coming up the next week is a rematch with the Valley Reservists.

Games 7-10: It was a blur

Interleague tournament- We played in Santa Fe Springs for the interleague tournament. Luckily our friend Gabriel could play and having a real quarterback made a huge difference. Teams that we would have lost to during the season were fresh meat as we went undefeated the first day and made the #1 ranking for the single elimination bracket for day 2. We won all of our games the 1st day by double digits and it felt good to be on the other side of the blowout...Unfortunately in the second round of the single elimination we ran into some poor officiating and the other team took advantage of a few extra downs at the goalline in the final seconds of the game to take the lead. That same team eventually lost in the title game so we know we could've made it far in this tournament. It does give us confidence entering next season though.
