One Nation, Under God
Let every soul be subject unto
the higher powers. For there is
no power but of God: the powers
that be are ordained of God.
Whoever therefore resists the power,
resists the ordinance of God: and
they that resist shall receive to
themselves damnation. Rom. 13:1,2
This country was founded by Godly men, based on Godly principles. That is a matter of record. Our nation's greatest leaders have always depended on God's guidance to decide the course of this country. They recognized that God had truly blessed this great nation, because in it's humble beginnings, our leaders sought divine guidance. That is what has made our country so strong; what united us despite our diversity.
Our leaders also realized that each person has to be free to worship in his or her own way; that the government had no business telling people how or when or where they had to worship. Our ancestors founded this country to escape religious persecution; they weren't about to enforce such on anyone else in this new land.
Yet, at the same time they recognized that the laws God had established way back in the time of Moses were the best possible foundation for a free, peaceful, democratic society. Every law in this country had it's beginnings in the original Ten Commandments. You can't improve on perfection.
But somehow, over the years, we've turned away from God. We've found ways to circumvent His laws to suit our own ungodly desires. We've taken God out of our laws; removed prayer from public schools, taken the Ten Commandments out of our laws and our courts, banned Nativity scenes in public places, and much, more more, because one or two ungodly persons objected.
These self-proclaimed atheists claim that the "separation of church and state" clause in our Constitution means that we cannot even mention God's holy name. It offends them, because they claim it infringes on their right NOT to worship God. What complete and utter malarkey!!! And we've all bought into their baloney! We've let these ungodly persons, and the ultra-liberal, equally ungodly American Civil Liberties Union, take away OUR freedoms, namely the freedom to openly worship God and proclaim His name throughout this great land!
Right now, we have a foolish judge, who has said, on the basis of one single complaint by an admitted atheist, that the Pledge Of Allegiance is unconstitutional. He bases this utterly idiotic decision on the grounds that it violates "separation of church and state", because it merely mentions God's name. One nation, under God.
The mere mention of His name doesn't mean they have to worship Him, or even worship at all. The inclusion of His name in the pledge of allegiance doesn't constitute co-ercion by the state to force a mandated religion on everyone in the country. It isn't forcing anyone to worship anything. It is an acknowledgement that this country was founded by men seeking God's guidance and protection; that we as a nation have prospered due to His blessings upon us.
Nobody has to believe that if they choose not to. That is their right, given to them by the very Constitution they have distorted to suit their own purposes. But it is still the way the biggest majority of people in this country believe, and no one has the right to take that away from us, either. These separationists do not speak for this majority of the American people, they just have a loud and well-organized lobby. It's time that the rest of us start speaking up.
The majority of us do believe in the Almighty God who has blessed this great nation for so many years. We want to keep His name in our Pledge Of Alegiance. We want to keep the Ten Commandments in our classrooms--- maybe there wouldn't be so many children shooting each other if they saw "THOU SHALT NOT KILL" every day when they went to school. Our money says "In God We Trust", and we want to keep it that way. We want to have nativity scenes at Christmas, to remind us that Jesus is the real reason for the season.
No, sir, you do not have to believe the same things I do, or worship the same God. But you have no right to take these things away from me. Freedom works both ways; I am guaranteed the same freedoms that you are, and I have the right to freely worship my God whenever, wherever, and however I choose. God Bless America!
