FRUITFUL I WILL MAKE YOU
And with these stones he (Elijah) rebuilt the altar of the Lord. Let he that has an ear hear what the Spirit says. For you will arise and build. And your work shall be established in the place where I place you to do this work. It shall be fruitful! And your joy no man shall take from you!
A CAREFUL WORK
Carefully came each phase of Elijah's work. The trench was made with care. It was a specific size. The wood was placed in order. The sacrifice cut in pieces and laid on the wood. Then came the water, and barrels and barrels of it were poured over the burnt sacrifice and the wood. Once, twice, three times---as the water ran around the altar and filled the trench--precautions were taken that God alone would have all the glory. That man would not say: "Look what I did!"
And at the time of the evening sacrifice Elijah came near and he prayed a prayer, calling on the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel. Elijah stood on the covenant made. He had a relationship with God--proclaiming "I am Thy servant!" I have done ALL these things according to Thy Word! For ELijah prepared himself before the Lord. And he knew the voice of his God!
Elijah longed to see the heart of the people turned and he knew only the Word of the Lord--only moving in reverencial obedience to the voice of the Lord could effect such a miracle. For you can pull down the altars, close the doors of the false worship houses, but the altars of the heart remain when that's all that is known. When delusion blocks consciousness.
Then came the answer from heaven, suddenly and the fire of God fell, consumming the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, dust and ALL the water in the trench. And the people saw it and fell on their faces crying: "The Lord He is God! The Lord He is God!"
And Elijah's obedience to the word of the Lord saw a rending in the spiritual realm. A shaking of a kingdom and a mountain that had exalted itself became a plain as it were!
