"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."
(I Timothy 2.8)
The name of the Tenth Letter, Yod comes from the Hebrew word for a hand: (Yad). The correlation between the two is extremely well established in the Alphabetic Verses where Yad (Hand) appears four times in the verses corresponding to Yod.
The Tenth Letter, Yod, is symbolic of both action and personal possession. The Apostle Paul wrote under the anointing of the Holy Spirit that "the law is a schoolmaster to guide us to Christ." (Galatians 3.24). The Ten Commandements merge with the message of I Timothy 2:8, with regard to Lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting," in a powerful way.
PUTTING OFF THE DEFILING WORKS OF DARKNESS
The God of Glory cares about the fruit of our lips and the work of our hands, that these glorify Him. That in loving Him with all of our heart, mind and strength, as the first and greatest of the 10 Commandments states we should, we will render to Him honour, by living to serve and to glorify Him. Children are not to be provoked to wrath, and the constant provoking of them contrary to the express command of the Lord will produce angry s. (Eph 6:4) But now ye also put off these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not to one another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." (Col. 3:8)
At conversion, when the believer is baptized into Yeshua/Jesus name, it is reckoned that He has put off the man of sin--that former person he was who lived in sin, prior to conversion. He has put on Mashiach/Christ, and is clothed with the imputed righteousness of Mashiach/Christ. "Know ye not that as many of us as were baptized into Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ were baptized into His ? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into : that like as Mashiach/Christ was raised up from the by the glory of God the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his , we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." (Romans 6:3)
Wrath on the other hand is not part of the new nature of Christ. It is of the old sinful nature, when the individual walked in the vanity of his or her own mind. It is part of a family of evil characteristics, which the believer must put off, as a change of clothes, that he may receive the garment of righteousness. The garment of praise. To do this there must be a spiritual awakening. "Awake, awake, put on strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcized and the unclean. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. For thus says the Lord: Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money." (Isaiah 52:1-3) Isaiah 52, teaches us that "God's name is continually blasphemed" when His people behave in a way that is unworthy of those who are called by His name. (Is. 52:5) He wants His people to "know His name." To know that "it is I that doth speak --It is I, saith the Lord!" (Is. 52:6) How is it that there can be believers--people of the Lord -- even those who have been believers for a long time, don't even know the name of the God that they serve? Or that they would find themselves unable to discern the voice of the Lord? It's because the knowledge of God -- including the knowledge of His name, comes by such a profound revelation that ones entire lifestyle is changed, and he takes on the very life and character of Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ. Your life literally becomes the Revelation of Yeshua/Christ to the world.
ENTERING INTO THE UNCLOUDY DAY
Yeshua said: Abraham saw my day and he was glad! (John 8:56) How did Abraham see His day? He saw it in a figure. It was in that willing obedience of offering his son Isaac, that God accounted this to him as righteousness, and did not require this of him. But Abraham saw the sacrifice God provided--a ram caught in a thicket. (Genesis 22:7-13) We are to be children of the day and not of the night. Wrath and doubting cloud man's judgment. They impede his ability to spiritually discern the things that be of God. They rob God of the glory and honour He so richly deserves. "A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him thou must do it again." (Prov. 19:19) The wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God. (James 1:20) "Let all bitterness and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice." (Eph. 4:31)
God states in His word that when we pray to Him we must "ask in faith, nothing wavering: For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord. A double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways. (James 1:6-7) There are not a lot of things which are impossible. But in the scriptures we read this:
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
The life of faith will result in major rewards from the Most High God. As a new covenant kingdom of priests, our major reward, like the Levites of the Old Testament is the Lord Himself. (Joshua 18:7) He is our portion forever! God Himself considers our position in His kingdom, and the priviledge of ministering unto Him a spiritual inheritance. A life of wrath and doubting also will reap reward. The individual will not receive those things from the Lord which he or she has desired to obtain. Such as a "hearing ear," which is one of the earmarks of the man or woman that walks in close fellowship with God. There are other adversities that will be reaped, for the end result is that the Lord will sever that branch from the Vine.
"If a man abides not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me and my words abide in you you shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:6)
God is a rewarder. He witholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11) Uprightness comes provisionally through the atoning sacrifice of Yeshua/Jesus, and is imputed to us. But by abiding in the Lord who is the vine, and obeying His word, our uprightness shines before men, and they observe us as those who shine as lights in the kingdom of the Heavenly Father.
It is upright to seek the Lord and to desire to be lead of His Spirit. As many as are lead of the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. (Romans 8:14) How does God want us to seek His face? "Diligently! And to love Him with fervency." The Lord of the Universe --The King of Glory, doesn't want to be merely added to ones list of priorities, being placed somewhere near the bottom of the list. The Lord wants first place in our lives. We are commanded by the sure mercies of God to "present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we might prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Rom. 12:1)
MY EAR HATH GOD OPENED
Service to God is "our reasonable service," and is to be carried out not grudgingly, but as Yeshua/Christ, who humbled Himself and took the form of a servant, said:
"Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared for me: In burnt offerings and sacrifice for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I: Lo I come, in the volume of the book it is written of Me, to do thy will O God. (Hebrews 10:7) This passage in Hebrews 10, signifies the fact that God robed Himself in the flesh of Messiah--The Light of the World and came to earth becoming the sin offering as the Lamb of Pesach. To accomplish this, Messiah had to be fully man and fully God. A sacrifice without blemish, who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth. (1 Pet. 2:22)The context of this passage alludes to one found in Psalm 40:6 and it differs somewhat. The passage in psalms however, focuses upon having an ear that is open and inclined to the Father, to do His will. It alludes to the Hebrew custom of the bond servant, sometimes called the "love-slave." When the master decided to set him free, he could choose to remain. His ear was bored through or pierced to the doorpost of the house, leaving a visible scar which remained.
Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened; burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required. Then said I: Lo, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of Me, I delight to do thy will O My God, yea thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo I have not refrained my lips, O Lord Thou knowest. I have not hid Thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared declared thy faithfulness and Thy salvation: I have not concealed Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth from the great congregation. Withold not Thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth continually preserve me." (Psalm 40:6-11)Isaiah spoke of the hearing ear in this way:
"The Lord hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God hath opened mine ear and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. I gave my back to the smitters and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair." (Is. 50:5)DECLARING THE NAME OF THE LORD VS NOT KNOWING THE NAME OF THE LORD
We declare God's name--and proclaim His truth by lifting up our voice to speak His unchanging word, as well as through our actions. In this way, it is shown that God is among us, and that we are the people of God. We Knowing God is being known of God. This knowledge of God is a two way street in the heart of the those whose ways are the pathes to Zion.
The word of God speaks of Spirit controlled temperment. Of the need to be governed by God's word, possessing "self control," and "fruit of the Spirit." (Galatians 5) The chapter begins: Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of .
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you [1] that ye should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. 12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT VS WORKS OF THE FLESH
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
The Fruit of the Spirit and the Works of the Flesh 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the of the flesh. 17 For the flesh eth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; ery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, s, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections [2] and s.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
On the honorable discharge from military service of a family member of ours, is written: Conduct: Excellent. By joining the military and submitting himself to the rules, and fighting for freedom, those in authority got to know him. He was given an excellent reference. But more than that, he gave this advice to me: The Lord God said to the children of Israel in the wilderness: Be ye holy as I am holy." That's good advise for all time. The Apostle Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost, proclaiming the way of salvation: Repent, be baptized in the name of Yeshua/Jesus (mikveh-mayim) for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:46-48, Acts 19:5) The context of the apostles preaching salvation to the Gentiles, bears out that the evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues, supernaturally. They knew the Gentiles received this FOR they heard them speak with tongues! (Acts 10:46-48) Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God that works in you both to will and do of His good pleasure. (Phil. 2:12-13)
