" Behold, I will send you Eliyahu Ha-Navi (Elijah the Prophet) before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."(Mal 4:5) Thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. (Gen. 22:17)
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.Genesis 12:1-3
As for me, behold, my covenant [is] with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.God prophesied to the Patriarch Abram, who was of advanced age at that time, and childless that his descendants would be as "the sands of the sea."Genesis 17:4-8
In blessing I will bless you. In multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of their enemies." (Gen. 22:17)
"And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude." (Gen. 32:12)
SANDS OF THE SEA DESCENDANTS VS THE REMNANT
"Except the LORD of hosts had left to us a remnant, we should have been as Sodom; we should have been like Gomorrah." (Isaiah 1:9)
The Lord God, following Isaac's birth, and the testing of Abraham on Mount Moriah, said to Abraham: In Isaac shall your seed (singular, nor seeds many) be called. God speaks of "thy seed" using a singular noun. The promises were to Abraham and his seed. "He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (Galatians 3:16) The promise pointed not only to and through Isaac to Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 11:18) This was marvellously fulfilled a Israel received the prophetic promises of Joel the Prophet, found in Joel 2:23-32, and Acts 1-2:47.
Israel was founded as a kingdom in possession of the revelation of God's holy name, and living presence. Jacob wrestled with God in the form of the angel of the Lord at Penial, saying: I will not let you go except you bless me. The angel said: "Your name shall be no more Jacob, but Israel, for as a prince you have had power with God and with men and have prevailed." Israel said: "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." (Gen. 32:28-32) The nation of Israel received God's holy covenant, and the revelation they possessed set them apart from all the nations on earth: Hear O Israel the Lord your God is one Lord." Israel has been, however a kingdom forever embattled. At times throughout history, idolatry infiltrated, and Israel lost the revelation that had sanctified them, and called them to be called "The people of God."
God has prophesied that in the last days that He will send "Elijah the Prophet!" (Malachi 4:5-6) In Romans 9:27, we read that Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved. "For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance." Psalms 94:14
Israel was not always a divided nation. Historically, in the Old Testament it was divided to be conquerored, by it's enemies.
Imperialism is defined as:Acquisition by a government of other governments or territories, or of economic or cultural power over other nations or territories, often by force. Colonialism is a form of imperialism.
One of the fundanmentals of "imperialism" is the principle that what cannot be consumed whole in it's entirity is better swallowed if it can be divided into bite sized pieces. When the kingdom of Israel split into the the northern and southern kingdoms, the 10 northern tribes fell into idolatry, and Judah fought a continual battle against encroachment. Under Ahab and Jezebel's rule, Israel was embattled by a Jezebelian form of imperialism. She utilized colonization, by importing 850 prophets of Baal from her native Phoenicia, to rapidly make adherents of Baal worship of the children of Israel. She also killed the prophets of God in an effort to root out and destroy the Hebrew faith. God allowed Israel to be divided, so that He could save a holy remnant, for His name.
The children of Israel were troubled with the division, for the house of David and the promises concerning this, saying: What portion have we in David? Neither have we any inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents O Israel: Now see to your own house David. So Israel departed to their tents. (I Kings 12:16) But God said through the Prophet unto Rehoboam: "You shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Return every man to his own house: for this thing is from me." (I Kings 12:24)
ELIJAH & THE HOLY SEED
"But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof." (Is. 6:13)
...So that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no one else. (1 Kings 8:60)
A word study on the name of Elijah, discloses that Elijah's name, is a compound name, made up of two words or names. The first word is "El" meaning God. The second part Hebrew word making up the name Elijah is the name "Yah." Yah or Jah, as we are more used to seeing it, is a contraction (a shortened form) from of Yahweh and has the meaning: "The Existing One." Yahweh, is similar to our verb, "to be," and means: to be; become; come to pass; exist; happen. Also, interestingly enough, this word, forms the "I AM" of Exodus 3. So, now we see the name of Elijah speaks of "I AM," "The Existing One" or Yahweh.
This manifestation of the Elijah of God will come like a mighty wind and fire. (Acts 2:1-42) It will manifest in a holy company of individuals walking in the Spirit of the Living God. It will be in the fulness of the undivided body of haMashiach/Christ, for haMashiach/Christ is not divided. But what it will not be is regimented exclusive denominationalism. The fact that God pours forth of His Spirit upon all flesh, does not place His seal of approval on all that the particular denomination of a man or a woman believes. The denomination itself may have leaders who, eat simultanously at both the table of the Lord and Jezebel's table of demons, so errantly hold the position that the gifts of the Spirit have ceased, or that "tongues" is of the devil. God's word commands His people not to eat at the Table of the Lord and the table of devils. God pours out His Spirit in an impartial way, where ever He can find a hungry heart that will believe His word, and receive all that God has for them by revelation. "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:10) This was how Yeshua/Jesus called the 12 disciples, whose eternal and unchanging testimony even now says to us all: "Come and see." God always calls a first-fruits in every harvest. Be fruitful in every good work, and you will be see the anointing never wane with the passing years. Coming down from the mountain after seeing the magnificent transfiguration, Yeshua/Jesus gave the instructions to "Tell the vision to no man, till after the Son of Man had arisen from the dead!" (Matt. 17:9) His disciples asked him saying:
The gospel was "to the Jew first." How did New Testament Hebrew people understand the Godhead? As "one God." The New Testament apostles major focus was on preaching the manifest God in haMashiach/Christ. Emperor Constantine's Council at Nicea in 325 A.D. was a strategic warfare against the revelation of the revelation of the fulness of the Godhead in Christ. The apostles laid the foundation of Yeshuahamashiach/Jesus Christ, and they did not hold any view but that of one God in haMashiach/Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.
"But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him." (1 Cor. 8:6)
Messiah Himself taught his followers, reiterating or confirming His own belief in Sheam!
"Why then say the scribes that Elijah truly shall come and restore all things? And Yeshua/Jesus replied: Elijah truly shall first come and restore all things. But I say to you, That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done to him whatever they listed (wanted) Likewise shall also the Son of Man suffer of them" (Matt. 17:11-12)
Among those born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist, notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the Law prophesied till John. And if you will receive it, this is Elias (Elijah) which was for to come. He that has ears to hear, let him hear." (Matt. 11:11-15)
PROTECTION FROM BEGUILING INFLUENCES THROUGH haMASHIACH/CHRIST
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtility, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2 Cor. 11:3)
In Christ-likeness and the simplicity of Christ, we will walk not only in "the likeness" of Elijah the Prophet, but in the likeness of Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ, for this will be so crucially necessary in our task of turning this generation to the power of God's word, and staying the promised curse, that cannot otherwise be averted! God even now sends those forth in the "spirit and power of Elijah" to turn the hearts of nations to the Revelation of haMashiach/Jesus Christ, and through faith in Him, to the abundant life filled with all the blessings of God!" People are tired of living under the curse. Their mouthes and ears have been filled with curses. The curses stem from the fear of separation. The separation which exists between God and man is because of sin, and the reconciling of man to God through the salvation of Messiah is the only answer. Through this alone comes wholeness, for body soul and spirit.
There's a cry going forth across the face of the whole earth in these last days. It's this: The Lord our God is one! In the Old Testament God sanctified and set apart a people for His holy name. The nation of Israel was separated from the idolatrous, polygamous nations about them, with this awesome revelation of the nature of God: "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord, and Him only shalt thou serve." In the New Testament, Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ confirms this truth in connection with the first and greatest commandment, when he was asked which was the greatest of all God's commands.
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him:
"The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (Deut 6:4) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Deut 6:5 Deut 10:12, Matt 22:37, Luke 10:27)
And the second is like, namely this:
"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (Lev 19:18, Matt 5:43, Matt 19:19, Matt 22:39, Luke 10:27, Rom 13:9, Gal 5:14, James 2:8)And the scribe said unto him: Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. (1 Sam 15:22)
And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. (Mark 12:29-34)
WHAT ELIJAH IS UP AGAINST
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. KJV "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
The Elijah's of our day are up against a system which has married extra-biblical religious bias to legislated immorality, and political views. Few can testify to ever having seen an actual demonstration of God's power. Their presence has so permeated the church, that part of the Elijah Task of the end times will be to challenge the divided heart of so many "who halt between two opinions" in the church. (I Kgs 18:21) The Elijah Task of our day is for God's holy remnant to lift up God's holy name! "And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one." (Zec 14:9,Zech. 4:7) To reprove the world of sin, and of righteous and of judgment through the anointing that abides within us. In the Old Testament, God called the Prophet Elijah to take up the cry of the Spirit, and He put His uncompromising word in his mouth to preach to his generation. Elijah was a sign and a wonder. His name was a prophetic omen. It means "Yahweh is Elohim!" He receive his prophetic commission when King Ahab, the ruler over northern Israel, was married to Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal, king of Sidon.
ETHBAAL-KING OF SIDONS DAUGHTER
Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong [is] the Lord God who judgeth her. Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. (Rec. 18:8-10)
Jezebel was the Princess of Sidon before assuming her role as wife of Ahab as Israel's queen. Learning from her father King Eth-Baal, who gained his throne by slaying his predecessor, she was a force to be reckoned with. God's anointing alone would displace her positionally. Before becoming king, Eth-Baal, was high-priest of his city, so acted also a judge in when tumults arose, by adding his religious influence to his kingly authority. His reign was lengthy and he built numerous cities, and quelled the advance of the Assyrians. He entered into alliance with the Kingdom of Israel, and his daughter Jezebel married the Israelite king and brought her father's Phoenician religion, "Baal worship," into Palestine.
King Eth-ball allowed nothing to stand in the way of business. When God brought the prolonged drought, spoken of in scripture, which afflicted Israel in Jezebel's day, and was felt in Phoenicia also, he fought it in his own way, performing a great religious ceremonial to escape the drought, leading his people in procession about Tyre and offering up the terrible Phoenician sacrifice of living children, to avert the wrath of the gods. The attitude is in the world today, with pro-abortion members of social services and the medical profession. That tell their vast host of women clients: "What? Allow a pregnancy to keep you from your job of making our city the commercial center that we want it to be? We can fix that for you!"
THE CITIES OF TYRE & SIDON
Sidon the city of Phoenicia was located along the coast in modern Lebanon. The Hebrew name, tsidon, means "fishing" or "fishery," denoting Sidons important fishing industry in ancient times. Sidon was known for two principle industries. The mountains of Lebanon, just inland from the coast, produced the "cedars of Lebanon" as well as cypress trees. Traders from throughout the Mediterranean world sailed to Sidon to obtain cedar timbers for construction. The Sidonians had also learned to harvest purple dye from the murex shells found in the sea. This dye was used to color textiles. (The name "Phoenicia" was derived from the Greek word meaning "purple dye.") Home of the sea-faring Phoenicians, Sidon, along with Tyre, twenty-five miles to the south, guarded the eastern Mediterranean coast. It served as an important seaport, not only for Phoenicia, but also for Israel and Syria. The descendants of Sidon were noted for their knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, and their success in trade and industry, as well as their knowledge of the sea.
Tyre, was a major city of the Phoenicians, a Semitic people who settled along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean in the region of today's country of Syria. Tyre an island city, was queen of the seas, and of unprecedented splendor. Wealthy from her far-reaching colonies and her industries of purple-dyed textiles, she also attracted the attention of jealous conquerors. Founded at the start of the third millennium B.C., Tyre originally consisted of a mainland settlement and a modest island city that lay a short distance off shore. It attained it's "golden age" in the first millennium B.C.
AHAB'S PHOENICIAN PRINCESS
The Hebrew name of Jezebel means "Without co-habitation." This may seem incongruous, because Jezebel is referred to as Jezebel the Harlot. But the phrase "without co-habitation" speaks of the fact that the Lord God was not her dwelling place. Nor was she His. She lacked an accurate knowledge of the Holy One. Her habitation was the habitation of devils. She was a woman of vision with a strong personality which included a certain flair for the dramatic! Her marriage to Ahab was a political union or alliance sealing a treaty between Israel and Tyre. Jezebel is used by God as a symbolic name personifying the rebellious, deceptive, idolatrous religious and political world system.
The Phoenician princess Jezebel who married the Israeli king, did not come to her kingdom empty handed. She possessed innumerable skills of administration. She knew how to garner support for her initiatives. Knowing that she would need assistance, she imported hundreds of prophets of Baal from Phoenicia to Israel, to begin her own version of church planting, because she believed that Israel had been given to her to disciple to the worship of Baal!(1 Kgs 18:18-20)
To all outward appearances, Queen Jezebel seemed to have everything going for her. Her husband ruled the 10 northern tribes. In 1 Kings 18:19 we told that "450 prophets of Baal ate at her table. She kept them "close," because she enjoyed the occultic spiritual fellowship! She influenced Ahab to adopt the lewd and virulent form of Baal worship practiced in Israel at that time.
Her primary objective however was not to simply to bring in the worship of Baal, but to mix the worship of Baal with Israel's worship of the true God, Jehovah. This would in her opinion be much more difficult to ever undo. For people would feel that their religion was right. They would not view it as pagan religion. Jezebel's boundless hatred of the prophets of God, drove the majority of Israel's prophets undercover, as she cursed the very ground they walked on.
If people tell you that this country or that is the Great Harlot, remind them that "The whore sits on many waters!" These waters are defined in scripture as "peoples, kindreds, tongues, and nations." (Revelation 17:15-18:24) Jezebel likes keeping her leaders "close to her" at all costs. She brings them to her table, using false ecumenicism as the tool to accomplish this, saying: Love everybody! Don't offend! Don't bring what will cause division!" Messiah speaks of an influencial church leader under this symbolic name. (Rev. 2:18-29) She seduced New Testament leaders of the church at Thyatira to commit fornication, and to partake of idolatry, using them to mentor others in sinful practices. (Rev.2:20-22) For this reason, God not only addresses a rebuke to church leaders, but states His intent to:
...Kill her children with death; and all the churches will know that I Am he that searches the reins and hearts; and I will give to everyone according to your deeds."
You will be judged by the fruit of your life--by your actions, so you won't be able to excuse the judgment away with: That wasn't my heart." Therefore now is the day of salvation. Some out from among them, and touch not the unclean thing. Allow God to be a Father to you...
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" (2 Corinthians 6:14-15 KJV)
The term Belial, is derived from a Hebrew word formed from a combination of two other Hebrew words, pronounced bel-ee, meaning failure, and yaw-al, meaning to be valuable, was a term of scorn meaning to waste one's worth. The word is used in the Old Testament to describe people who were rebellious and lawless. In the New Testament, it's used only once, for Satan. Lawless, rebellious people were referred to as "sons of Belial" or "daughters of Belial." The examples of "children of Belial" provided in the Holy Scriptures involve idol worshippers, drunkards and homosexuals. One example is seen in Deuteronomy:
"Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known" (Deuteronomy 13:13 KJV)
GOD'S ANTEDOTE FOR WITCHCRAFT
"Behold, I cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of her works." - (Rev 2:22)
Witchcraft is rampant in the world today! It's a work of the flesh, comprised of manifestations such as hatred, varience and strife. (Galatians 5:20) Jezebel opposed the change God was bringing in! But as God's righteous servant, Elijah was as bold as a lion! He was given lion-like courage to confront the idolatrous polytheistic beliefs of his day! On Mount Carmel God stood him at a convocation of 850 worshipping prophets of Baal. Why? Because Elijah was a man immersed or baptized in God's-will and not a self- willed man. God dictated where he went. The Prophet didn't pick and choose! God did not send the entire body of true believers living at that time, on Elijah's assignment. Why? It wasn't the place for them to go. It can be a dangerous thing to presumptuously go where it is not God's will for you to be. People may talk faith, foolishness or presumption. But God's will for Elijah stand on Mount Carmel was to proclaim in demonstration andpower: "The Lord He is God!" Elijah knew God's voice and His will. God had a purpose for Elijah's presence there. Elijah didn't sensationalize the demonism. His focus was on the revelation of who God is. Jezebel's persecution of the prophets couldn't change that! Elijah's defeated fale religion publicly for all to see...The demons believe and tremble the bible says...
...Saying, Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Yeshua/Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. (Mark 1:24)Elijah possessed the revelation of God to disclose to others! God directed him where and when to disclose this truth, and backed him up by many confirming miracles, which testified and verified the accuracy of His faith. He didn't do this for vain-glory!
Jezebel perpetuates all forms of spiritual abuse in that she suppresses the manifestation of true religion, which enables you to know God intimately, face to face, and for Him to know you, and sets forth an idolatrous image! Mystery Babylon will always perpetuate that which divides. Her house is the way of hell going down to the chambers of death. (Prov.7:27) Seeing [it is] one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. (Rom. 3:30)
Jezebel wanted no prophecies exposing what was going on with her life and kingdom. In many churches today, you'll never hear an exhortive prophecy. Or a propecy which warns of things to come, like Agabus prophetic word! The prophetic has never been allowed to develope beyond the sort that say: "My children I am well pleased..." The 7 Churches of Asia didn't receive this type of prophecy without serious qualifications, to balance out the prophetic view. Had the Lord done otherwise, He would have lead the churches to believe He placed His seal of approval on all that was going on, including Jezebel's activities in Thyatira. If the prophetic ministry is developed, they prophets themselves may be subtly or blatently persecuted, either with jokes from the pulpit, or slander behind their backs.
The church leader under the influence of a spirit of Jezebel appeals to much to the pride of man's intellectual achievments to judge what is right and wrong, substituting that which is sensual, or of the five senses for that which is spiritual, or of the spiritual realm.
How many "Christian" children have been raised in homes having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof? Or converts told that "Gifts of the Spirit have ceased? If you raise a child in a church devoid of the power of God, that child may never experience the power of God spoken of in I Cor. 14:25 ... "He is convinced of all he is judged of all. And thus are the secrets of the heart made manifest, so falling on his face he will acknowledge that God is in you of a truth!"
We need churches filled with the revelation of God and His power, so the individual living in sin, will never walk out of the church emboldened to sin again! How subtly one can begin to place the focus upon the wrong things, and cease to give God the glory. God will use His prophetic Spirit to expose what's false! He can make sinners uncomfortable, even in the church where some would dare to hide! Sinners shall not stand in the congregation of the righteous! Today, because of compromise, there's a mixture! You take your kids to some churches and there are more sinners discipling them into hell than there are ministers of righteousness to lead them to heaven, through anointed preaching and their godly Christ-like example!
Churches hold seminars on the control or Jezebel type spirit, which frequently seem aimed at the prophetic--As if intended for the eager beaver prophets wanting to share their revelations, or prophecies, and especially the prophetesses, who they wish would "keep silent in the church!"
Some of you feel that if you go to your pastor or church to explain that the quenching of the prophetic there, is having a detrimental effect, that you will be judged as a "trouble maker." It feels like death. Or if you go for counsel with your family problems, that you'll be judged maliciously, and thought to be "unspiritual." You may even think of "yourself" as unspiritual, because nobody knows what you are going through! In Revelation 2:22, we read the following endictment: "Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols."
Churches that suppress God's word to support their own stilted unscriptural doctrines, or stiffle the moving of God's Holy Spirit to further their own ends are in effect, working under a Jezebel spirit or religious control spirit influence.
THE HIDING OF GOD'S POWER (HABAKKUK. 3)
"And His brightness was as the light; he had horns (rays of light) coming out of His hand: and there was a hiding of His power." (Habakkuk 3:4)
Your ministry in many ways has been like that those hidden prophets, whom Obadiah helped, in the story of Elijah! You could not openly share the truth you've discovered in God's word, because your own pastor's education has been steeped in the traditions of man which haMashiach/Christ said "Make the truth of God of no effect." Your influence or ministry is not non-existent, but you have longed to see God's kingdom extended. God didn't condemn those hidden prophets of Elijah's day! He didn't condemn Elijah! But neither did he leave them to live out their lives in secret. He sent His angel, to Elijah at his brook by the way! He sustained him in that place God wanted him to be.
You have been like a Scout Master, or Den Father...You've been the Den Mother for a long time, sometimes camping out in the den or family room, where you can share Christian fellowship together around God's word! You have learned from mistakes made and those younger children are different than the older ones! You have had God warn you about the ungodly influence of older rebellious teens in the home. Of that unsaved father, or mother. They have cleverly camoflaged their purpose at times, but you know there's a danger there.
You are wiser now concerning unsaved grandparents. You understand things to a greater degree. You keep them closer, like Elijah kept Elisha by his side, and are mentoring them in the prophetic things. There's been an individual that God places frequently on my heart, who spends much of her time hiding in the laundry room, from sexual abuse. She is not a person that I know personally, but someone God knows is there. For several days in the past month, as I have interceded in prayer, there has been an infant in such crisis and the baby on my heart so continually, that I asked God if there was something I could do besides pray. This lead my family on a train trip to another city, where we came into contact with a woman, that I feel was the child's mother. God is raising up pastors, evangelists, prophets and ministers in every walk of life. They are fleeing in desperation from their own persecutions. God wants to save, heal and deliver.
The unbridled use of state agencies to regulate the family life of Americans, has intimidated many couples concerning clearcut biblical mandates and the appropriate discipline of children, while at the same time making you legally responsible for that child till he or she is 18. You've had to stand in your Christian liberty, responsible to God and His word, and preserve the young ones like the midwives of Moses day obeyed in godly conscience. Or suffer the consequence of living under the tyrrany of rebellious teenagers, many of whom become deeply involved in occultism, and crime.
What God does is manifest, though it is not all evident at once. Because of your intercession, life in the word, and bold confrontation of evil, many of you have become pillars in the church. By the word of the Lord, that that same mantle you've been wearing at home--that authority you've administrated in, and used to keep that home from going under, is what you need to use at church!
THE SEPARATION OF THE BROOK CHERITH
The Brook Cherith represents a place of refreshing, following times of trial. Elijah's foremost separation was heart separation. This lead God however, to hide him for a season at Cherith. You have at times, walked or lived in a "hidden place" but you're not alone! Yeshua/Jesus in the days of His flesh said: "I am not alone for the Father stands with me." You've been at times in a discouraged place like the Prophet Elijah. Some have even wished that you could die. Or dreaded the day the police would knock on the door and tell you that your parent, child or teenager is dead. Or worried over a sibling that's followed the pernicious ways of a violent teen, or unsaved father, and their malignant counsel. You grow weary at times. You feel alone. But God is the strength of your life and the health of your countenance. Wait upon the Lord and renew your strength! God has his purpose for that wilderness experience. In the wilderness Elijah's concept of the natureof God was deepened. He interceded in prayer on behalf of those like himself, in desperate need. His life was strengthened to bear the hardships of what he would later accomplish.
Brook Cherith was a place God provided for Elijah to stay for awhile. It was necessary that the Prophet Elijah learn of Gods providence. The ravens did not bring him a stockpile of food. It was crucial that he learn to live by supernatural provision from God. To exist out of a life of faith in the unseen, trusting the Lord of the Universe for one day at a time. The prophets of Baal who had eaten at Jezebel's table outwardly possessed everything they needed. She had the resources to pay their way. But they were not to be envied. They lacked what Elijah had in abundance. For Elijah ate at the Table of the Lord. He was fed by God's own hand, that which the Lord deemed suitable for the servant of the Most High God, and his needs were adequately met.
If your home has been bitterly opposed by the powers of darkness--If your family has individuals in it, who have cursed you or tried to break up your marriage and home because of the power of God's Holy Spirit operating in and through your life, break the "spirit of curse" in your lives, and over your home, automobile, finances, etc. Bless yourself in the name of the Lord.
The intimacy in your marriage has been under an strenuous assault by the powers of darkness, till you feel like you hardly know one another anymore. That devil fears your oneness! As you take the time to receive from the Lord why these opposing forces are there, and why they are targeting different areas, you will gain insight into the power of God you have actually been walking in, my brother or my sister!
THE PRINCIPLE OF SEPARATION
"Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. (Jeremiah 30:16)Younger children living in the home frequently suffer in numerous ways, as these wicked spirits seek to oppose all that "is called God." Or to war against your covenant relationship with Messiah, Yeshua haMashiach/the Lord Jesus Christ. The nations teenagers have reported to their parents that the authorities have authorized them to say anything, to use any foul language they wish including the most vile language to parents faces, or around younger children -- that they wish. They will tell you that you'll have to live with it because you have a legal responsibility till your child turns 18. Christian parents or care-givers have shared the testimonies of how God has lead them to do some amazing things through His wisdom, in order to preserve order, or protect themselves against violence, without breaking the law themselves.
Seek God's wisdom, and as the Lord leads you, get your rebellious husband or teenager to church where they can receive godly counsel and prayer. If they won't go to church, be the church to them. Have church where you are! The Lord may lead you to take the family on an extended trip across country where you can get them under some anointed praise and worship, or doctrine through sermons on cassette tape. If possible, attend church services on the way. As pressures build, it can become a pressure cooker. Be so in prayer, praying in tongues, that God can give you specific direction. He may lead you to live with a friend for a time. Or to stay in a hotel. Be careful about giving your "adversary" information. How often God's people fail to think of unsaved people as the enemy camp. Where relatives are concerned, love blinds the eyes. This can be very dangerous. In war, and this is a spiritual battle, you cannot afford to live in a position of neutrality. It can kill you!
Remove what control the ungodly teen has usurped. Your legal responsibilities concerning your children, include meeting the basic basic needs. As the Lord leads, parents have withdrawn luxuries or extra priviledges, such as not filling cupboards with favorite junk foods, just supplying the basics of the 5 food groups, like bread, eggs, fruit, vegetables, whole grain cereals such as oatmeal. They've called the phone company and disconnected long distance service, using a phone card for long distance calls. Television, or VCRs need not be standard equipment. Video record or cassette record violent episodes, or notify police to retrieve whats unsafe or illegally brought into your home or business. Don't touch evidence that may have a suspects fingerprints on it with your own hands.
Don't "react" to your situation in an angry moment. But "act" or "take action" through prayer as you seek the Lord's guidance, allowing God to supply you with wise ways to utilize the principle of separation, so you can spiritually on the offensive in power. House or car keys keys can be taken away and you can demand the teen return home after your husband is home, or around 9 pm so they can eat dinner, shower and go to bed. Get them up early and out of the house to school or job hunting. If forced to clean a teen's room because of the unwashed laundry on the floor, or rotting food, warn that anything on the floor, dresser top etc will go, and then make a clean sweep with that garbage bag of yours.
Abraham separated Ishmael and Isaac. God in His providence allowed the separation of Israel and Judah, because of sin. Demand the teen get an after school job that takes up his or her time. God can also warn you prior to the teen coming home, if you need to hide your money or valuables. Tough Love groups advise not allowing that rebellious teen to remain in control, even if it means "taking the bedroom door off it's hinges and storing it so your teen can't hide drug related activities or feel he or she has autonomy at your home.
One family from a Tough Love" group, meeting at a local high-school, told an older teen, that they'd decided to move out of state. He was welcome to come along. He chose to move in with friends. As you pray, trust God to work it out as He knows is best.
JEZEBELIAN IMPERIALISM STANDING WHERE IT OUGHT NOT
"For this is he, of whom it is written (Malachi 3:1 "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.")
Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist... And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come." (Matthew 11:10-11, 14)
Jezebel personifies the world political and religious system that promises you liberty while themselves remaining morally in bondage to sin. She is personified in that government not of, by and FOR the people, because leaders are not and have never been "UNDER GOD." They are unrepentant for their own sins, but put on guise of morality or respectability to tell you how to raise your own kids. They believe their license or right to sin has been sanctioned or legislated into majority rule, thus making sin legal, but this is contrary to God's word. Nevertheless the world system will view a case--your case, through the education that they paid for, so it is valuable to them, and they rely on it, since they lack a personal relationship with God through haMashiach/Christ.
Under an "O Baal hear us" mentality, they work as public servants in a system which they see as "the saviour of the world." They dance to a different tune. They will monitor anything which they find offensive to them or that they do not understand, including your religion. If your faith is a threat to them, they may purposely set out to disrupt all family relationships, for the purpose of severing ties and placing your children for adoption with un-Christian parents. This and other possible scenarios can get your children thoroughly messed up if they can gain access to them. Non biblical concepts can be placed in a child's mind during counsel, or subtle accusations concerning your lives or church. One motivation is commercial. They wish to merchandize your families recovery with a "false anointing" to "Fix it for you." It'll be expensive because theey are highly skilled," from their viewpoint. $125-$150 per counseling hour is nothing! Counseling can go on for years. From a biblical point of view, counsel begins with repentance. If you have a teen that is living in sin and unrepentant, your money goes into a bottomless pit.
And be fore-warned! Anything negative that becomes part of you or your child's behaviour and stems from their socialistic advice will be a reflection on you. It will be blamed on the parents. Personal accountability for ones own actions isn't in the text books used when they got their degree. They will be quick to tell you: We feel this is a reflection of YOU or your parents -- parenting skills!
Don't expect the Mystery Babylon who prides herself in her educational prowess or achievments, not to view herself as the world parent of exceptional value, and to see you as totally backward or inept. When her counsel backfires and she realizes she's made mistakes she will state that she has done what she could to help, stating the damage was already done. She will claim what she perceives as successes, even if this means breaking an attachment between members of your own family, and liberating the children from your "religion."
If you have opened doors by allowing your children to be brain-washed by worldly concepts coming through various means, do what you can to close these gaps in the hedge, as quickly as possible!
But in the last days it shall come to pass, [that] the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make [them] afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken [it]. For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever. In that day, saith the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.Micah 4:1-7
ELIJAH VS JEZEBEL IN THE HOME
The people of God need to be discerning spirits coming into the home and not relying on what is outwardly seen? The fleshly mind should not be allowed to dominate the human spirit, which is joined as one to the Spirit of the Lord. Because God inputs your spirit with extraordinary information. Keep those children under your jurisdiction at all times, and teach them God's word. Your children will grow to respect you as parents in a normal biblical way. The answer is to separate them from the spirit of the world. To get them all under your supervision by day and by night. This is how it was in the bible!
In biblical times people worshipped together, worked together. And for centuries in other countries, such as bible lands, it has been the normal thing for families to sleep in a one room tent. In the New Testament, Messiah tells the following story in His teaching:
"Then the one inside answers, "Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.'" (Luke 11:7)In many nations of the world, families work, eat and sleep in close promimity to one another. A number of years ago, somebody wrote a book entitled "The Family Bed." Much of the dysfunction of individuals in society today is a cry for love. They have been the product of the affluent American way. Houses get bigger. People become busier. Sometimes they eat in their own corner rather than sharing the family meal together. Divorces occur. Families become broken.
Elijah-type families discipling their children to prophetic ministry have at times come under major confrontations with control spirits through relatives or family members.
WAR IN THE HEAVENLIES
The prophets of God during Ahab and Jezebel's regime, remained hidden, living together in small bands of 50 in the caves of the earth. Ahab's dynasty was not an unsuccessful one politically or military speaking. He had his successes. But spiritually speaking, behind the scenes in the unseen realm, there was a violent clash was in the heavenlies, as 2 warring kingdoms warred in opposition to one another. Those kingdoms were the power of God against the powers of the dark realm of Satan, who sought to cast a veil of darkness over the hearts and minds of the nation's people.
Like Elijah the Prophet, you live at a critical time in history. God and His angels rejoiced to see your birth! Or as they say: God danced the day you were born! The answer is for the kingdom of God to be manifest on earth in a supernatural way. The prophecy of scripture predicted that one of the earmarks of the last days would be that ordinary people would see visions, and dream dreams and prophesy. (Joel 2:23, Acts 2:18) God called the Prophet Jeremiah, saying "Before you were formed in the womb, I knew you, God had full knowledge of you and your entire life beforehand. He knew the day of your birth, from the foundation of the world. (Romans 8:29-30) Through the Lord's fore-knowledge, you were loved in Christ before the earth's foundations were laid. (John 17:24) He knows the precise day of your death, and every action in between. Through Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ, He has given believers authority in three realms. a) Authority over things in the earth. b) Authority over things in heaven. c) Authority over things under the earth. In this article we will discuss authority over the realm of death, or the Keys of Hell and of Death.
DISCERNING THE VOICE OF THE LORD
To know the Lord and to hear or discern the voice of God is a marvellous thing. Through the voice of His word, the Lord guides us in the daily affairs of life and caused the scriptures to become living bread to us. As we study to show ourselves approved unto God as workmen that need not be be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, we learn to make choices which are based upon the power and wisdom of His word. This new manna comes as we study God's written word, to become workmen that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. It also comes as He communes with us daily. In these times of regular fellowship with Yeshua/Jesus He gives us new manna, fresh revelation, or reminds us of previous knowledge of His word, and strengthens us to endure to the end that we might receive all that God has promised us. This was the will of God when He sent forth His laborers into the harvest field to "To open your eyes, to turn you from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God" (Acts 26:18)
This inheritance we have been given in Mashiach/Christ causes our individual lives and households to prosper, both spiritually, physically, empotionally and financially. The thoughts God thinks toward you are good, to give you a hope and a future. He states in His word that He wants us to prosper even as our souls prosper and are in health.
The Apostle John saw a vision of the glorified Messiah and it's awesome to read about. "When I saw Him I fell at His feet as though dead. Then He placed His right hand on me and said: Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am Hozon! The Living One. I was dead and behold I am alive forevermore. I hold the keys of hell and of death." (Rev. 1:17-18) This is significant to comprehend. Majorly, the significence of this is that Messiah's death accomplished salvation for every man.
As believers, we want to see the world come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. He defeated principalities and powers, making a show of them openly. Salvation is a finished work. This does not mean that that there are no battles for us to fight. We pray in our English or the native language of our birth, or as the Lord leads. Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit given through the baptism in the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2) we intercede by praying in our heavenly prayer language called speaking in other tongues.
THE WORD OF THE LORD CAN PREDICT THE DAY OF ONES DEATH
It was revealed to Elijah by the Spirit of the Lord when the time was approaching that he would be carried into heaven. God very clearly and distinctly told him to anoint Elisha as successor in his place. For years, he'd been a senior prophet and teacher, mentoring not only Elisha, but whole schools of the prophets at Bethel and Jericho. This witness was sorely needed. Elisha knew when Elijah would go. The prophets in two locations also knew when Elijah would depart to be with the Lord.
We know a young men who was warned prophetically of an auto accident weeks before it occurred. Somebody he cared for was killed. This actually proved to be a comfort the individual, following the accident, to know God cared. He also said: When the car was spinning out of control, he knew he would live through it, because he was alive in the vision. Don't be afraid to share words of knowledge, prophetic dreams, visions...
Because of the rival or counterfeit religion established by Jereboam, Israel would have otherwise been in danger of the hearing the word of the Lord becoming a rare thing as in the days of Samuel. Those young prophets being trained by God in the school of the prophetic were not all alike. Yet each possessed a prophetic ministry and knowledge of the Lord, so that the Lord God had revealed to these prophetic ministries rising under the anointing of the Lord, and Elijah's tutorage, the exact day that Elijah would depart and be with the Lord. They knew but were cautioned not to do a lot of idle chatter about it. For I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand.
In John 21:18, Yeshua/Jesus predicted Peter's death, saying: "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. (KJV)
God discloses "sacred secrets" to those who know Him. These may come as disclosures of divine revelation concerning Himself, or His relationship with you. It can be a "word of knowledge," or a "word of wisdom." It may take the form of a prophecy or come to you as you sleep by way of a dream. God revealed to the Apostle Paul the nearness of the apostles own death, and the areas needing to to strengthened the church in, in anticipation of this. He wrote: "I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance." (2 Tim. 4:6)
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. (Acts 20:29-36)
THE WORD OF THE LORD PREVENTS AN UNTIMELY DEATH
"God has given him a name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" (Philippians 2:9-11).
We know a person who received a prophetic word from the Lord concerning an elderly parent. The Lord awoke this individual from sleep and disclosed that some ungodly members of the medical profession were taking steps that would rapidly lead to this persons death.
The effect of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place. Blessed [are] ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth [thither] the feet of the ox and the ass. (Isaiah 32:17-20)Concerning God's will in this matter, it was "righteouness" to act on the prophetic word God gave. The Lord was on a rescue mission. The purposes of the Lord were that He wanted this elderly person to remain on earth for an extended period of time, to complete something He had for them to do. The result brought years of peace to this family. When the grandparent died, the peace was that they had done that wich God asked, concerning this family member, and God had prolonged thisones life, by adding years which the family enjoyed. God is our Rock and our protection. Whom shall we fear?
"As the mountains [are] round about Jerusalem, so the Lord [is] round about his people from henceforth even for ever." (Psalms 125:2)Don't ever excuse away the importance of a ministry based on age as a criterion. This is not where God places the value. So often people will say: Well, you know it's probably just their time to go to be with the Lord. But this can just be presumptuous talk.
In this case, God commanded the believer to take action to prevent this in such and such a way, and to protect the elderly believer. The Lord assured them that this action would bring the nessessity for them to make future sacrifices, but God's glory would be revealed. They never regretted their bold confrontation in this situation, in obedience to the Lord.
But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called [thee] by thy name; thou [art] mine. When thou passest through the waters, I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I [am] the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt [for] thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not: for I [am] with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; [Even] every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, [It is] truth. Isaiah 43:1-9PASSING THE TORCH-RECEIVING THE MANTLE OF MINISTRY
As the Lord revealed to Elisha, and to the sons of the propets that Elijah wouldn't be there forever, this affected Elisha eapecially in a major way. There were things the Spirit of God had yet to accomplish, through old Elijah while he was yet here on earth. Elisha didn't want that "mantle of ministry" to be taken from the earth. God's power was so sorely needed in Israel!
Elisha requested of Elijah that a double portion of what Elijah possessed in the way of anointing, be given to him." Some think it strange that a person today would claim revelation that they have been given the mantle of ministry of another. How could this be? Isn't your own ministry sufficient? There are many people with spiritual gifts. The important thing is that we use what God has given and not allow it to lie dormant. Elisha was faithful to do exactly that!
Yeshua/Jesus said: You have not because you ask not! Every moment of every day that the prophet was here, was a valuable moment, to Israel, the sons of the prophets, as well as the witness Elijah was to the opposing kingdom and spiritual forces.
Yeshua/Jesus speaking said: "The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they (you) might have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10) The thief, who is Satan is prevented from bringing you forth to an untimely death, when you know God's voice and obey His word. Elijah's enemies sought to take his life on numerous occasions, but they could not take the life of the man of God. When it was time for him to go, the Lord caught him up into heaven in a chariot of fire.
The devil led him (Yeshua/Jesus) up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me. All this I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me. Jesus said to him, "Away from me Satan! For it is written, "Worship the Lord your God and serve him only." Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended to him. (Matt 4 & Luke 4)
The world is rapidly changing. Countries, and states have regulated laws concerning life and death. There are physicians that cooperate with euthanasia if the individual or his family give their consent. But "greater is He than is in you than he that is in the world," (1 John 4:4) the bible says! "Submit yourselves then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7-8) The angels of God are at your disposal. Yeshua/Jesus said: I could have called ten legions of angels. He didn't because He knew it was His Heavenly Father's will, that He be the atoning sacrifice for all mankind. But the realm He moved in, that heavenly authority, is yours. Know the Lord well enough that you can seek His face. God can reveal to you that your time to go is not yet. Or He can show you by the Spirit when it is time for you to go, and give you can abundant entrance into heaven. Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You have need of patience, that after you have done the will of God you will receive what he has promised." (Hebrews 10:35) Develope friendships with deeply spiritual people who know God's voice. Yeshua/Jesus said: "Again I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them." (Matthew 18:19) "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)
One person was shown by God as a young person three areas of their own personal health to watch and pray over, so as to preserve their life and lengthen their days and ministry on earth. Some people think it would be frightening to be shown by the Lord your demise years in advance. Many will never experience this. But if you do, it's intended to liberate you from fear and to cause a release of faith, so that you can fully pursue the call of God on your life.
LIVE YOUR LIFE IN DEMONSTRATION OF THE SPIRIT & POWER
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. (2 Cor. 2:4) "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." (Colossians 2:15)
Elijah's name means "Yahweh is Elohim." The prophet was given a name at birth which was a testimony of the awesome nature and power of God. His name had significance to this nation that in many ways had already lost the revelation of who God is, and substituted an image of their own making, with which they attempted to oppose the revelation of God in Jerusalem, by virtue of their vast majority. The Hebrew meaning of the name Elijah, is the equivelent of testifying that Yeshua/Jesus is Lord! Elijah didn't preach with the enticing words of man's wisdom. His very life was a demonstration of the Spirit and of power. The power of God manifest in Elijah's life was in direct relation to the fact that he was a man of prayer. He obeyed the word of the Lord as God brought it forth to Him, as an obedient servant of the Most High God. He was fearless in the face of idolatry and defeated the hundreds of priests of Baal, through the mantle or anointing of the Lord that rested on his life.
What type of demonstration of the Spirit and of power did Elijah pass on, as he mentored the young prophets?
- 1) Elijah mentored the prophets of his generation by example. His was a holy character. (1 Kings 17:20-24,1 Kings 18:36-37, 19:14, Luke 1:17, Rom. 11:2, James 5:17)
- 2) Elijah the Prophet discipled other's in the importance of the power of prayer, as the very basis for true prophetic ministry. His obedient relationship toward God was foundational in his life. He was a man that feared the Lord with godly reverence. God commanded him to perform miracles as he spent time in prayer. The very heavens obeyed him. He prayed and the heavens were shut up. He prayed again and they were opened and gave rain. (1 Kings 18:41-45)
- 3) He sent the timid Obadiah to Ahab. Obadiah was another who knew that God transported Elijah to places. His fear was that if he stuck his neck out, and then Elijah disappeared, he'd be the one that King Ahab would make the target for his vengeance. But Obadiah was a compromiser. He needed to be sifted and freed from this tendency to straddle the fence. He must learn the value of committment to what counts. Elijah helped him in this way. (1 Kings 18:1-16)
- 4) Elijah prophesied against the ungodly governmental administration of his nation. (1 Kgs 21:17-29, 2 Kings 9:25-37)
- 5) Because of Elijah's life of prayer, the presence of the Lord in His life had a unique impact on people, both rich and poor. It caused a poor widow who at first was fearful because her food shortage was so low, and she thought she would die, to receive an impartation of faith and to be willing to give her last morsel of food to the prophet. (1 Kings 17:7-15) She was rewarded for her faith in God.
- 6) He prophesied in writing to Jehoram. (2 Chron. 21:12-15)
- 7) Elijah was strong not only in spirit but in body. He out-ran the chariots of Ahab. (1 Kings 18:46)
- 8) He restored a widows son from death to life. (1 Kings 17:17-24)
- 9) The Prophet Elijah called down fire from heaven on Ahaziah's soldiers. (2 Kgs 1:10-12)
- 10) Elijah demonstrated the faith and patience to wait upon the Lord to hear His voice. As he stood on Mount Horeb there was a mighty wind. He continued to stand amid an earthquake that shook the ground under his feet and rent the rocks. Anyone who has ever experienced an earthquake or natural disaster of this sort, knows the temptation to run for safety, but God was Elijah's only covering. The voice of God was not in the wind, nor in the earthquake. But when it came, Elijah heard the word of the Lord speaking to him in a "voice of quiet stillmess." And he wrapped his head in his mantle and went forth from his cave.
- 11) Although Elijah the Tishbite, was a mountain man, hailing from a mountainous region in Naphtali, he did not suffered from any spirit of inferority, or considered himself less among the prophets. They could call him a "country hick" if they wanted, but His boast was in the fact that he knew God and believed God, and obeyed His will. (1 Kings 17:1)
- b>12) When Elijah fled for safety, discouraged by Jezebel's relentless persecution of the prophets, God demonstrated his tender concern for Elijah who prayed to God, wishing he could die, in sending an angel to strengthen him. The angel did not condemn him. But said: The journey is too much for you. He prepared the food, fed Elijah and Elijah went for 40 days on the strength of that food supernaturally supplied. (1 Kings 19:1-8)
- 13) By the word of the Lord God commanded Elijah that Israel was to experience drought as a judgment of God. The Prophet demonstrated authority over the elements in witholding rain for 3 1/2 years. When the drought accomplished the purposes of God, the Prophet commanded the heavens to give rain by the word of the Lord. (1 Kings 18:1, James 5:17)
- 14) Elijah fearlessly confronted the crime bosses of his city, boldly dealing with the crafty distortion, dishonesty and sinful extortion perpetrated by Ahab in relation to a piece of coveted real estate belonging to Naboth, and judgment concerning Naboth's murder. God demonstrated through Elijah that things of this nature are of great concern to Almighty God, and that He has the power to judge in such matters. This set the stage for the nation as new prophets emerged following Elijah's departure, that robbery and violence would not be tolorated.
- 15) Elijah was translated into heaven in a living condition so that he would not see death, setting an Old Testament precedent for the end time translation of the church.
- 16) The Prophet Elijah fasted 40 days. (1 Kings 19:1-8) He was moved by faith, and not by sight, relying heavily upon God when no earthly provision was available or evident, and God supplied his bread supernaturally, when ravens brought him food. (1 Kings 17:6)
- 17) Bodies of water posed no barrier to Elijah, who smote the Jordan with his mantle and went over dryshod. (2 Kings 2:8)
- 18) He was still traveling or being translated around by the word and will of the Lord hundreds of years later, as we see him appear before haMashiach/Christ, Peter, James and John with the Patriarch Moses on the Mount of Transfiguration. (Matt. 17:1-13, Mark 9:2-13)
GREATER OR LESSER IMPARTATIONS OF REVELATION
Elijah possessed knowledge concerning his departure. The Lord revealed this to Elisha as well. While the sons of the prophets were made aware of the day of the Prophet Elijah's departure, they didn't have full revelation concerning this. The young prophets seem to believe that God could set the Prophet Elijah down on a mountain top or in a particular valley. But they do not appear to believe that Elijah was actually transported into heaven.
15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
This lesser degree of revelation possessed by the sons of the prophets may have been due in part to the young prophets tendency to discuss spiritual matters when they should have remained silent. Theres a time to speak and a time to remain silent. 3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
WHAT DID THE DOUBLE PORTION DO?
The century preceeding the ministry of Elisha was marked by open conflict between Baalism, introduced by Ahab and Jezebel, and the worship of the true and living God promoted by Elijah the Prophet. After the death of Ahab and Jezebel, Jehu killed the members of the cult. Elisha's 50 year prophetic ministry demonstrated God's concern for individuals and the nation. The double portion received by Elisha as Elijah's mantle fell to him, did some remarkable things. For one thing, it was an impartation of faith to change cities. It not only changed geographical areas spiritually, but physically. In the following story, the city of Jericho was pleasant, but the condition of the water wasn't. The ground was barren, and unfruitful, which effected the economic condition of the city. The anointing or mantle resting on Elisha's life quickly became known, and the men of the city of Jericho did not hesitate to contact the man of God to correct the physical condition of their city. This demonstration of the Spirit and of power gave Elisha a position of influence, to reach people for God.
19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
The Lord anointed the Prophet with a remedy that was guaranteed to confound the natural mind. He called for a cruse with salt in it. He walked to the spring and threw in the salt. And the waters were made sweet, and remained this way. (1 Kgs 2:21) Ditches were filled with water to deceive the enemy and win a military battle. (3:15-26) Food was multiplied for the poor. (4:1-7) The dead were raised. (4:32-37) Gehazi was cursed with leprousy, for attempting to extort money for Elisha's prophetic ministry. (5:19-27) A borrowed ax-head is made to float. (6:1-6) An Aramean army is blinded. (6:8-23) Through Elisha's prayer, his servant is shown an angelic army. (6:15-17)
The chapters on Elisha report 14 miracles, or twice as many as are attributed to Elijah. Elisha provided the leader of his nation with intelligence reports on the movement of the Syrian troops. ( 2 Kings 6) On one occasion led a blinded enemy force into Samaria, where they were captured. (2 Kings 6) Naaman, general of the fierce Syrian army received a demonstration of God's power when healed him of leprousy, through the ministry of Elisha. (2 Kings 5:8)
23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
GIFTS FOR THE REBELLIOUS
"Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men: yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them." (Ps 68:18)
The Lord is a God of mercy and compassion. This is demonstrated in the fact that God does not sanction the rebellion of one or of a group preventing the salvation of those God has called to the kingdom through the gospel message and to receive the knowledge of God's word and the Holy Ghost life. "The gifts for the rebellious" given through the cross of haMashiach/Christ are to bring people to Him, and to protect the Lord's church. We see this clearly taught in the case of Elymas the Sorceror who tried to prevent a convert of the Apostle Paul from being saved in Acts 8. You need to move in that mantle of anointing the Lord has given you. You will see the salvation of cities.
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one. To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and [in] the bond of iniquity. Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me. And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans .
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word [which] he commanded to a thousand generations. Which [covenant] he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, [and] to Israel [for] an everlasting covenant: Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance: When they were [but] a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it. When they went from one nation to another, from [one] kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; [Saying], Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.Psalms 105:8-15
In Elisha's day, there were roving bands of rebellious youthes, much like we see in many inner cities today. These kids may be homeless, or from homes where there was a broken marriage. All they've known is disrespect and violence. In Elijah's case, he did not feel over-whelmed with compassion for this band of youthes. Elisha whirled around and gave these rebels "a word from the Lord," that brought swift judgment.
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.God backed up His prophet's authority in His own way. Perhaps we miss at times the ways in which God deals with those who persecute and mistreat us. It does not escape his watchful attention. The scriptures tell us God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. This often involves the aspect of "tough love." In our day, a youth has to be turned over to the police for theft. Or some other type of correction. The message here is that this type of situation needs to be addressed. This is real Christian love, that in time will often blossom into fruitfulness in an individual's life. Homelessness, or the fact that poverty has reduced or eliminated law enforcement in these regions is not an excuse to condone criminal behaviour. We all endure chastening as the Lord's own.God used Elisha in a powerful way. His influence for God was critical in the nation. He was worthy of the respect of his fellow man. God does not want his ministers to endure unnecesary grief. There's suffering which we all endure for the sake of the gospel, but God's anointing which builds up His kingdom, is also divinely powerful to pull down kingdoms, to root them out and to destroy that He might build and plant on a proper foundation. That proper foundation is haMashiach/Christ alone. When the Messiah ascended on high, he gave gifts for the rebellious. These help us to deal effectively with those who are rebellious.
PASSING ON WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN TO YOU
And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee.
God has placed eternity in our hearts. There is not a person on earth whose life will have no impact. Ones life is a life of influence, either for good or for bad. God has called the believer to use his or her Christian influence to change the world for haMashiach/Christ. There are people who have waited all their lives for the revelation that you've got. When they meet you, it'll be like that little cloud the size of a man's hand that got Elijah so excited that he out-ran the chariots of Ahab! If you do not pass on that mantle, and those things God has imparted to you, this will be a great loss to your generation, and future generations. Recognizing by discernment the value of the revelation which God has entrusted to you, is of prime importance, if you are to complete the work the Lord has given you to do. The Prophet Elisha's heart to cleave to Elijah, and not to be parted from him, was because dwelling in Elijah's presence was to dwell in the presence of God. It is as you obey the Lord's first and greatest commandment, and Love the Lord thy God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength, that the second commandment to love your neighbor as yourself will come easy, for the Saviour loves with an everlasting love.
As you focus upon the Lord, and commune with Him face to face, the quality of your communication with others will experience a metamorphosis. Do not hold back even the smallest thing that God has placed in your heart to give. But never speak when the Lord has commanded you not to. There are times when God is in the process of creating a place for those very words, but it is not yet. Yeshua/Jesus said: "I have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now." The ground must be prepared, and that which is fallow, plowed up. This is why we must be people of prayer.
If in seeking God's face, He doesn't seem to reveal anything by way of a vision or prophecy to you, continue to read His word, praise Him, fellowship with believers, and be a witness for Him. Guard your heart to keep it free of defiling influences. In this way, that which you transmit to those whom God has given you to mentor will have clarity and power.
God will have a kingdom that shall not be removed! Your mantle will fall to them, and to their childrens children until the end of time and this will occur before your death, and after it if you will believe. Your prayers and godly influence will cause them to re-evaluate the truth of God's word, and to appropriate it as their very own. This will be your portion forever. Even in the life of the Saviour, there were those like the rich young ruler, who did not appropriate all that He said to him. The Lord said: Woe to them that are full. But the Lord was adept at recognizing the teachable moment, by the Spirit of the Lord. Many times the anointing confounds he natural mind, but we learn to trust God's timing, and to move as that cloud of glory moves us forward, and to let the chips fall where they may. Sometimes it's in another season that it comes back to us like bread upon the waters. But prayer can excellerate those seasons, even as we pray: Let me see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living...Let me see my sky filled with stars like Abraham and my children and my childrens children as the sands of the sea now!
