This trial mod is pretty cool. Although one might argue that you get way too much ammo. You definitely have more than you’ll ever need. Although there are far more zombies than in the regular demo. There’ still only that one licker though.
The hack features a few beta scenes, including Marvin’s. Here's a video of the scene.
I think it’s much better than what we got in the retail version. Bob’s suicide scene in Outbreak has a similar feel even though it really deals with suicide. Not that they haven’t touched upon that before in the first RE and REmake. But this is where you really get to see it for yourself. The horrifying true face of the t virus. Far worse than that creepy hanging man. Thanks a lot Umbrella.
I’m not sure why the zombies in here are all female when they should be cops. They have male zombie groans too. It’s like that on my version as well. Although I have seen videos of the same hack with the cops instead. Maybe it’s part of the fix that made the scene work correctly?
Here’s a pic of the bolt plug. Or one part of it. I noticed in the other demos that the plug seemed to have an additional piece. I’m not sure if they can actually be combined though. I don’t know how far they got with that before switching to the chess plugs. Here the bolt plug comes out of the statue that opens up after placing the red jewels into the reliefs. In the retail version you get the king plug. Hail to the king!
Interesting place:
Nice cabinet and lamp. The boundaries for the lamp are a little off. In the retail version there’s a door here leading to the set of stairs that goes up to the crow hallway. But neither door is present in the trial.
The clock tower!
The door only works from the outside. You get in here via the door to the top right of the stairs in the library. Only it doesn’t dump you out into the third floor hall. You end up directly in the clock tower. There’s no way to reach the third floor hall. It’s just not there. Either it wasn’t finished or programmed yet or they hadn’t linked the two areas together at this point.
Once you enter the clock tower you cannot leave! The door doesn’t work from the inside and the physics in this room are all messed up.
Welcome to the quantum clock tower Leon. Enjoy your stay. Forever. BWAHAHAHA! *evil grin*
Leon: ;_;
As you can see the room isn’t finished yet. The cogs aren’t colored or textured yet and some of them are missing. The area in front of this where you would normally use the crank has a pretty much finished floor and walls. But there are no tools or extra cogs laying around. There’s also no hole for the crank. The stairs are unfinished as is the space under them.
I initially thought that you couldn’t use the stairs. But you can. The boundaries are just weird and you have to climb them sort of from the side at a weird angle. Which lands you up here:
The upper part is difficult to navigate because boundaries. But once you’ve figured them you you’ll end up here:
Beam us sideways Scotchy!
You cannot change the laws of physics captain!
Leon: I’m standing sideways on the wall and I’m afraid to get down! ;_;
Poor Leon.
But wait! There’s more! o.o
Here’s the helicopter wreck after you put out the fire:
The plastic bomb isn’t necessary because the broken door isn’t there anyway. Notice how the broken doorway and cracked wall is yet to be finished.
Leon: Can I stop standing under this doorway now? It doesn’t seem structurally sound…
Fine. You’ve got other, more interesting places to go anyway. >>
It’s time for a meeting with chief…
Kendo?
Yup. Kendo and a dead female zombie are placeholders for Irons and the mayor’s daughter.
Although the boundaries haven’t been completely set yet, all the doors are functional And Leon really should mind his manners. Standing on the chief’s table. Shame on you!
Leon: Sorry… Can I get down now?
Sure. Why not. Let’s go visit Kendo and his lovely female companion. Sprawled out dead. On his desk…
Kendo’s legs look funny. Like he really has to pee or something. Is that a gun in his hand? I think it is. Also, these characters are both sorta blurry and look as if they are part of the scenery. They don’t stand out from the background like Leon and the zombies do. It’s a very odd effect.
Notice the wall behind Kendo is blank and devoid of the picture and the panel behind it where you set the tablets. The secret door is just an open doorway and you can walk right through it. I didn’t take a shot of the hall leading to the elevator. But it looks nearly finished and the elevator is functional. If you get in it takes you to…
