I Can See Clearly Now

Using the Gens VDP layer plugin I was able to get a clear look at both the Forest of Carnivorous Trees and Gumbius Temple without the blizzard.

The top of the Garuberk Tower is not present because it’s on the same layer as the blizzard. So it just looks like an old tree stump with a little too much uprooting.

The twisted branches of the carnivorous trees are well detailed. The black branches in the back give them some illusion of depth. But you'll never be able to fully appreciate this as the blizzard obscures the full glory of the twisty, pointy, man eating flora.

Interestingly, now that there's a clearer view of the temple without the blizzard, I can see how the actual temple doesn’t really match the map sprite all that much. The other overworld graphics tend to be a mini version of what you can expect once you enter. But the little ice pond and small shrine with a path leading to from the main temple aren’t present once you enter the temple. Although there’s a wing on the first floor where that small shrine might be. It just looks different from the outside. So I wonder if it ever looked any different on the inside.
