If you know me, you'll notice almost everytime I part company with you, I say "adios"... now, why do I do that? Do I just really like Spanish? Nope. Well, do I just want to be different and not say "Bye"? Nah, not that either. Let's look at the word "adios"... It's obviously Spanish, we all know that. But what a lot of people don't know is that directly translated, it means "to God". So now your question for me is: "Well, Ross, if you don't really believe in God, then why tell people to go to him?" And this is why: generally in faith, God is many things. God is good, God is kind, and most of all, God is love. So yes, while I don't believe in an all powerful deity, I do believe in goodness and kindness and love. And it's not exactly how it sounds. When I say "adios", I'm not saying "Go in peace, and serve others and love others"... I'm basically telling my friends that I love them, and that they should love themselves too. There is good within the hearts of everyone... past all the superficiality, past all the sadness, past all the anger. And "adios" is just kinda my way to say "I hope all that stuff goes away someday and you get to the good stuff." Yeah, maybe it's silly, and maybe I'm making too much out of a word. But now you know why I say it. (Not that you ever wondered before.) And after saying all that.... Adios. |
