Song of the Week: The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go

June 8, 2003 - party mcfly (what a bad title)
Ah yes, another bright Sunday morning. My plans for today are very exciting: Go to a graduation party, go to another graduation party, and then, you guessed it, one more graduation party. It seems as though there's at least one every day of every weekend this summer! It's nice though; it's a good way to keep in touch with people before college. Although I won't be having a party for myself, Steve-O's party on June 27 should be thrilling enough to make up for that. Since Steve doesn't see many people throughout the week, I am responsible for providing his party with a decent supply of his friends and acquaintances. Therefore, I will be posting mini-ads (such as this one) every once in a while on my site to invite people to his rockin' party. If you want to know more just ask.

On a side note, I have decided that when I have kids, at their graduation parties (if they want them, of course), I'm going to hang up a giant banner saying, "Congraduations!" [Good thing I won't be one of those embarassing fathers, eh?]

This Pac-Man looking thing is a shot from the May 31 eclipse seen in the UK. Not only did the moon cross the sun's path, so did an observer's hot air balloon.

Movie Dialogue of the Day - Mr. Deeds

Longfellow Deeds: What are you in for?
Crazy Eyes: I bit the mailman. He was doing some sort of wizard magic on me.
Longfellow Deeds: You sure about that?
Crazy Eyes: Not exactly...he might have been waving.

June 9, 2003 - ixnay on the exsay
I'm sick of hearing the media talking about sex. At one point a couple days ago, I said to myself, "I never want to have sex, ever." Something about it seems so... controlling or something. Like, sex can consume a relationship...It can tear love apart. At my current emotional/mental state, I don't really feel like I'm really ready for that yet; I don't want to be sexual. Too often these days sexuality takes a hold of a couple before a real emotional connection forms, and thus, the connection is formed as a result of the sex. People feel emotionally dependent not because of love, but because of love-making. Anyone else out there who wants a good relationship without a sexual relationship? That is, just a good old-fashioned romantic companionship type of relationship? I just think it's much more beautiful to fall asleep in someone's arms than to have sex with them. But hell, what would I know.

Movie Quote of the Day - Love & Sex

"Two people can be perfect for each other, but if the timing's wrong its never going to work out. Bad timing is the reason that most normal people end up single. Weirdos and creeps are single because they are weird and creepy; but people like us are single because of bad timing."

June 10, 2003 - ...
Not much news today... Nothing is really on my mind at the moment. Thus, nothing will be on my site.

Test of the Day - Mind Media's Brain Persuasion Test

My results:
Auditory : 61%
Visual : 38%
Left : 50%
Right : 50%

An excerpt from the Summary: Your balance gives you the enviable capacity to be verbal and literate while retaining a certain "flair" and individuality. You are logical and compliant but only to a degree. You are organized without being compulsive, goal-directed without being driven, and a "thinking" individual without being excessively so.

June 11, 2003 - chillin' in the heat of summer
Now that all the non-seniors are done with school, summer has really begun. It seems like it's going to be one of those eventless yet amazing summers... like, despite the fact that I have no big events or no specific plans to do anything in particular, I'm really looking forward to summer. It will most likely be a "chill" summer, and I doubt there'll be a summer night that I don't hang out with a friend or two. It's kinda like the end of an era; even if I stay friends with all of the people I'm friends with now, after this summer, it will never be exactly the same again. The next three months will be fantastic. (Hmm... that's a word I rarely hear anymore, except maybe from Chris once in a while).

Striker: No, I've been nervous lots of times.

June 12, 2003 - better than before
Saw Finding Nemo today... It was quite enjoyable, I'd say. I always wonder if my kids will watch movies like that and Toy Story, and think "man, what terrible graphics." The best things of yesterday are just average today, and tomorrow they will be obsolete. I guess that's the way mankind is... always advancing to something better, something more efficient, something more convenient. I guess there are a few things that are timeless and can never be replaced... like combs, or oranges, or the movie Spaceballs.

Since I lack a better IOTD for the day, I figured I might as well put up a soon-to-be IOTD source: the ever-so-spiffy Olympus Stylus 300 Digital Camera. I ordered it today as a graduation/belated Christmas gift from my parents, so hopefully I'll now be able to take shots that are more rosser-worthy than today's featured image.

Quote of the Day - L. Ron Hubbard

There is no person alive who cannot make a new beginning.

June 13, 2003 - friday the thirteenth
I got a haircut to day from the same barber I've gone to my entire life. I really like the experience of the old-fashioned barber shop. That is, just one guy cutting hair, no styling necessary, just a comb and some scissors, with a bit of razor work. I talk to my barber Jerry about stuff; he tells me stories about things that have happened in his life. Today he told me about two things he unconditionally believes in... first, he told me that everything that may seem bad can have some kind of positive outcome; that is, a purpose can be found for everything that's happened (this is something Kristin and I have talked about). The second was something I hadn't really thought about in a while: the saying "what goes around comes around". If you walk all over people now, you'll be walked all over in the future, etc... It's something I ought to think about more.

Quote of the Day - Henry David Thoreau

"Be true to your work, your word, and your friend."

June 14, 2003 - more congraduations
It seems as though I got through yesterday without any bad luck... as for today, I'll be suprised if I get through it at all! For some reason, everyone and their brother chose today to celebrate their graduations. I'll be rocketing around from party to party... (You know me, Ross "Party Boy" Salupo)... Hmm, alright, I'm ready to change subjects now. The Last Castle is an excellent movie; I watched it yesterday and I highly recommend it. Oh, also, Jason indirectly let me know about Weird Al Yankovic's new album, Poodle Hat... I bought it yesterday, and so far, it's good. Then again, maybe it's just because he was the first musician I ever was a "fan" of--It's quite possible that the first CD I owned was one of his. Anyways, enough for today... more babble tomorrow.

Movie Quote of the Day - Steel Magnolias

"I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special."
