Song of the Week: Violent Femmes - Add It Up
August 3, 2003 - fair enough
Man, I had some crazy dreams last night... Don't really remember them too well. Every once in a while, I consider keeping a log of my dreams, but I'm not sure that reading that log would be very worthwhile to me, as I probably wouldn't even understand what I was talking about. Anyways, yesterday was a pretty good day overall. I went to Sal's graduation party, where his band "Stench" played a bit. I was pretty impressed overall, and contrary to the band's name, they didn't really stink at all. I'm not sure the name fits the band, as they play covers of songs by Blink 182, Weezer, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Nirvana, and only one or two "harder" bands-- Ozzy Osborne and Godsmack. But yeah, it was fun to hear them play. Tonight's the last day of the festival, so no more fun fair times until next year... My good story from the festival yesterday: Like every year there, Saturday night was packed... and many people were under the influence. One guy came up to me and asked about my Yo! Brooklyn hat. He asked if it was a biking hat, and then what the rainbow on it was for. I told him, "Gay pride."

A somewhat fuzzy shot of "Stench" in action; Sal's in the middle doing vocals. Oh, and the band consists of two teenagers and two guys in their late 20's or early 30's.

August 4, 2003 - i'm sorry mama, i'm cleaning out my abdomen
Yeah, I know... what a terrible update title. But yeah, I am currently digesting twenty ounces of some kind of Barium juice as my appendix throbs in pain. I'll be going to the hospital as soon as the stuff coats my digestive system, and there I'll be getting a cat scan. Once the results are processed, the most likely course of action will be surgery... i.e. the removal of my appendix. Just thought I'd share that with all y'all. I mean, it's a useless organ anyway, so I might as well get it removed. But before that happens, I'm going to take my appendix bungee jumping, to the Wall of Death, and then flying over the Andes with the Brazilian soccer team... (That's what Rocko did in his Modern Life show when he got his appendix removed.) So yeah, depending if/when (more likely "when") I'll get operated on, I'm not sure what will be in store for my update tomorrow.

:::UPDATE:::
Well, I just got back from the hospital. My cat scan went fine... if you've never had one of those, it's really an experience. They pump your veins with like some kind of liquid or something so that they come up on the scan. But anyway.... It's not clearly appendicitis (yet, at least). It's only natural, though. I've always been fascinated by the unknown, and now my doctor doesn't really know what's up either. She says I could be pulling a Steve and have an inflamation of the lymph nodes. For now, I'll be getting some anti-biotics, but if the pain isn't lessened by Wednesday, I'll go to the surgeon so he can poke around in there and find out what's really wrong. But yeah, until then, I'll carry on as usual, though I'm supposed to rest tomorrow and see if the anti-biotics kick in. Unfortunately, I won't be doing any kicking myself, as my right leg is rather numb :-P

Speaking of surgery, Paul recently got the bar taken out of chest recently... and you guessed it, it's pictured there to the left. It looks pretty big, eh? Yeah, I know what you're thinking..."I've seen bigger."

This is our purpose: to make as meaningful as possible this life that has been bestowed upon us; to live in such a way that we may be proud of ourselves; to act in such a way that some part of us lives on.

::::UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:::: (Compliments of my two favorite sisters who are in Ohio)
Contrary to the above diagnosis, Ross ended up back at the hospital today (August 5th) and had his appendix removed. When we last saw him, he was talking up a storm and even commented how he was "rambling on and on". He is now resting quite comfortably (thanks to massive amounts of morphine), and was beginning to look quite stoned when we left. The doc will be back to see him in the morning, and hopefully he'll send him home. Ross wanted us to inform you that cash donations will be accepted for his recovery. Stay tuned for the exciting image of Ross' interior-- He promises he'll post it as soon as he can.

August 6, 2003 - Ross's appendix journey
This is Steve typing all this today just to let you know. I'll be updating as much as I can for these next few days, if I have any updated info. I heard from Ross today, and he was saying that he was doing quite alright. He didn't complain about anything but his IV. His sister told me that he had some blood tests ran today, and also that he is still quite out of it, and he sleeps a lot. Also, before I forget, he wanted to wish a happy birthday to Jason Weber. Happy birthday Jason! (that's from Ross and myself) Well, that's really all the info I know. I do think he'll be home tomorrow though. Until then, keep leaving those lovely guestbook entries! (It's reasons like that, that I don't have my own website...) And yes I know I have screwed up the format of this site a little, but hey, what do you expect from an amateur?!

August 7, 2003 - Ross's appendix journey day 4

Ross is still at the hospital, and said he will be there until Saturday. They are still running some tests, and he's still quite out of it. Other the that, he told me to say something to Chris... I don't remember what is was though... Oh and he also said keep the cash donations coming, and also that life size replicas of him made out of whatever are always appreciated. And just to let you guys know, I probably won't be posting anymore info about Ross, because I will be out of town.

Today kicks off the start of this year's marching band season!

Quote of the Day - Not sure who said it first, but it's a band thing.
