November 2, 2003 - maybe awkward ain't so bad
Chelsea's play last night was pretty good... I was definitely very impressed with her performance. I can't tell her enough how awesome-ly I think she did!! Anyway, so I was thinking today all about awkward moments... Awkward moments are definitely of value, and life wouldn't be the same without them. See, so-called "awkward moments" refer to times of change, times where something happens that can potentially change a path a relationship takes. They can cause a relationship to begin, one to end... hell, an awkward interaction can be the only interaction you ever have with a person. So it's really not the fact that a moment is awkward that makes it valuable... it's the fact that you are given the chance to mix things up, change them around. Life is just a bunch of awkward moments, strung together by what people make of them.

This one's for Trevor (and all the ladies out there, of course)... It 's a shot of Joe on Halloween as a very hunky Tarzan.

Quote of the Day - Endicott Peabody

"Remember! Things in life will not always run smoothly. Sometimes we will be rising toward the heights - then all will seem to reverse itself and start downward. The great fact to remember is that the trend of civilization itself is forever upward, that a line drawn through the middle of the peaks and the valleys of the centuries always has an upward trend."

November 3, 2003 - oughta be autumn
I absolutely love Autumn. It's just such a beautiful season in general. It definitely makes me think of change, maturity, bringing 'color' into one's life. I especially like the end-of-October/beginning-of-November period when the leaves go through the big transition from painting the trees in vivid colors to lacing the ground like a sheet of reds and oranges and browns. I noticed today that next to one of my buildings, it's as if grass doesn't even exist there anymore... it's just completely COVERED in leaves. I love walking over leaves feeling them crunch under my feet, picking them up an viewing their innate beauty, burying little children in piles of them so they can be picked up by the leaf truck... I just love Fall in general.

Quote of the Day - P.D. James

"It was one of those perfect English autumnal days which occur more frequently in memory than in life."

November 4, 2003 - voting day
So despite the fact that it's voting day, I didn't vote. I meant to... but I had school til 4, and then I worked til 8, and all I could think about was getting back here. I completely forgot. So yeah, I'm somewhat disappointed in myself for that... but alas, life goes on.

Oh, speaking of voting, make sure y'all vote in my new poll, added Sunday.

Just a note on the nerdiness yet college-ness of my school. Today in my math class, several guys joked around about getting so drunk that they discuss the laws of physics... they then proceeded to act out such an experience.

Alright, I'm off to finish my outline for my math paper. I decided to write on the exciting topic of Isaac Newton's methods of calculating natural logs to fifty decimal places using nothing but calculus and a piece of paper. Yay.

Heh... "You may only vote once... Unless you forgot you voted before, in which case you may vote again."

Quote of the Day - Dave Barry, on the telemarketer "Do Not Call" list

"For each call to a registered number, telemarketers face an $11,000 fine. This program is a huge hit with the public. Already 30 million American households have registered; this figure would be even higher if it included all the Florida residents who tried to register but accidentally voted for Patrick Buchanan instead."

November 5, 2003 - happy birthday leslie!!!
So I was sitting in Baker today reading Another Roadside Attraction, waiting the hour for my sociology class to start... I was sitting with my back to the large set of windows, through which the warm Sun was shining. All of a sudden, the sky became dark. It was as if the Sun put on it's over coat and decided to step out for a while... You know what I'm talking about, those times when one minute it's bright and sunny, and the next minute clouds smother the sun, hopelessly trying to put it out like mischievous teens trying to hide their presence in the woods from a parent with a flashlite.  So as I read, my pages suddenly became dark... it was as if a giant was dimming the lights, trying to set the mood for a lady giant friend of his. I half expected the vrooming sound of automobiles going down Euclid Avenue to be replaced by the smooth and seductive sound of a giant Barry White. Nonetheless, I kept on reading... I had more important things to do than choreograph love scenes for giants.

Quote of the Day - Charlie Brown

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?"
Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."

November 6, 2003 - happy birthday stephanie!!!
Sorry for the somewhat late update, I've been working on my computer science project for most of the day. But hey, at least I updated on Stephanie's birthday this year. Anyway, I don't have anything insightful to say, and I still have more work to do... but make sure you check out the link at the bottom of today's update, and hopefully I'll write something here tomorrow before I'm off to OU! Adios.

November 7, 2003 - on the road again
At the moment, I'm gathering all my stuff together to head out for the weekend. Larry, Milda, and I will be going down to OSU to eat dinner with Ashley and Katy... from there, Ashley will be accompanying the three of us over to Athens, where we'll be seeing the great and powerful Brian. Words cannot describe my current level of excitement! So I apologize if I don't update tomorrow or Sunday, but I hope your weekends are as great as I hope mine is! Adios for now!

I wonder if we'll have one of these where we're staying tonight...

November 8, 2003 - t.b.w.t.p.c.c.i.s.l.f.a.t.h.
So I'm sitting here in Brian's dorm at  the moment. I left my house at 3 yesterday, and we arrived at OU at like 10 or so. Not too bad of a drive, I suppose. Anyway, not sure what's on our dance card for today, though I think we're gonna head up to a hockey game later on, and then maybe catch the midnight movie. Oh, and just a reminder for all of you out there: Tonight is a total lunar eclipse. If you live anywhere around here, it will enter totality at 8:06 and stay there til 8:30. If you live elsewhere, check out this lunar eclipse computer. Anyway, make sure you check that out. Ah, and also, last night we saw Elf... it was definitely a good movie, entertaining for all, in my opinion. So check that out too. Alright, I'm out for the day, keep on truckin'!
