Song of the Week: Blue Man Group - Sing Along

November 30, 2003 - waiting for another break
Man, last week was a T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E update week for me. But alas, I am back, and now that Thanksgiving break is over, I'm more than ever looking forward to winter break. I had a good Thanksgiving and such. I spent it with my family, and considering I like my family, I like spending time with them. My extended family is a fun bunch... They're all short, and all a little bit weird, but it's a good weird. Anyway, as far as the rest of my weekend went, I pretty much slothed around. I went to a couple hockey games, went to a couple friends' houses, and then came back to school to write my psychology paper. It took me 5 hours to write, but I was distracted by TV and such, so it was really like a half hour or so of work. It's only worth 15 points (about 6.5% of our grade), so no big deal if I miss a few off it.

I was telling Nicole about this earlier...
This is the "Middle-earth Shuttle" in New York City.  The subway train's cars were decorated with Middle-earth creatures, vines, moss and stones to celebrate the release of the Special Extended Edition of "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" on November 18.

Quote of the Day  - Lillian Carter
"I don't think about risks much. I just do what I want to do. If you gotta go, you gotta go."

December 2, 2003 - from aardvark to zygote
Went to the mall tonight with Joe and Brian. None of us had any purpose for being there, so we stopped at the food court and walked around. For probably a good hour or so, we went around in a circle (triangle?) and each named a word that begins with whichever pair of letters we were on. i.e., first someone did aa (as in aardvark), then ab (as in abridge), then ac, and so on and so forth until zy. We of course skipped letter pairs that we could think of no words for. As boring or unexciting as it may sound, it was a good time. That's what I like about my friends, we can have a good time doing just about ANYTHING.

"Life loves to be taken by the lapel and told, 'I'm with you kid. Let's go."

December 3, 2003 - take a walk
Just spent four hours working on my final project for engineering... It's actually not turning out to be all that bad. I'll most likely post it here when I'm done, but yeah. I suppose I don't have anything else to say, except that it's technically not the third anymore, but due to the IOTD, I just had to post today. Hope y'all have a lovely Thursday.

This photo, entitled "Flow", was taken by my awkward friend Nicole (the friendship is awkward, not the friend herself). I've been waiting since she posted it to post this image, since I figured her birthday would be a perfect time to post it. So yeah, Happy Birthday Cole!

Quote of the Day  - Noel Coward
"I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me."

December 4, 2003 - hi. bye.
As I walked to my Astronomy class today, I walked past Steve-O as he returned from English. Our conversation went as follows: "Greetings." "Hi." "See ya later." "Bye." As I went on my way, I couldn't help but wonder what drives us as people to have interactions like that? Like, do those interactions have any purpose, or any result? Does it make people feel better, more loved? Or as a Goffmanian sociologist might ask, do people have those little conversations because they are taking into account future encounters and they want to stay in a positive face? Who knows...

I'm glad tomorrow's Friday.
