Song of the Week: Death Cab For Cutie - The New Year

December 29, 2003 - sloth it up
Just sitting around here today... My break has been pretty uneventful. Actually, it's been more than uneventful, it's been slothified. I have been slothing around the whole break, watching tv, playing games, and just laying around. Later on in the days, friends come over, we eat something, and then we watch tv or sit around. I was expecting this break to be ridiculously busy, but it's actually been quite the opposite. Now don't get me wrong, it hasn't been bad or anything, I like relaxing and whatnot... but yeah, I've gotta go watch more TV while I wait for Brian to get here. Adios.

December 30, 2003 - new years eve eve
Just got back from my extended hanging-out time with Brian. After his car broke down at Kmart, he just spent the night, and we've been slothing around all day. He was expressing to me his thought that they should make cars less complicated... like just one little chip or something that does everything. I then brought up the point that if something went wrong with a small part of your car (like getting power to the windshield wipers or something), you would have to purchase a new $10,000 chip. He then just said that in that case, they should make the chip so it can't break; nothing can go wrong with it. So now, here's my question. Would you pay $50,000 for a car if it would never break? (it would break if you didn't have enough gas or other fluids, and you'd have to buy new tires and windshield wipers every so often). I think that I'd probably save up the money to buy one... but I'm not sure. My used car has held up pretty well... plus, I'd probably want to buy some newer model in 10 years or so. Ah well, useless question I guess.

This car doesn't have just one chip or anything, but it still may be a step up from the type of cars we have today. This is the GM car AUTOnomy. I saw this car on campus at CASE... It runs on Hydrogen-powered fuel cells. No combustion engine necessary. However, the AUTOnomy has so much electronic crap in it at the moment that it can't fit anyone inside it. However, take a look at the Hy-wire, also by GM. It's actually driveable.

December 31, 2003 - a day to look back
Looking back on the year, it's had its ups and downs... Some surreal experiences, some great laughs, some tears, some frustration. I've grown apart from some friends, grown closer to others. I've made new friends, met some new people... and I've had to say goodbye to ones I loved. As far as movies go, I think I saw close to a million... Some good ones (Last Samurai, Return of the King, X-men 2, Johnny English, Elf, Pirates of the Carribean, etc...), and a few bad ones (Daredevil at the top of that list). And of course, the world news (Iraq, Saddam, etc...). There have been many highlights for me: the trip to OU, late night 'girl talk' with Steve-O, the great chase of 2003 (with Brian, Larry, and Joe), spending nights at Donato's (and slipping on the recently-mopped floor)... there are so many things to mention, and they're all here in my head. More years will pass, and I may forget all of the good times of 03... but that's later, and I'm talking about now.

Another year gone... and a new one soon to come.

Quote of the Day - C. C. Colton
"How small a portion of our life it is that we really enjoy! In youth we are looking forward to things that are to come; in old age we are looking backward to things that are gone past; in manhood, although we appear indeed to be more occupied in things that are present, yet even that is too often absorbed in vague determinations to be vastly happy on some future day when we have time."

January 3, 2004 - can you movie like this?
Well, it's 2004! 'Nuff said about that. I've been very bored during the daytime this break (when my friends are all sleeping), so today in my boredom, I took a look at a list of some movies to come that I'd like to bring to your attention. Keep in mind, these are announced and listed on imdb, but I'm sure there's a chance some won't be made... These are my picks of the sequels, adaptations, and remakes of 2005:

With all the above talk of comics made into movies, I have to mention the Punisher movie coming out on April 16, 2004. Never really followed the Punisher, but still, I know who he is and tend to like to see Marvel movies.
